Saddle Hill (Aberdeenshire)

Curlethney Hill is a landform in Aberdeenshire, Scotland within the Mounth Range of the Grampian Mountains. (Grid Reference NO 918 839) The peak elevation of this mountain is 246 metres above mean sea level. This landform lies slightly southwest of the village of Netherley. The northwest boundary of the moorland atop Curlethney Hill is formed by the southwestern flanks of Craggie Cat, a nearby peak.

Meikle Carewe Hill is a landform in Aberdeenshire, Scotland within the Mounth Range of the Grampian Mountains. (Grid Reference NO 921 828) The peak elevation of this mountain is 266 metres above mean sea level. Meikle Carewe is a prominent landform visible from a number of coastal hills such as Kempstone Hill and Megray Hill; it also forms a major backdrop to the community of Netherley.

Raedykes is the site of a Roman marching camp located just over three miles (five kilometres) northwest of Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. National Grid Reference NO 842902. It is designated as a scheduled monument. A marching camp was a temporary camp used mainly for overnight stops on a long route between more permanent forts, or as a temporary base while on campaign in hostile territory.

The Lang Stane of Auquhollie is an Ogam-inscribed standing stone some 6 kilometres north-west of Stonehaven in Scotland. Situated on south side of Meikle Carew Hill at a height of about 140 metres above sea level, the stone is approximately 3 metres in height and 0.75 metres in diameter, an unshaped monolith of gneiss.

Craggie Cat is a hill landform in the Mounth of the Grampian Mountains at the southern edge of Netherley, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The peak elevation of Craggie Cat is 198 metres according to the Ordnance Survey. This hill's southwestern flanks form the northwest boundary of the moorland of Curlethney Hill.

Cowton Burn is a stream that rises in the Mounth, or eastern range of the Grampian Mountains, on some of the northwest slopes of the Durris Forest west of Netherley, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The Grid Reference for the headwaters is NO 925 823); Cowton Burn is a tributary to the Cowie Water. The Cowton Burn is crossed by the A957 road slightly northwest of Rickarton House.

Rickarton House is a 19th-century country house in Kincardineshire, Scotland. It lies approximately three-and-a-half miles northwest of Stonehaven in the former county of Kincardineshire. The house is situated on the north banks of the Cowie Water slightly upstream of the confluence with Cowton Burn. Rickarton is a category B listed building. Rickarton House was constructed in the first decade of the 19th century for William Rickart Hepburn. He commissioned the City Architect of Aberdeen, John Smith, to undertake the work. The house and the estate became the property of the Bairds in the mid 19th century. It is currently owned by the Baron of Rickarton, Ury, and Lochwood.

Netherley House is a mansion built by Alexander Silver in the late 18th century in Netherley, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is situated near the northerly flowing drainage of Crynoch Burn (Groome, 1885). The home was sold to Horatio Ross by James Silver, son of George Silver in 1853 for 33,000 pounds sterling. (Peter, 1856). It subsequently came into the possession of the descendants of General Nathaniel Forbes of Auchernach, who held it until 1901. George Silver was the son and heir of Alexander Silver. While George Silver inhabited Netherley House, he acquired the further lands of Muchalls Castle.

Netherley, Scotland is a village in Aberdeenshire, situated approximately five miles northwest of Stonehaven. Netherley is located in the Mounth area of the Grampian Highlands. At the eastern edge of Netherley is a significant wetland bog known as Red Moss. To the southwest of Netherley lie Meikle Carewe Hill and Curlethney Hill. At the south edge of Netherley is the peak of Craggie Cat.

Rickarton is a settlement in Aberdeenshire. It is situated on the A957 to the northwest of Stonehaven. Rickarton was served by the 105 bus between Stonehaven and Banchory until its withdrawal in 2018. Rickarton was home to a Church of Scotland church until its closure in the late 1970s.

Kincardine and Mearns is one of six area committees of the Aberdeenshire council area in Scotland. It has a population of 38,506 (2001 Census). There are significant natural features in this district including rivers, forests, mountains and bogs (known locally as mosses). Transport links with Aberdeen have encouraged rapid population growth, especially in the north of this region. Existing settlements such as Portlethen and Stonehaven have greatly expanded, along with industrial activity. The southern part is more self-sufficient, with the fertile Mearns area sustaining a strong agricultural economy. Small scale tourism activity occurs along its attractive coastline and former fishing villages.
