Upper Saxondale

Saxondale Hospital was a psychiatric hospital near Radcliffe-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, built to replace the Sneinton Asylum in Nottingham.

Harlequin is an area to the east of the Nottinghamshire village of Radcliffe on Trent in England, the two settlements separated by the A52 trunk road. It is contained within the Radcliffe on Trent parish, with Upper Saxondale to the east, and Radcliffe golf course and Dewberry Hill to the south. Until the start of the 20th century there were several nurseries within Harlequin, which could account for its name, one theory being visitors to nearby Belvoir Castle saw the banked colours of glass houses and nursery flowers and likened them to patterns of a harlequin costume.Two brick works businesses existed in the area until around 1940, along with several clay pits providing material.The area contained little residential housing until 1940 onwards, much of the nurseries being sold to provide land. The area was notably once home to a Nottingham lace entrepreneur, George Mather.

Radcliffe-on-Trent Golf Club is a golf course in Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, England. It was founded as a nine-hole parkland golf course in 1909. It was extended to an 18-hole course in 1925 after the club bought land from the Manvers Estate, and further remodelled on additional land in 1972 by the golf course architect Frank Pennick The course is located approximately 5 miles to the east of Nottingham in Radcliffe-on-Trent on Cropwell Road, just south of the A52. Its foundation was marked with a golf match on 9 October 1909 between two notable professional golfers of the time, Tom Williamson and Harry Vardon, this was watched by over 200 spectators. The trophy, won by Vardon, was reacquired by the Club for its centenary in 2009, which was also marked with matches against Rushcliffe Golf Club which also celebrated its Centenary, and by hosting the McGregor Trophy which is the national under 16 boys stroke play tournament organised by the English Golf Union.The course measures 6402 yards and is a par 70 with a SSS of 71. Off the ladies' tees the course measures 5570 yards and is a par 72 with a SSS of 73.[1] The course is characterised by tight fairways lined with mature trees, and by relatively long par 3 holes. As a private club it has a maximum of 695 male and female members.

Saxondale is a small hamlet and civil parish in the Rushcliffe borough of Nottinghamshire, England, situated just off the A52 road near to its junction with the A46 road at the Saxondale roundabout, between the settlements of Bingham and Radcliffe on Trent. There is evidence of an Anglo-Saxon fort with earthworks visible from the main road. The village is just south of the Nottingham to Grantham railway line where there is still evidence of a spur, known as the Barnstone branch, from the former Saxondale Junction through present-day Bingham to Melton Mowbray. The hamlet is close to the residential area of Upper Saxondale, a redevelopment of the former Saxondale Hospital site.

Cropwell Butler is a village and civil parish in the borough of Rushcliffe in Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom, one mile east of the A46, under the NG12 postcode. It shares a parish council with Tithby and is adjacent to the south to Cropwell Bishop.

Royal Air Force station Newton or more simply RAF Newton (ICAO: EGXN) is a former Royal Air Force station located 7 miles (11 km) east of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and 10.7 miles (17.2 km) south west of Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, England. It was used briefly as a bomber base for squadrons to re-equip after the Battle of France and then as a flying training school during the Second World War and beyond until 2000.

South Nottinghamshire Academy is a mixed-sex secondary school with academy status located in the village of Radcliffe-on-Trent, in Nottinghamshire, England. The school intake covers pupils from ages 11 to 18, with the upper two years being catered for in the integrated sixth form centre. The school was originally named Radcliffe-on-Trent County Secondary Modern School, then Dayncourt Comprehensive School and latterly Dayncourt School. Dayncourt was awarded Specialist Sports College status in September 2002. In 2011 the school was formally closed and reconstituted on the same site as South Nottinghamshire Academy, formed in partnership with South Nottingham College (now Central College Nottingham). South Nottinghamshire Academy is a specialist school for both sports and mathematics.

Shelford is a village and civil parish in the Rushcliffe borough of Nottinghamshire. The population of the former civil parish of Shelford and Newton at the 2011 census was 673. It is near Radcliffe on Trent. It has an old manor house (built on the site of Shelford Priory), a church and a caravan park and bar. It also has a pub restaurant, The Earl of Chesterfield Arms. Several small farms operate in the village, engaging in arable and livestock farming, with much of the harvesting being contracted out to outside companies.

St Peter and St Paul's Church, Shelford is a parish church in the Church of England in Shelford, Nottinghamshire. The church is Grade II* listed by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.

Radcliffe railway station (also known as Radcliffe-on-Trent and Radcliffe (Notts)) serves the village of Radcliffe-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, England. It lies on the Nottingham to Grantham Line, 5 miles (8 km) east of Nottingham. Services run to Nottingham, Grantham, Boston and Skegness.

Newton is a hamlet and civil parish in the Rushcliffe district, in the county of Nottinghamshire, England. It is located 1 mile (1.6 km) south-west of East Bridgford and about 1 mile (1.6 km) south-east of the River Trent, close to the junction of the A46 Fosse Way and the A6079. RAF Newton is a disused airfield immediately to the south of Main Street. It opened in July 1940 and closed in 2000. The hangars and other buildings are now used by a number of businesses within the Newton Commercial Centre. Newton Mill was a wooden post mill built before 1855. It ceased work c. 1920 and the buck was dismantled c. 1952. Some parts, including a stone neck bearing, were donated to the Science Museum in London. The brick roundhouse now belongs to the Crown.

Radcliffe-on-Trent is a large village and civil parish in the Rushcliffe borough of Nottinghamshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the Census 2011 was 8,205.
