Bufton is a small hamlet in England between the Leicestershire villages of Carlton and Barton in the Beans. It has around 10–15 residents, mainly on farms.

Odstone is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Shackerstone, in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. It stands on a marked promontory of high ground between two river valleys. In 1931 the parish had a population of 142.The village appears in the Domesday Book as Odeston, meaning either "Odd's farm or village", or "settlement on the protruding piece of land", oddr being the Old Norse for "point". Many local towns and villages share a similar Scandinavian heritage. Odstone became a parish in 1866, on 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Shackerstone.

Barton in the Beans is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Shackerstone, in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. There are no shops or pubs in the hamlet, but it contains a Baptist Church and a post box. It was in the 18th century an important centre for the Baptist Church and the minister at Barton was the notable clockmaker Samuel Deacon (1746–1816). In 1931 the parish had a population of 177.One of the earliest mentions of this place is in the Domesday Book where it is listed amongst the lands given to Hugh de Grandmesnil by the King (the land required half a plough and there were 2 acres (8,100 m2) of meadow). During the Middle Ages the land passed through many hands including several members of the family of Hastings.

Carlton is a small rural parish located East of the river Sence in Leicestershire, England, around 2.2 miles North of Market Bosworth. According to the 2011 Census, Carlton has a population of 305 However, from 2014 it is estimated that there are around 330 people living there with a total of 283 registered electors. There are four roads in Carlton: Main Street (where most of the population is centred) Barton Road (at the east end of the village leading south to Market Bosworth and north to Barton-in-the-Beans) Congerstone Lane (at the west end of the village) Shackerstone Walk (formerly Occupation Road).

Ibstock is a former coal mining town and civil parish about 3 miles (5 km) south of Coalville in North West Leicestershire, England. The population of the civil parish was 5,760 at the 2001 census increasing to 6,201 at the 2011 census and 7,615 at the 2021 census.The village is on the A447 road between Coalville and Hinckley.The toponym Ibstock could be a derivative of Ibestoche meaning the farmstead or hamlet of Ibba, which is an Old English personal name also found in other toponyms.

Barlestone is a village and civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England, adjoining the village of Osbaston. The UK Census reported Barlestone's population as 2,471 in 2001, and 2,481 in 2011.

Ibstock United Football Club was a football club based in the village of Ibstock, near Coalville in Leicestershire, England. They played at the Welfare Ground.

Bosworth Hall is a historic country house and Grade II* listed building in the rural town of Market Bosworth in Leicestershire, England, now known as the Bosworth Hall Hotel. It was the country seat of the Dixie family (baronets of Bosworth) for nearly three hundred years. Since the 1980s the house has had several owners and is now a hotel.

Osbaston Hall is a privately owned 18th-century country house at Osbaston, Leicestershire. It is the home of the de Lisle family and a Grade II* listed building. The oldest fabric of the house dates from the late 16th or early 17th century. The manor was acquired by the Wrightson family in the mid-17th century and passed to the Mundy family when Philipa Wrightson, heiress to the estate, married Francis Mundy of Markeaton Hall. The old manor house was rebuilt in about 1720 by Wrightson Mundy (High Sheriff of Derbyshire and Member of Parliament for Leicester in 1737). The south-facing seven-bayed entrance front has two storeys and attics. The central three bays are recessed and carry a Tuscan porch. The garden or west front has ten bays divided by substantial pilasters. The lake or west front is in three distinct blocks, each of three bays. The house was the home of Francis Noel Clarke Mundy, by whom the estate was sold in 1766. Thereafter, there were several owners. In 1827 it was acquired by Thomas Cope (High Sheriff of Leicestershire in 1856). A later Thomas Cope was in 1918 created the first of the Cope baronets of Osbaston. The house was sold to Jonathan Guinness in 1966 and later to the de Lisles.

Shackerstone is a village and civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. It is situated on the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Canal and the River Sence. According to the 2001 census the parish, which also includes the village of Barton in the Beans, had a population of 811, including Odstone which had risen to 921 at the 2011 census.

Dixie Grammar School is a private school in Market Bosworth, Leicestershire. The earliest records of the School's existence date from 1320, but the school was re-founded in 1601 under the will of an Elizabethan merchant and Lord Mayor of London, Sir Wolstan Dixie, by his great-nephew Sir Wolstan Dixie of Appleby Magna, who came to live in Market Bosworth in 1608.The most distinguished of the School's former pupils is Thomas Hooker, founder of Hartford, Connecticut, known as the Father of American Democracy. Samuel Johnson, moralist, poet and author of the famous dictionary, taught at the school in the mid-eighteenth century. The main building of today's school was built in 1828 and faces the market square of Market Bosworth. A distinguished headmaster of the school was the Rev. Arthur Benoni Evans from 1829 till his death in 1854. The school ceased to exist as a "grammar school" in 1969, with the establishment of Market Bosworth High School (11–13 years) and Bosworth Community College, Desford (14–18 years), as much larger comprehensive schools found favour. The Leicestershire Independent Educational Trust was formed in 1983, and four years later the school was re-opened as a selective, independent, day school for boys and girls of all backgrounds between the ages of 10 and 18. Heather and Ibstock railway station is a disused railway station on the former Ashby and Nuneaton Joint Railway. It served the village of Heather and town of Ibstock. It was originally named Heather, but with the industrial expansion of nearby Ibstock the request to have it renamed to include that town was accepted in 1894. It closed to passengers in 1931 but closed to parcel traffic in 1951. Goods continued to pass through until 1954 when the line was closed from Hugglescote to Shackerstone. The site has since been demolished and is now part of a housing estate which now occupies the entire former station site.
