Saxondale, Nottinghamshire

Royal Air Force station Newton or more simply RAF Newton (ICAO: EGXN) is a former Royal Air Force station located 7 miles (11 km) east of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and 10.7 miles (17.2 km) south west of Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, England. It was used briefly as a bomber base for squadrons to re-equip after the Battle of France and then as a flying training school during the Second World War and beyond until 2000.

Saxondale Hospital was a psychiatric hospital near Radcliffe-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, built to replace the Sneinton Asylum in Nottingham.

Newton is a hamlet and civil parish in the Rushcliffe district, in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. It is located 1 mile (1.6 km) south-west of East Bridgford and about 1 mile (1.6 km) south-east of the River Trent, close to the junction of the A46 Fosse Way and the A6079. RAF Newton is a disused airfield immediately to the south of Main Street. It opened in July 1940 and closed in 2000. The hangars and other buildings are now used by a number of businesses within the Newton Commercial Centre. Newton Mill was a wooden post mill built before 1855. It ceased work c. 1920 and the buck was dismantled c. 1952. Some parts, including a stone neck bearing, were donated to the Science Museum in London. The brick roundhouse now belongs to the Crown.

Upper Saxondale is a village and civil parish in the Rushcliffe district, in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. It lies in an upland area between the River Trent and the Vale of Belvoir, and between the A52 and A46 roads, close to their junction at Saxondale Roundabout near Bingham. The nearby hamlet of Saxondale was the site of an Anglo-Saxon fort and earthworks, visible from the A52.

The town had a population of 9,131 at the 2011 census (up from 8,655 in 2001), with the population now sitting at 10,108 from the results of the 2021 census data.It is twin towns with Wallenfels in Bavaria, Germany. Music groups have visited to and from the twin towns, and a beer festival is held in Bingham every year.
