Harvington

Harvington railway station was a station in Harvington, Worcestershire, England. The station was opened on 17 September 1866, train services were withdrawn in 1962 and a bus service provided until officially closed on 17 June 1963.

Abbot's Salford is the name of a village in the English county of Warwickshire. It is found six miles south of Alcester, about the same distance from Evesham, very close to the Worcestershire border, and is within the parish of Salford Priors. The River Avon runs close by the eastern side of the village. As well as the hotel the modest modern attractions of the village seem to be Abbot's Salford Lake, which is an excellent fishing spot, and a caravan park.

The River Avon flows through Offenham. The civil parish extends beyond the area of the settlement of Offenham and includes Blackminster Middle School and the Blackminster Trading Estate. It was awarded the title of Calor Worcestershire Village of the Year in 2004.

The Badsey Brook, also known as the Broadway Brook, is a small brook that flows through Worcestershire, England. It is a lower tributary of the River Avon, which it joins near Offenham upstream of Evesham. Its principal tributary is the Bretforton Brook.

Salford Priors is a rural, agricultural village and civil parish about four miles south-west of Alcester, Warwickshire, England. The population of the civil parish as taken at the 2011 census was 1,546. It is on the Warwickshire border with Worcestershire. The village is eight miles from the popular tourist town of Stratford upon Avon, the birthplace of William Shakespeare, and the River Avon runs near to it. Evesham lies seven miles to the south-west and is an important agricultural centre and soft fruit-growing area. The population of the Salford Priors ward – which includes the communities of Abbot's Salford, Dunnington, Iron Cross, Pitchill, Rushford and Mudwalls – was 1,492 at the 2001 census.

The Battle of Evesham (4 August 1265) was one of the two main battles of 13th century England's Second Barons' War. It marked the defeat of Simon de Montfort, Earl of Leicester, and the rebellious barons by the future King Edward I, who led the forces of his father, King Henry III. It took place on 4 August 1265, near the town of Evesham, Worcestershire. With the Battle of Lewes, de Montfort had won control of royal government, but after the defection of several close allies and the escape from captivity of Prince Edward, he found himself on the defensive. Forced to engage the royalists at Evesham, he faced an army twice the size of his own. The battle soon turned into a massacre; de Montfort himself was killed and his body mutilated. It was described by the contemporary historian Robert of Gloucester as the "murder of Evesham, for battle it was none". Though the battle effectively restored royal authority, scattered resistance remained until the Dictum of Kenilworth was signed in 1267.

Church Lench is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of South Lenches, in the Wychavon district, in the county of Worcestershire, England, approximately 5.5 miles due north of Evesham and 13 miles due west of Stratford-upon-Avon. It is the largest of the surrounding Lenches, accommodating the Lenches Sports Club, the Lenches Members' Club, Church Lench First School, Church Lench preschool and the Church Lench Village Hall.

Weethley is a village and former civil parish on the B4088 road, now in the parish of Arrow with Weethley, in the Stratford-on-Avon district, in the county of Warwickshire, England. Weethley has a chapel of ease called St James's, Weethley. In 2001 the parish had a population of 17. On 1 April 2004 the parish was abolished and merged with Arrow to form "Arrow with Weethley".

Ab Lench is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of South Lenches, in the Wychavon district, in the county of Worcestershire, England. The village lies 1 mile (1.6 km) from Church Lench and Rous Lench, 2 miles (3 km) from Harvington and 4 miles (6.4 km) from Ragley Hall. It is about 15 miles (24 km) from Stratford and 6 miles (10 km) from Evesham.

Greenhill is a hill just north of Evesham, Worcestershire and was part of the site of the Battle of Evesham. In the battle, Simon de Montfort was defeated and killed on 4 August 1265. King Henry's son, Prince Edward, later Edward I used it as his base in the battle from where he launched his attack on Simon de Montfort's forces which were gathered around Evesham Abbey.
