Cardowan

Stepps railway station serves the town of Stepps, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The railway station is located on the Cumbernauld Line, 5¼ miles (8 km) north east of Glasgow Queen Street (High Level) and is managed by ScotRail.

The Molendinar Burn is a burn in Glasgow, Scotland. It was the site of the settlement, Mellingdenor, that grew to become the kernel of Glasgow, and where St Mungo founded his church in the 6th century. It was later used to power the growing town's mills and the name became adapted because the word "molendinar" means "relating to a mill or millers", possibly because that is what the Welsh name Mellingdenor originally meant.

Stepps is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, near the north-eastern outskirts of Glasgow. Its recently upgraded amenities include a new primary school, library and sports facilities. The town retains a historic heart around its church in Whitehill Avenue, whilst examples of Victorian and Edwardian housing can still be found. The travel connections by road and rail mean residents work in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Stirling and beyond. The town is located in close proximity to the new Seven Lochs Wetland Park, from which views to the Campsies and Loch Lomond can be enjoyed. Stepps has a population of around 6,730.

Glasgow Fort is a large out-of-town shopping and leisure park located in Glasgow, Scotland, just off Junction 10 of the M8 motorway which runs to the south, surrounded by the residential areas of Provanhall, Garthamlock and Easterhouse. It was opened in 2004 built on land which had been part of Auchinlea Park (previously the site of two quarries) which still exists to its immediate east.

Garthamlock is a suburb in the north-east of the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated north of the River Clyde. Provanhall is the nearest neighbourhood to the east; Craigend is directly to the west with Hogganfield Park and Ruchazie beyond. Garthamlock is separated from Cranhill and Queenslie to the south by the M8 motorway (Junction 11 of which directly serves the area). An area of open ground (Cardowan Moss nature reserve) is to the north. The local landmarks are two water towers, which are illuminated at night.Garthamlock was developed from 1954 onwards as part of the 'Greater Easterhouse' rehousing scheme after the city bought the estate of Garthamlock House; the house was demolished in 1955 to make way for a new secondary school (which itself closed in the 1990s). After many of the original tenements were demolished from the 1980s onwards, the area is now a mix of local authority housing and private stock, particularly following the construction of a major private development (The Beeches) by Persimmon Homes in the 2010s. The Glasgow Fort shopping centre was built to the east of Garthamlock, partly on a disused quarry and partly on the grounds of Provan Hall House and Park (Easterhouse). In 2016, Glasgow City Council outlined masterplans for the development of the Greater Easterhouse area (including Garthamlock) over the next 20 years.

Provan Hall (also known over time as Provanhall, Hall of Provan and 'Hall Mailings) is a historic place composed of two buildings built about the 15th century and situated in Auchinlea Park, Easterhouse, Glasgow. It is owned by the National Trust for Scotland and managed by Glasgow City Council. The two parallel buildings, enclosing a courtyard, are protected as a category A listed building.

Provanhall is a neighbourhood of Easterhouse in east Glasgow, Scotland. It is named after the estate and medieval house, Provan Hall.The area is to the immediate east of Provan Hall and Glasgow Fort shopping centre and to the north of Shandwick Square Shopping Centre. The area is bounded by Gartloch fields, part of Glasgow's greenbelt with North Lanarkshire. Part of the estate was built on the remains of Provan Loch, part of the kettle ponds in the area that feed the Molendinar burn that flows into the River Clyde in Glasgow.

Queenslie is a district in the Scottish city of Glasgow. Established in the 1950s as a large industrial estate with a small area of residential housing with a primary school, by the late 1990s the condition of the tenement properties had deteriorated and the local authority decided to demolish them altogether and extend the industrial provision, which in the early 21st century is the largest such dedicated estate in the city (Hillington falls just outside the city boundaries).

Auchinloch (Scottish Gaelic: Achadh an Locha) is a village in Scotland, situated within the North Lanarkshire local authority area but very close to the boundary with East Dunbartonshire and sharing the G66 postcode of the town of Kirkintilloch and the adjoining village of Lenzie, located a short distance to the north. Other nearby settlements in North Lanarkshire are Stepps to the south and Chryston to the south-east, each approximately 1.3 miles (2.1 km) away across farmland and on the opposite side of the M80 motorway; the Glasgow City council area boundary and the suburb of Robroyston is about the same distance to the west. In previous years Auchinloch was in the Parish of Cadder and, from 1975 until 1996, the district of Strathkelvin within Strathclyde Region. The village's name - "Field of the Loch" - derives from its proximity to a small loch called the Gadloch. The area was sometimes known as the Loch Lands.

Garnkirk is a settlement in North Lanarkshire, located a mile (1.5 km) southwest of Muirhead. It is located 10 km northeast of Glasgow's city centre and 23 km southwest of Falkirk. Garnkirk is connected via the nearby motorways M8, M73 and M80. This provides access to Cumbernauld, Glasgow and Stirling. The nearest modern railway stations are in Gartcosh and Stepps.

Craigend is a neighbourhood in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated north of the River Clyde, immediately west of Garthamlock, east of Hogganfield Park and Ruchazie and separated from Cranhill and Queenslie to the south by the M8 motorway (Junction 11 of which directly serves the area). An area of open ground (Cardowan Moss nature reserve) is to the north. The local landmarks are two water towers, which are illuminated at night. In the 1970s and 1980s Craigend was considered a high amenity area due to the large number of back and front door houses, compared to tenements in the neighbouring areas of Ruchazie and Garthamlock. The building fabric of Craigend is now somewhat poorer than these areas which as they have been revigorated and rebuilt as part of the city's East End regeneration scheme. Craigend has three schools, Sunnyside and Avenue End (which are non-denominational) and St Rose of Lima (Roman Catholic).

Millerston is a district partially in the Scottish city of Glasgow and partially in North Lanarkshire. It is situated north of the River Clyde, to the north of the city's Craigend, Garthamlock and Ruchazie neighbourhoods, but physically separated from them by parkland and wooded areas. It is also home to the playing fields of Glasgow's St Aloysius College and Strathclyde University. Whilst part of Millerston belongs to Glasgow City Council, the other part is served by North Lanarkshire Council. The official Millerston boundary starts at Hogganfield Loch stretching all the way down Cumbernauld Road as far as Laundry Lane but in recent times, the area has been incorporated into the larger town of Stepps which is entirely within North Lanarkshire. Millerston enjoys a convenient location due to its close proximity to Glasgow City Centre and has been identified as one of the growth areas for Glasgow City Council. A train station (at Robroyston, with a new road connecting Millerston to the suburb of that name - they were previously separated by fields) is in the pipeline as are many new homes and businesses. The area has countryside on the doorstep along with many pleasant places to walk locally such as Hogganfield Park. Millerston sits between the M8 and M80 motorway networks, making it popular for commuting throughout the Central Belt. The new railway station approach road will also allow access to Junction 2 of the M80, a quicker connection for local residents who currently must travel through Stepps to Junction 3; however, this may also increase traffic in the area. There are two public houses in Millerston, The Dug and Duck and The Real MacKay. The district is also home to a fish and chip shop, a curry house, a Chinese take-away, a convenience store, a post office and a small church, Millerston United Free Church of Scotland.
