Benchill is an area in the Wythenshawe council estate 8 miles (13 km) south of Manchester city centre, in England. In 2000, Benchill was named in the Index of Multiple Deprivation as the most deprived ward in England.Following a review by the Boundary Committee for England, Benchill was disestablished as a local government ward in 2003, and the area divided between the neighbouring wards of Sharston, Woodhouse Park, and Northenden. Benchill gained national media attention in February 2007 when then-Leader of the Opposition David Cameron visited the estate and was targeted by a group of youths, one of whom made a gun gesture with his hand towards him. The incident was photographed by the press.

Haveley tram stop was a proposed tram stop on the phase 3b plans to Manchester Airport which would have been located immediately east of the M56 motorway. It was originally due to open in 2016 but was dropped from the plans.

Manchester Wythenshawe was a parliamentary constituency centred on the Wythenshawe suburb of Manchester. It returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The constituency was created for the 1950 general election, and abolished for the 1997 general election. It was then replaced by the new Wythenshawe and Sale East constituency which joined it with the eastern half of Sale from the Trafford Metropolitan Borough.

Northen Etchells was a township in Cheshire, England. "Northen" is an old name for Northenden and "Etchells" came from Anglo-Saxon ēcels = "land added to an estate".

Benchill is a tram stop for Phase 3b of the Manchester Metrolink. It opened on 3 November 2014. It is on the Airport Line at the Brownley Road/Hollyhedge Road crossroads. A health centre and new sixth form college are also near the stop.

Menorah Synagogue, a member of the Movement for Reform Judaism, is a synagogue in Manchester in the United Kingdom and the place of worship for the Cheshire Reform Congregation. The synagogue is on Altrincham Road in Sharston, Wythenshawe. Its rabbi is Rabbi Fabian Sborovsky. He took up his post on 1 February 2015 in succession to Rabbi Haim Shalom.

Poundswick Grammar School or PGS was a mainstream secondary school in the Poundswick Corridor of "Wythenshawe" and at its peak had over 500 pupils.

Crossacres is a tram stop for the Phase 3B Extension of Greater Manchester's Metrolink system. The stop is part of the Airport Line and is at the junction of Brownley Road and Crossacres Road in the Wythenshawe area of Manchester, England. It opened on 3 November 2014.

Wythenshawe Town Centre is a tram stop on the Manchester Metrolink Airport Line. It opened on 3 November 2014. It is in Wythenshawe town centre next to shops, the library and Wythenshawe Forum. A new Wythenshawe bus station was built next to the Metrolink station, which replaced existing stops at the former bus station and Wythenshawe Forum.

Wythenshawe Bus Garage is a Grade II* listed building in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester, England.Designed by Manchester City Architects Department under G. Noel Hill, and completed in 1942, the garage was a pioneering example of its type of construction. It is located in Harling Road, off Sharston Road in the Sharston district of Wythenshawe. It was the second-largest reinforced concrete shell roof structure to be constructed in England. The building’s structure was particularly innovative for its time. Its concrete arches have a span of 165 ft (50.3m) from side to side, are 42 ft (12.8m) high and spaced 42 ft (12.8m) apart. The tensile concrete shell roof between these concrete arches is just 2.5 inches (63.5mm) thick and is daringly punctured by large rooflights. Wythenshawe Garage proved to be the model for much larger buildings using the concrete shell roof structure technique, which was an economic method of achieving large uninterrupted roof spans. Originally designed to garage 100 double-decker buses, the building on its completion was immediately commandeered by the Ministry of Aircraft Production for work associated with the building and repair of Avro Lancaster bombers in support of Britain’s Second World War efforts.On its return to Manchester Corporation use in 1946, the building was known as Northenden garage. It housed buses used mainly on routes linking the city centre and the large Wythenshawe housing estate, also on three serving Gatley and Styal, the Sale Moor and Brooklands districts of Sale, and Baguley and the Timperley district of Altrincham. The building is now in private ownership and is used for car parking.

Wythenshawe FM 97.2, also known as WFM, is a community radio station broadcasting primarily to Wythenshawe, Manchester and the surrounding south Manchester area. It was one of the first radio stations of its type in the UK, gaining a full-time licence in 2005 and is run entirely by volunteers. Aims Its mission is to: • promote local services and community groups. • raise awareness of issues which affect local communities. • give people in the area the chance to learn social skills and gain qualifications in radio presentation /production, leading to better chances of employability, regardless of experience. • promote equality and bring people together – regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation or religious beliefs. History A partnership between Radio Regen, WFM and Manchester College of Arts and Technology (MANCAT) has given students the chance to gain work experience at the station. Its sister station, All FM, serves the Ardwick, Longsight and Levenshulme areas of Manchester. In 2010, Wythenshawe FM became independent after 10 years of support and management under Radio Regen. WFM Community Media, a new company and charity overseeing the operation of Wythenshawe FM was established, now entirely volunteer-led. In 2014 Wythenshawe FM earned the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award for volunteers and the equivalent of an MBE! In November 2017 they were awarded the runner-up trophy for a Be Proud Award as Voluntary Group of the Year. In 2021, the station breached the conditions of its OFCOM license by failing to submit its financial reports on time.

Sharston Hall was a manor house built in Sharston, an area of Wythenshawe, Manchester, England, in 1701. A three-storey building with Victorian additions, it was purchased by Thomas Worthington, an early umbrella tycoon, and occupied by the Worthington family until 1856, when the last male heir died. The hall was occupied by the Henriques family in the 1920s, but following their death in a motor accident in 1932 the house was converted into flats. Manchester Corporation purchased the hall in 1926. During the Second World War it was leased by the local watch committee for use by the police, civil defence and fire services.From 1941 until 1957 Sharston Hall's coach house served as Wythenshawe's fire station. In 1948 the Sharston Community Association, founded that same year, was allocated part of the hall for use as a community centre. Two years later the association took over the entire house, expanding in 1957 to also occupy the coach house then recently vacated by the fire service.By the late 1960s the hall was in a poor state of repair and was boarded up. Sharston Hall was demolished in 1986, replaced by offices in a sympathetic 18th-century style – or what Pevsner's architectural guide calls a parody of it – and houses.
