Chiltern District was one of four local government districts of Buckinghamshire in south central England from 1974 to 2020. It was named after the Chiltern Hills on which the region sits. The main towns in the district were Amersham and Chesham which are both served by London Underground's Metropolitan line.

Woodrow is a small hamlet in the parish of Amersham in Buckinghamshire, England. Its main landmark is Woodrow High House which is owned by the London Youth organisation. The house dates from the 17th century and is said to have housed the Cromwell family during the English Civil War. It is also said to be haunted by the ghost of Lady Helena Stanhope.

Amersham Town Football Club is a football club based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire England. The club are currently members of the Combined Counties League Division One and play at Spratleys Meadow.

London Tigers Football Club is a football club based in Greenford, in the London Borough of Ealing, England. Formed in 2006 as a merger of Kingsbury Town and London Tigers, they are currently members of the Middlesex County League Premier Division and play at Spratleys Meadow in Amersham.

Hyde Heath is a village in the civil parish of Little Missenden, in the Buckinghamshire district of the ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire, England. It is located in the Chiltern Hills, around 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of the village of Little Missenden and 2.5 miles (4 km) northwest of Amersham. The village's name refers to the value of the estate that once stood there. The heath was valued at the price of one hide, an amount of land enough to support one free family and its dependants. Currently there is a primary school, pre school, toddler group, nursing home "Rayners," a pub and restaurant "The Plough", a Village Hall & Shop and a car mechanics garage "Heath Motors". Hyde Heath is also host to one of the largest village fetes in the country, held in May of each year. It incorporates many traditional games and stalls and a dog show, as well as various displays (such as falconry and acrobatic demonstrations from the local school), tea and coffees, a large BBQ and ice cream stand, and an ever-popular Classic Car Display. Also there is the annual Hyde Heath Beer Festival held on the village Green in June.

Mop End is a small hamlet in the parish of Little Missenden, in Buckinghamshire, England. At the 2011 Census, the population of the hamlet was included in the civil parish of Amersham. It is best known as the location of the Amersham Field Centre sited at the National Grid substation in nearby woodland. In former times, Mop End was the location of an ancient Inn called The Griffin. In March 2020, Mop End appeared in a Google UK advertisement for the Pixel 4, featuring comedians Jack Whitehall and Michael Dapaah.

Amersham Hospital is located in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. It is one of three hospitals in the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

Winchmore Hill is a village in the parish of Penn, in Buckinghamshire, England. The village has a triangular green in the centre (on which a fête is held regularly). The houses around the green mainly date from the 20th century. The local village cricket team is Winchmore Hill Cricket Club, which has a large junior section with teams playing in local leagues.

Amersham Museum at 49 and 51 High Street is a small local museum based in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, England. It is located on the High Street in Old Amersham. The museum is partly located in a 15th-century half-timbered house, listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England, with a herb garden to the rear, and covers local history. It has collections of fossils and archaeological finds, including objects from Roman and mediaeval times, and displays on local crafts including chairmaking, lace making and straw plait. It originally opened to the public in 1991. In 1993 the museum won a National Heritage Award. In 2001 it was extended at the front of the museum, and in 2005 it employed its first professional curator. In 2017 the Museum re-opened following a major development that included expansion into the neighbouring property at 51 High Street, a former post office. This enabled the museum to create a new introductory exhibition gallery, combined activity and temporary exhibition space, two collections stores, indoor adapted WC and lift. The museum also gained a modern glass reception and shop.The museum is open from 12noon to 4.30pm from Wednesdays to Sundays plus Bank Holiday Mondays. Little Missenden is a village and civil parish on the River Misbourne in Buckinghamshire, England. It is in the Chiltern Hills, about 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Great Missenden and 3 miles (5 km) west of Amersham. The village lies on the River Misbourne in the Misbourne valley. The parish includes the villages of Holmer Green, Hyde Heath and Little Kingshill, and the hamlets of Beamond End, Brays Green, Mop End and Spurlands End. The 2011 Census recorded the population of the ward of Little Missenden, which includes Hyde Heath and Little Kingshill, as 2,234, albeit those other two villages in the ward are each larger than Little Missenden itself. The population of the entire parish was estimated as 6,490 in 2017, reflecting the inclusion of the much larger Holmer Green within the parish. The main London – Aylesbury road used to run through the centre of Little Missenden and past the two pubs – The Red Lion and The Crown. Early in the 19th century a new by-pass road was built to the north and this now forms part of the modern A413 road.

Amersham Hall was a "school for the sons of dignified gentlemen" in England. From 1829 to 1861 it was in Elmodesham House in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, relocating in 1861 to Caversham in Oxfordshire. The Caversham site, a suburb in the north of Reading and now in Berkshire, currently houses Queen Anne's School. Charles West, the son of the founder, and one of the pupils for whom the school was founded, went on to be arguably the first paediatrician in the United Kingdom, and to found Gt Ormond St Hospital for Sick Children The Reverend Ebenezer West, principal of Amersham Hall, funded most of the construction of the West Memorial Hall in Caversham, as well as the Caversham Baptist Free Church a decade later. The memorial hall was extended in 1911 to provide rooms for "wholesome recreation and moral improvement for the young men of Caversham", increasing the space available for religious educations on Sundays (in connection with the Caversham Free Church).The school closed in 1896 following an outbreak of Scarlet Fever.

The Amersham Meeting house is a Friends meeting house (a Quaker place of worship) on Whielden Road in Amersham, Buckinghamshire. It is listed Grade II* on the National Heritage List for England. The meeting for worship is held on Sundays at 11 am.The meeting house forms part of an extension to the adjoining cottage, Whielden Cottage, which was built c. 1600. The cottage was extended in 1689 to serve as a Quaker meeting house for the Quakers who had begun to meet in Amersham from the 1660s. The Amersham Quakers received a letter from the noted early Quaker Isaac Penington in 1667.It was extended and refronted in red brick in the late 18th century. The meeting room is divided into two by a wooden screen with shutters.
