Backford Cross

Strawberry Park and Strawberry Fields are suburbs in the town of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire West and Chester. They are located to the south of Hope Farm and to the west of Backford Cross.

The Whitby High School is a co-educational secondary foundation school, situated in Whitby, a suburb of Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, England.

Ellesmere Port Catholic High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in the Whitby area of Ellesmere Port in the English county of Cheshire.Previously a voluntary aided school administered by Cheshire West and Chester Council, in April 2023 Ellesmere Port Catholic High School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by The Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Academy Trust but continues to be under the jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Shrewsbury. Ellesmere Port Catholic High School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils, while students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A-levels.

West Cheshire College was a further education, vocational college in the North West of England. It had over 20,000 students at its two main campuses in Ellesmere Port and Chester as well as in workplaces and community venues. In March 2017 it was merged with South Cheshire College, based in Crewe, to form Cheshire College – South & West, which as of 2020 retains the Ellesmere Port and Chester campuses.

Great Sutton is a village on the Wirral Peninsula, in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is a suburb of Ellesmere Port and, as with Little Sutton to the north, was once a separate village that was incorporated into the town as it expanded outwards.

Capenhurst railway station serves the village of Capenhurst and its substantial industrial facilities, in Cheshire, England. It also serves outer suburbs of Ellesmere Port. On the former GWR main line from London Paddington to Birkenhead Woodside it is now on the Wirral Line of the Merseyrail network, 5+1⁄4 miles (8.4 km) north of Chester.

Ellesmere Port Church of England College (formerly University Church of England Academy) is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. It was formed in 2009 by the merger of Ellesmere Port Specialist School of Performing Arts (located at Woodchurch Lane) and Cheshire Oaks High School (located at Stanney Lane). The school was sponsored by the University of Chester Academies Trust, but transferred to the Frank Field Education Trust in 2019.

Backford is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. It is situated between Chester and Ellesmere Port on the A41 trunk road, to the north of the Shropshire Union Canal. Backford Cross is located about 2.5 km (1.6 mi) to the north, the village of Mollington is approximately 2.5 km (1.6 mi) to the west and the hamlet of Croughton is about 3 km (1.9 mi) to the east. According to the 2011 census the parish had a population of 117. Formerly a township in the Wirral Hundred, its population was 138 in 1801, 155 in 1851, 141 in 1901, 119 in 1951 and 109 at the 2001 census. The neighbouring civil parish of Chorlton-by-Backford was added to Backford in 2015.St Oswald's Church is in the centre of the village, as is Backford Hall, which is a Grade II listed building. Until its sale for residential redevelopment in 2012, Backford Hall had operated as offices for Cheshire West and Chester Council. Its grounds were used as a golf course by the now defunct Backford Hall Golf Club from the late 1930s until 1950.

Backford Hall is a country house in the village of Backford, Cheshire, England. It was built in the mid 19th Century on the site of earlier halls, and was designed by John Cunningham. Its style is described as "exuberant Elizabethan, Jacobean and Bohemian Rococo".Since 1946 it has been used as offices by Cheshire County Council, and in 2012 its sale was agreed for residential development if planning approval was granted. Planning permission was granted in 2014 and the first residents moved into one of the new houses in 2016. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Ellesmere Port Council Offices is a municipal building in Civic Way in Ellesmere Port, a town in Cheshire, in England. The building served as the headquarters of Ellesmere Port and Neston Borough Council but is now disused.

St Oswald's Church is in the village of Backford, to the northwest of Chester, Cheshire, England, close to the A41 road and adjoining Backford Hall. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building. The church dates from the 14th century with later additions and restorations. It contains one of the few surviving aumbries in Cheshire and a number of memorial boards painted by the Randle Holme family. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester, the archdeaconry of Chester and the deanery of Wirral South. Its benefice is combined with that of Holy Trinity Church, Capenhurst. From March 2018 this benefice shares a vicar with All Saints, Saughall.
