The Albert Ott House is a historic house in Olathe, Kansas, U.S.. It was built in 1894 for Albert Ott, the president of the Olathe State Bank, and his wife Helena Hyer, whose brother founded the Hyer Boot Company. It was designed in the Queen Anne architectural style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 1, 1998.

The I. O. Pickering House is a historic house in Olathe, Kansas, U.S.. It was built in 1878 for Isaac O. Pickering, who served as the mayor of Olathe from 1878 to 1885. It remained in the Pickering family until 1960. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 1, 1980.

The Museum of Deaf History, Arts and Culture is a museum dedicated to the unique culture of Deaf and hard of hearing people in the United States. The museum opened in 2001 in Olathe, Kansas, across the street from the Kansas School for the Deaf.

The Kansas School For the Deaf, is a K-12 school, located in downtown Olathe, Kansas. In 1866, it became the first school for the deaf established in the state of Kansas, and today it remains the largest. Originally named the "Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb", the name has been changed several times to conform to prevailing sensibilities about deafness. Students and staff often refer to the school as "KSD."

The Martin Van Buren Parker House is a historic house in Olathe, Kansas, U.S.. It was built in 1869 for Martin Van Buren Parker, a lawyer, his wife Emma, and their five children. Emma's brother was John St. John, who went on to serve as the 8th Governor of Kansas from 1879 to 1883. It remained in the Parker family until 1960, and it was restored by the new owners in the 1980s. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 20, 1988.

The school is one of five high schools in the Olathe USD 233 school district. Olathe South High School was recognized as a National School of Excellence for the 1990–91 school year by the U.S. Department of Education, becoming the first high school in Olathe to do so. Olathe South's official colors are blue and gold, and the official mascot is the Falcon. The average annual enrollment at Olathe South is approximately 2,100 students.Olathe South High School was established in 1981 in order to help educate the rapidly increasing population of Olathe. It is located at 250 S. Rogers Rd. Olathe, Kansas, United States.The primary responsibility of Kansas City Center is sequencing and separation of over-flights, arrivals, and departures in order to provide safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of aircraft filed under instrument flight rules (IFR). Kansas City Center is the 15th busiest ARTCC in the United States. Between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017, Kansas City Center handled 1,801,888 aircraft operations. Kansas City Center covers approximately 192,000 square miles of the Midwestern United States, Southern United States, and the Western United States, including parts of Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Missouri.Kansas City Center lies adjacent to seven Air Route Traffic Control Centers, including Minneapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center, Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center, Indianapolis Air Route Traffic Control Center, Memphis Air Route Traffic Control Center, Fort Worth Air Route Traffic Control Center, Denver Air Route Traffic Control Center, and Albuquerque Air Route Traffic Control Center. ZKC overlies or abuts many approach control facilities (including Kansas City, Oklahoma City, St. Louis, Tulsa, Springfield, MO, and Wichita).

The Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Historic Site, locally known as the Mahaffie Farm, is located in Olathe, Kansas. The house was originally a stop along the Westport Route of the Santa Fe, Oregon, and California Trails, which originated in nearby Westport, Missouri. The house's heyday came with large numbers of westbound travelers of the 1860s. The house has now been converted into a museum and gift shop. It is situated on almost 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land. It frequently hosts American Civil War reenactments, with a focus on events connected to Bleeding Kansas and bushwhackers. There is also an in-house blacksmith and other various era-specific artisans. The original farm was founded by James Beatty Mahaffie and his wife Lucinda, in 1858. They ran it until 1870 and stayed on the farm until 1886. The existing house was completed by Mahaffie in 1865. It includes two foot thick limestone blocks quarried from the farm itself.The Mahaffies left their name not only on the museum, but on a street in Olathe, Mahaffie Elementary School, and on a recent subdivision.

On February 22, 2017, Adam Purinton shot two Indian men, Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani, whom he had allegedly mistaken for Iranians, at a restaurant in Olathe, Kansas, killing Kuchibhotla. He reportedly yelled "get out of my country" and "terrorist" before firing. A third man, Ian Grillot, was wounded after he came to the two men's aid. Several hours later, Purinton was arrested in Clinton, Missouri.
