Santa Ana (canton)

Uruca is a district of the Santa Ana canton, in the San José province of Costa Rica. It is popularly called "Río de Oro".

Centro de Conservación de Santa Ana (Santa Ana Conservation Center, CCSA) is a wilderness area of approximately 52 hectares (130 acres), located in the Uruca district, in the canton of Santa Ana, Costa Rica. It has an average altitude of 900 meters and is bounded to the east by the bed of the river Uruca. The site includes patches of one of the last remnants of dry tropical forest in the Central Valley, trails, Agricultural Historical Museum, soccer field, picnic area, a species of wild and domestic animals and a nursery of forest species. It is administered by a conservation nonprofit foundation called Fundación Pro Zoológicos (Fundazoo), which also is responsible for the country's largest zoo, the Simón Bolivar National Zoo and Botanic Garden.

Santa Ana is a district and head city of the Santa Ana canton, in the San José province of Costa Rica. The city acts as seat to the municipal government of the Santa Ana Canton.

Salitral is a district of the Santa Ana canton, in the San José province of Costa Rica.

Pozos is a district in Santa Ana canton, San José province of Costa Rica. It was created in 1907. The principal avenue of the district carries the name of Lindora, which is also used to name the district and its surroundings.

The Cerro Cedral is the second highest mountain of the Cerros de Escazú, Costa Rica with 2,420 m (7,940 ft). Cedral means 'cedar forest' referring to an endangered tree species locally known as Cedro Dulce, which occurs there.This mountain marks the southern limit of Escazú as a canton and of San José as a province. The Agres river rises from the Cerro Cedral. On January 15, 1990 a Sansa Airlines flight crashed into the Cerro Cedral killing all 23 crew and passengers on board. The pilot, flying a CASA C-212 Aviocar, was later determined to be under excessive fatigue at the moment.

Brasil is a district of the Santa Ana canton, in the San José province of Costa Rica.

Escazú is the second canton in the province of San José in Costa Rica.The canton lies west of the San José Canton and its whole territory is part of the Greater Metropolitan Area. The canton was one of the earliest established in the country, in 7 December 1848. As the metropolitan area has expanded Escazú has become a suburban area on the west side of the national capital city of San José. It is delineated by the Río Tiribí on its northern border. The peak of Cerro Cedral in the Cerros de Escazú marks the southern limit of the canton.

Escazú Hills Protected Zone (Spanish: Zona Protectora Cerros de Escazú), is a protected area in Costa Rica, managed under the Central Conservation Area, it was created in 1976 by executive decree 6112-A.

The Partido de Nicoya was a major part of what is now the Guanacaste province in Costa Rica. Originally the territory was bounded on the northeast by the La Flor river and Lake Cocibolca, or Lake Nicaragua, on the south by Costa Rica (Gulf of Nicoya, Tempisque River, Salto River), and on the east by a line that joins the northernmost part of the Gulf of Nicoya to the mouth of the San Juan River.
