Sender Inselsberg

Großer Inselsberg is a mountain in the Thuringian Forest with a height of 916.5 m (3,007 ft) above sea level, located on Rennsteig in the districts of Gotha and Schmalkalden-Meiningen. It is the fourth-highest distinct mountain of Thuringia, after Großer Beerberg (982.9 m (3,225 ft)), Schneekopf (978 m (3,209 ft)) and Großer Finsterberg (944.1 m (3,097 ft)) and forms a landmark that can be viewed in particular from northern and western directions.

The Kilianstein is a free-standing rock tower on the Hopfenberg hill in the eastern part of the Sembach valley in central Germany. It stands about 800 m east of the (upper) village of Winterstein on the northern slopes of the Thuringian Forest in Germany. The pinnacle is about 15 metres high and some 500 m above sea level (NN). It consists of a relatively crumbly quartz porphyry and is visited, albeit rarely, by sports climbers. Several trails are signposted from here, climbing routes have been established on the rock and on the top is a summit register. According to one Winterstein legend, this rock was formed when the devil rammed his walking stick into the ground in anger at the success of the missionary St. Kilian in converting the local pagans, and the tip of his stick remained embedded.

The Hopfenberg is a wooded hill near Winterstein in the borough of Waltershausen, in the county of Gotha in the German state of Thuringia. With a height of 536.1 m above NN, the Hopfenberg forms the eastern boundary of the Emse valley within the municipality of Winterstein. The hill, which is cleared on its western and northern flanks, was used in the Middle Ages for the cultivation of hops, from which the hill derives its name. The rocky southern face of the Hopfenberg towers over the Sembach valley by about 125 metres. The Kilianstein rock formation in the east of the valley recalls the conversion of local pagans by the missionary, St Kilian. The rock face on the Treppenstein is also impressive; here there used to be a quarry whose rock was used in the construction of forest tracks.

Brotterode-Trusetal is a town in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district, in Thuringia, Germany. It was named after the town Brotterode and the German river Truse that flows through the municipality. It was formed on 1 December 2011 by the merger of the former municipalities Brotterode and Trusetal.

Emsetal is a former municipality in the district of Gotha, in Thuringia, Germany. It took its name from the river Emse. It consisted of the villages Fischbach, Schmerbach, Schwarzhausen and Winterstein. On 31 December 2013, it was merged into the town Waltershausen.The Kilianstein is an unusual rock pinnacle in the municipality that is sometimes used by climbers. It is 800 m east of the village of Winterstein.

Brotterode (German pronunciation: [bʁɔtəˈʁoːdə] ) is a town and a former municipality next to the Rennsteig in the Thuringian Forest, in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district, in Thuringia, central Germany. Since 1 December 2011, it is part of the town Brotterode-Trusetal. It is situated 11 km north of Schmalkalden, and 19 km southeast of Eisenach.

Schwarzhausen is a village in Thuringia, Germany. In 1946, it was incorporated into the municipality of Emsetal in the district of Gotha.

Reinhardsbrunn in Friedrichroda near Gotha, in the German state of Thuringia, is the site of a formerly prominent Benedictine abbey, the house monastery of the Ludovingian Landgraves of Thuringia abbey extant between 1085 and 1525. Later used as an administrative seat by the Ernestine dukes of Saxony, the property was turned into a castle and park erected by the Dukes of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1827.
