Mount Mitten is a 3,058 foot (932 meter) peak in the Dartmouth Range in New Hampshire. It is named for a mitten that Timothy Nash lost when climbing a tree atop the mountain to get his bearings. He saw Crawford Notch.

The South Branch of the Israel River is a 6.8-mile-long (10.9 km) river in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Israel River and part of the Connecticut River watershed. For most of its length, it is within the White Mountain National Forest. The South Branch rises on the western slopes of Mount Jefferson in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains. It flows west, between the Ridge of the Caps to the south and Castellated Ridge to the north, then turns northwest when it reaches the Jefferson Notch Road. The river parallels the notch road and enters the town of Jefferson, where it joins the Israel River.

Mount Jefferson is located in Coos County, New Hampshire, and is the third highest mountain in the state. The mountain is named after Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States, and is part of the Presidential Range of the White Mountains. Mount Jefferson is flanked by Mount Adams (to the northeast) and Mount Clay (to the south). The mountain has several interesting features, making it a popular hike. Two distinct ridges lead to its summit: Ridge of the Caps and Castle Ridge. The mountain is surrounded by the three dramatic glacial cirques of Jefferson Ravine, Castle Ravine, and the Great Gulf. Finally, Monticello Lawn is a large expanse of alpine sedge and rush near the otherwise talus-covered summit cone. When viewed from the Mount Washington Auto Road, Jefferson features an arrow-shaped bald patch pointing to its summit. Mount Jefferson has a direct ascent along the Caps Ridge Trail, whose base, Jefferson Notch, is the highest point of any public road in New Hampshire at 3,009 feet (917 m). This route, gaining only 2,700 feet (823 m) vertically to the summit, results in it having the least distance of ascent of any Presidential mountain (about 2.5 miles). However, climbing over the "caps" involves some exposed scrambling and can be steep and challenging at times.

The Great Gulf is a glacial cirque, or amphitheater-like valley head formed from a glacier by erosion, located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The cirque's walls are formed, from south to north, by the mountainsides of Mount Washington (6,288 ft; 1,917 m), Mount Clay (5,533 ft; 1,686 m), Mount Jefferson (5,716 ft; 1,742 m), Mount Adams (5,799 ft; 1,768 m), and Mount Madison (5,366 ft; 1,636 m). It is drained by the West Branch of the Peabody River. The Great Gulf Wilderness is a protected wilderness area encompassing the cirque of the Great Gulf, and is part of the National Wilderness Preservation System. Established in 1964, Great Gulf is New Hampshire's oldest and smallest wilderness area, comprising just 5,552 acres (22.47 km2).

Mount Adams, elevation 5,793 feet (1,766 m) above sea level, is a mountain in New Hampshire, the second highest peak in the Northeast United States after its nearby neighbor, Mount Washington. Located in the northern Presidential Range, Mount Adams was named after John Adams, the second President of the United States. It was given this name on July 31, 1820. To the northeast is Mount Madison and to the southwest is Mount Jefferson. From the summit, Mount Washington can be seen directly to the south. There are two major subsidiary peaks of Mount Adams: Mount Sam Adams and Mount Quincy Adams, named after John Adams' cousin, Revolutionary leader Samuel Adams, and son, President John Quincy Adams, respectively, and two minor sub-peaks, Abigail Adams (named for John Adams' wife Abigail) and Adams 5. The northern side of the mountain ridge is located in Low and Burbank's Grant, and the end of Durand Ridge, and King Ravine, on the north side of Mount Adams are in the town of Randolph (formerly Durand). The entire south side of the mountain ridge is in Thompson and Meserve's Purchase. The Appalachian Trail traverses the col between Mount Adams and Mount Sam Adams on the Gulfside Trail. The Randolph Mountain Club (RMC) maintains the trails and several huts and shelters high on Mount Adams' north side, including "The Perch", "Crag Camp", "The Log Cabin", and "Gray Knob". A large network of hiking and climbing paths lead south to the huts and ridges from several parking areas located on U.S. Highway 2. The Aetherius Society claims that Mount Adams is one of 19 "holy mountains" around the world.

Thompson and Meserve's Purchase is a township in Coös County, New Hampshire, United States. The purchase lies entirely within the White Mountain National Forest. As of the 2020 census, the population of the purchase was 1.In New Hampshire, locations, grants, townships (which are different from towns), and purchases are unincorporated portions of a county which are not part of any town and have limited self-government (if any, as many are uninhabited). Thompson and Meserve's Purchase is notable for encompassing the northern slope of Mount Washington, including a large portion of the Mount Washington Auto Road and Cog Railway.

Mount Madison is a 5,367-foot (1,636 m) mountain in the Presidential Range of New Hampshire in the United States. It is named after the fourth U.S. President, James Madison. Mountains in the Presidential Range are named for U.S. presidents, with the tallest (Mount Washington) named for the first president, the second tallest (Mount Adams) for the second president, and so on. However, due to a surveying error, Mount Monroe, named after the fifth president, James Monroe, is actually 22 feet (6.7 m) taller than Mount Madison. There are many hiking trails on the mountain. A stretch of the Appalachian Trail traverses just below its summit on the Osgood Trail. The Madison Spring Hut, maintained by the Appalachian Mountain Club, is nestled between Mount Madison and Mount Adams and provides rustic lodging in the summer. Reservations generally need to be made far in advance. Mount Madison is the northernmost peak in the Presidentials. Like most of the range, its summit is above treeline. Due to high winds and low temperatures, hypothermia is a danger even in the summer.

The Mount Washington Auto Road—originally the Mount Washington Carriage Road—is a 7.6 mi (12.2 km) toll road in southern Coos County, New Hampshire that extends from New Hampshire Route 16 in Green's Grant, just north of Pinkham Notch, westward across Pinkham's Grant and Thompson and Meserve's Purchase to the summit of Mount Washington in the White Mountains of the US state of New Hampshire. The road climbs 4,618 ft (1,408 m) from an altitude of 1,527 ft (465 m) at the bottom to 6,145 ft (1,873 m) at the top, an average gradient of 11.6%. The road was completed and opened to the public in 1861.

The Mount Washington Hillclimb Auto Race, also known as the Climb to the Clouds, is a timed hillclimb auto race up the Mount Washington Auto Road to the summit of Mount Washington in New Hampshire. It is one of the oldest auto races in the country, first run on July 11 and 12, 1904, predating the Indianapolis 500 and the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. The event was revived in 2011 and was held again in 2014 and 2017.

Randolph is a heavily forested town in Coös County, New Hampshire, United States, extending from the northern slopes of the White Mountains of the Presidential Range (to the south) to the Crescent Range and Berlin (to the north), with U.S. Route 2 cutting through the middle. The northern and southern parts of Randolph are within the White Mountain National Forest and the Ice Gulch Town Forest, while the central part is the settled portion of town. As of the 2020 census, the town had a population of 328.Randolph is part of the Berlin, NH–VT Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The Crescent Range, sometimes referred to as the Randolph Mountains, is located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in the United States. The highest peak in the range is Black Crescent Mountain, with an elevation of 3,264 feet (995 m).

Mount Crescent is a mountain located in the Crescent Range of the White Mountains in Randolph, New Hampshire. It is 3,251 ft (991 m) high, and its summit is the second highest mountain summit in Randolph, after Black Crescent Mountain (3,264 feet, 995 m). Both mountains are in Randolph's Ice Gulch Town Forest. On the 1896 topographic map, Mount Crescent is shown as "Randolph Mtn." with an elevation of 3,280 ft, and Black Crescent is shown as "Mt. Crescent" with an elevation of 3,322 ft. The southeast side of Mount Crescent drains into Moose Brook, thence into the Androscoggin River, which drains into Merrymeeting Bay, the estuary of the Kennebec River, and thence into the Gulf of Maine. The southwest end of Mt. Crescent drains into Carlton Brook, thence into the Moose River, a different stream which is also a tributary of the Androscoggin River. The northwest side of Crescent drains into the Upper Ammonoosuc River, thence into Connecticut River, which drains into Long Island Sound in Connecticut. Mount Crescent may be reached by hiking trails from either the north, via Pond of Safety Road (sometimes shown as Stag Hollow Road) and Bog Dam Road, or from the south, via Randolph Hill Road.
