The Craver Farmstead was established circa 1790 consisting of 225 acres with a farmhouse and a barn. Today, the Craver Farmstead is both architecturally and historically significant. The farmhouse was built prior to 1790 and stands as one of the oldest and best preserved examples of Federal-style architecture in upstate New York. The Federal style evolved as the dominant classicizing architecture in North America between 1780 and1830 as the new republic of the United States sought to define itself as independent in literature, art, and architecture just as it was politically. Craver Farmstead is located on Craver Road in southern Rensselaer County, New York at the northeast corner of the town of East Greenbush, NY near the hamlet of West Sand Lake, NY. The one-mile county road bearing the site's name ("Craver Road") stretches across the original historic site to connect two more recently developed roadways. Historians agree that Craver Road was at first simply a horse trail leading to the then-new farmhouse during the mid-to-late 18th century. Soon afterward, Craver Road became a personal carriageway for the Craver Family as one may think of the modern driveway. The barn located at Craver Farmstead originally served as a private draft horse stable and carriage house for the exclusive use of the Craver family far prior to the advent of the horseless carriage. Historically, the Craver Farmstead represents the agricultural heritage of 18th and 19th century rural New York. It serves as a landmark of the region's agrarian past as well as a tangible link to the hardy folks who settled upstate New York. The Craver Farmstead is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as certified by the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Troy Orphan Asylum (formerly Vanderheyden Hall) is a not-for-profit organization based in Wynantskill, New York, that works with youth and families in need across the Capital Region. It originated as the Troy Orphan Asylum in 1833.

The community is named after the local Averill family. It is located on Route 43, south of Crystal Lake and east of West Sand Lake. The Sand Lake Baptist Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Sand Lake Baptist Church is a historic Baptist church at 2960 State Route 43 in Averill Park, Rensselaer County, New York. The church was built in 1805 and is a Federal period frame building. It is a rectangular, two-story, heavy wood-frame building set on a stone foundation. The church has a gable roof and features a two-stage, semi-engaged Greek Revival style tower added in 1840. The front facade features a Palladian window. Also on the property is a contributing parsonage (1846) and garage (1939).The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

North Greenbush is a town in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. North Greenbush is located in the western part of the county. The population was 13,292 at the 2020 census. The town has three main hamlets, Wynantskill in the northeastern corner, Defreestville in the southern portion of the town, and Snyder's Lake which occupies the majority of the town's eastern end. North Greenbush is home to the southern part of the Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) campus, including the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, home to the Tri-City ValleyCats minor league baseball team; the RPI Tech Park; the La Salle Institute; the New York State National Guard Armory, headquarters for the Rainbow Division; and various Rensselaer County government institutions.

Wynantskill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 3,276 at the 2010 census. Wynantskill is located at the northern town line and the northeastern corner of the town of North Greenbush. The community is a suburb of Troy. state route 66 (Pawling Ave. in Troy, Main Ave. in Wynantskill) is the main route through the community. Wynantskill has a major grocery store, several banks and restaurants, a craft beverage store, convenience stores, a post office, and a bowling alley, with almost all houses located on side streets off Main Ave. Other major roads are Whiteview Road (NY 136), a primarily residential road that leads to US 4; and West Sand Lake Road (NY 150).

Albert R. Fox House, also known as the Fox Mansion, is a historic home located at Sand Lake in Rensselaer County, New York. It was built about 1847 and is a large Greek Revival style frame dwelling. It consists of a two-story, five-bay-wide and four-bay-deep main block, flanked by one-story, two-bay-wide wings. There is also a large two-story rear wing. It features a full-width, one-story open porch with Ionic order columns supporting a deep entablature. Also on the property are a contributing fountain (c. 1860) and two small 19th-century sheds.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

The Barberville Falls is a waterfall and nature preserve located in Poestenkill, New York. The fall flows into the Poesten Kill, which is a large creek that flows through Rensselaer County.
