Lambertville, New Jersey

The Kalmia Club is a women's club established in 1892 in the city of Lambertville in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. It has used the house at 39 York Street as its clubhouse since 1893. The Italianate wood-frame house was built around 1870 and expanded in 1882. It was listed as a contributing property of the Lambertville Historic District on June 30, 1983. It was later added individually to the National Register of Historic Places on April 16, 2012, for its significance in education, entertainment, and social history. The Kalmia Club was listed as part of the Clubhouses of New Jersey Women's Clubs Multiple Property Submission (MPS).

The Lambertville Historic District is a 198-acre (80 ha) historic district encompassing the community centered around the intersection of Route 29 and Route 179 in the city of Lambertville in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 30, 1983, for its significance in architecture, commerce, industry, and settlement. It includes 680 contributing buildings, and two contributing structures.

Lambertville High School, built in 1854 in Lambertville, New Jersey, US, was the former school of the Lambertville school district. A fire destroyed much of the school in 1926, but it was remodeled and rebuilt in 1927 and used until June 1960. It sat (as some from the town have stated) like a museum from then on, on top of the hill overlooking Lambertville and the Delaware River. The school was closed after the 1960 class graduated as it was too small and outdated for the growing area. Many small-town high schools were closed in the 1950s and 1960s across New Jersey, as the state consolidated school districts and replaced obsolete schools like Lambertville High with modern, suburban facilities that could serve larger regional areas. South Hunterdon Regional High School was scheduled to replace Lambertville High and to open for classes in September 1959, but construction was unexpectedly delayed, and so the switchover did not take place until September 1960, with Lambertville High continuing to serve local students during that year. The old "school on the hill" was then used as a place to sell electronics for many years, until it eventually sat empty and abandoned, though structurally intact, until vandals set a fire in 1992 which destroyed most of the building's interior and essentially gutted most of the structure, including the roof. The school was demolished in fall 2012.

The James W. Marshall House, located at 60 Bridge Street in the city of Lambertville in Hunterdon County, United States, was the boyhood home of James W. Marshall. Marshall's discovery of gold in the American River in California in January 1848 set the stage for the California Gold Rush. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 18, 1970, for its significance in architecture and history. It now serves as the headquarters for the Lambertville Historical Society, and is open to the public as an historic house museum.

The Lambertville City School District is a defunct community public school district that served students in preschool through sixth grade from Lambertville, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2014–15 school year, the school is part of the South Hunterdon Regional School District, which also serves students from Stockton and West Amwell Township. In a special election held in September 2013, voters from Lambertville, Stockton and West Amwell Township passed referendums to dissolve the South Hunterdon Regional School District and to combine the three existing school districts from each municipality (Lambertville City School District, Stockton Borough School District and West Amwell Township School District), with majorities in each community passing both ballot items. A single combined regional district would be created, serving students in PreK-12, in which property taxes would be levied under a formula in which 57% is based on property values and 43% on the number of students. The executive county superintendent will appoint an interim board of education for the new regional district, which will be responsible for implementing the merger.As of the 2011–12 school year, the district's one school had an enrollment of 203 students and 16.1 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.61:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "FG", the fourth-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. From lowest socioeconomic status to highest, the categories are A, B, CD, DE, FG, GH, I and J.Public school students in seventh through twelfth grades attend the South Hunterdon Regional High School in Lambertville, part of the South Hunterdon Regional High School District, which served 372 students in southern Hunterdon County as of the 2011–12 school year. Students from Lambertville, Stockton and West Amwell Township attend South Hunterdon Regional High School.

The New Hope–Lambertville Bridge, officially called the New Hope–Lambertville Toll Supported Bridge, is a six-span, 1,053-foot (321 m)-long bridge spanning the Delaware River that connects Lambertville, New Jersey and New Hope, Pennsylvania. The current steel truss bridge was constructed in 1904 at a cost of $63,818.81. It is owned and maintained as a toll-free bridge by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.

Aquetong Creek is a tributary of the Delaware River in Solebury Township and New Hope, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Rising from the Aquetong Spring, now known as Ingham Spring, just south of the intersection of U.S. Route 202, Lower Mountain Road, and Ingham Road, it runs about 10.75 miles (17.30 km) to its confluence with the Delaware.

New Hope is a borough in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,612 at the 2020 census. New Hope is located approximately 30 mi (48 km) north of Philadelphia, and lies on the west bank of the Delaware River at its confluence with Aquetong Creek. New Hope and neighboring Solebury and Upper Makefield townships are part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The two-lane New Hope–Lambertville Bridge carries automobile and foot traffic across the Delaware to Lambertville, New Jersey, on the east bank. New Hope's primary industry is tourism.

The Bucks County Playhouse is located in New Hope, Pennsylvania. When the Hope Mills burned in 1790, Benjamin Parry rebuilt the grist mills as the New Hope Mills. The town was renamed for the mills. The building was saved from demolition in the 1930s. It was purchased and run by a group of people including playwrights Moss Hart and Kenyon Nicholson. Renovations converting the building into a theater began in 1938. The first production at the new Bucks County Playhouse was Springtime for Henry featuring Edward Everett Horton. It opened on July 1, 1939. The Bucks County Playhouse became a summer theater. It was the starting point for many actors and became a place where plays slated for Broadway were tried out. Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park, starring Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley, had its premiere at the theater in 1963. Other notable actors who performed at the theater over the years include Bela Lugosi, Dick Van Dyke, Tyne Daly, Grace Kelly, Angela Lansbury, and Walter Matthau.The Bucks County Playhouse Conservancy, a public/private partnership, raised sufficient funds to regain the property following a 2010 foreclosure. Following an extensive renovation, the theater reopened on July 2, 2012. It is a member company of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance.
