Wynantskill is a census-designated place (CDP) in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. The population was 3,276 at the 2010 census. Wynantskill is located at the northern town line and the northeastern corner of the town of North Greenbush. The community is a suburb of Troy. state route 66 (Pawling Ave. in Troy, Main Ave. in Wynantskill) is the main route through the community. Wynantskill has a major grocery store, several banks and restaurants, a craft beverage store, convenience stores, a post office, and a bowling alley, with almost all houses located on side streets off Main Ave. Other major roads are Whiteview Road (NY 136), a primarily residential road that leads to US 4; and West Sand Lake Road (NY 150).

North Greenbush is a town in Rensselaer County, New York, United States. North Greenbush is located in the western part of the county. The population was 13,292 at the 2020 census. The town has three main hamlets, Wynantskill in the northeastern corner, Defreestville in the southern portion of the town, and Snyder's Lake which occupies the majority of the town's eastern end. Each have strong identities and hinder efforts by the town to have a centralized identity. Also hindering a unified town image is that North Greenbush consists of parts of four different school districts, only one of which (a one-room schoolhouse) carries the town's name; two fire departments (Wynantskill and Defreestville); and three ZIP codes (City of Troy, City of Rensselaer, and Wynantskill). North Greenbush is home to the southern part of the Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) campus, including the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, home to the Tri-City ValleyCats minor league baseball team; the RPI Tech Park; the La Salle Institute; the New York State National Guard Armory, headquarters for the Rainbow Division; and various Rensselaer County government institutions.

Forest Park Cemetery, also known colloquially as Pinewoods Cemetery due to its location at 387 Pinewoods Avenue, is an abandoned cemetery, located in Brunswick, New York, United States just east of the city of Troy. It is famous for the numerous urban legends regarding ghosts.

The Emma Willard School, originally called Troy Female Seminary and often referred to simply as Emma, is an independent university-preparatory day and boarding school for young women, located in Troy, New York, on Mount Ida, offering grades 9–12 and postgraduate coursework. Between 2016-2020, four or more students matriculated to Cornell, Columbia, University of Chicago, Georgetown, Brown, Barnard, Carnegie Mellon, Washington University in St Louis and NYU.The first women's higher education institution in the United States, it was founded by women's rights advocate Emma Willard in 1814 (as the Troy Female Seminary). As of 2019, it had an endowment of $105,569,594. In 2018, the school was ranked by The Post-Standard as the #1 private school in Upstate New York.

Henry Koon House is a historic home located at Troy in Rensselaer County, New York. It was built about 1830 and is an elegant Greek Revival–style residence. It is a 2-story, three-by-five-bay, side-hall-plan brick dwelling. It features a monumental portico composed of four Ionic order columns supporting a full entablature and pediment.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Joseph Bruno Stadium is a stadium located on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York. It is the home field of the Tri-City ValleyCats minor league baseball team of the independent Frontier League and previously the New York–Penn League. Located in the center of the tri-city area of New York's Capital Region (Albany, Schenectady and Troy), it was named after former New York State Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, who helped secure the funds for the ballpark.

Hudson Valley Community College is a public community college in Troy, New York. It is part of the State University of New York (SUNY). Although about eighty percent of the students are from the Capital District, the remainder are from other parts of New York, other states and from some 30 countries around the world. The college is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and is overseen by a 10-member Board of Trustees. The school has an enrollment of 9,300 students.

Troy High School is a public high school located in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, U.S.A., and is the only high school operated by the Enlarged City School District of Troy, NY. The Troy Flying Horses football team are 4 time, one time NYS Class A (1996) and three time NYS Class AA State Champions, first in 1998 then back to back for the years 2017 and 2018.

Houston Field House is a multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York. It is the nation's third-oldest college hockey rink, behind Northeastern University's Matthews Arena and Princeton University's Hobey Baker Memorial Rink. Further, it is the second-oldest arena in the ECAC Hockey League, behind Princeton's rink. Until the opening of the Times Union Center in Albany in 1990, it was the largest arena in the Capital Region.

The Chapel + Cultural Center at Rensselaer is an architecturally unique, multipurpose performing arts and spiritual space in Troy, New York. The Center is owned and operated by the Rensselaer Newman Foundation (RNF). It is conventionally referred to as "The C+CC"; the "+" sign has come to be formally used instead of "and" or an ampersand as a representative symbol of the Christian cross. While located on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) , the C+CC is managed and operated as an independent organizational entity. The C+CC provides a home to the Roman Catholic University Parish of Christ Sun of Justice, and its staff members provide administrative support to Catholic, Protestant, Jewish and Muslim chaplaincy services at RPI.

The Alumni Sports and Recreation Center (more commonly referred to as The Armory) is a building owned by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York. It is host to sports facilities and to many clubs in the institute's community. It was purchased by the institute in 1971 from the State of New York, where it had previously served as the city armory for Troy.
