Higashino Station (東野駅, Higashino-eki) is a train station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Tōzai Line in Yamashina-ku, Kyoto, Japan.

Kyoto Pharmaceutical University (京都薬科大学, Kyoto yakka daigaku) is a private university in Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan. The school's predecessor was founded in 1884. It was chartered as a university in 1949. Because it trains pharmacist-scientists, pharmacists that also possess research skills, Kyoto Pharmaceutical University has laboratories in a wide range of fields. Each laboratory has about 10 members that focus on their research. Students perform research for their pharmaceutical specializations.

Yamashina (山科区, Yamashina-ku) is one of the eleven wards in the city of Kyoto, in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It lies in the southeastern part of the city, and Yamashina Station is one stop away from Kyoto Station on the Tōkaidō Main Line (Biwako Line). The area of Yamashina-ku is 28.70 km2. As of October 1, 2021 the population of Yamashina-ku was 134,253. Historically, Yamashina was an important point for traffic connecting Kyoto and east part of Japan. In the Edo period, it flourished as a post town along the Tōkaidō road. In modern times, Yamashina has become a bed town for those commuting to urban areas of Kyoto and Osaka.

The Yamashina Botanical Research Institute (山科植物資料館) is a research botanical garden specializing in medicinal herbs, operated by Nippon Shinyaku and located at Oyakesaka no tsujicho 39, Yamashina-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto, Japan. It is open from Monday through Friday; please write ahead for permission to visit. The institute was established in 1934. Today its garden is 8,000 m² in extent, and consists of one large and two small greenhouses, an arboretum, an herb garden, and a botany school with library and laboratories. It contains more than 3,000 species of medicinal and useful plants, including rare species of orchid, and cultivars of marijuana from around the world.

Kwasan Observatory is a Japanese observatory in the Kyoto University founded in 1929. Issei Yamamoto was the first director of the observatory.

Kankikō-ji (歓喜光寺) is a Buddhist temple affiliated with Ji-shū, located in Yamashina-ku, Kyoto, Japan. It was founded in 1291 by Shōkai (聖戒) with the support of Grand Chancellor Kujō Tadanori. Shōkai was a close relative and disciple of Ippen, the founder of Ji shū. During its history, the temple suffered several fires and was completely moved on several occasions: notably between 1573 and 1592, in 1907 and finally in 1975. In addition to the main hall dedicated to Amida, Kankikō-ji includes several secondary temples including one dedicated to Jizō Bosatsu. Kankikō-ji is best known for holding the original Illustrated Biography of the Itinerant Monk Ippen (National Treasure) since 1299, which is both the oldest surviving document on Ippen's life and the founding of Ji shū and a major work of art among Kamakura period emakimono. The temple is still the legal owner, but for preservation reasons the work is stored at the Kyoto and Nara National Museums.

Kyoto Tachibana University (京都橘大学, Kyōto Tachibana Daigaku) is a private university in Yamashina, Kyoto, Japan. The university was founded in 1967 (1967) as a private university for women with the motto "to encourage and foster independent women". In 2005, the university became co-educational.
