Telfs

Pfaffenhofen (German pronunciation: [pfafn̩ˈhoːfn̩] ) is a municipality in the district of Innsbruck-Land in the Austrian state of Tyrol located 22 km west of Innsbruck and 1.7 km south of Telfs. The village was mentioned in documents in 1197 for the first time.

It is a peculiarity that the village has no sun during winter time because of the height of the Stubai Alps. The village is mentioned in documents dating from the year 1264 and has been a community since the year 1325. The main source of income is tourism.

The Rietzer Grießkogel (also: Grieskogel) is a mountain, 2,884 m (AA), and the highest peak in the Northern Sellrain Mountains, part of the Stubai Alps in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The summit is easily climbed on path no. 153. The first documented ascent was undertaken in 1829 by Innsbruck botanist, Andrä Sauter, a brother of Anton Sauter. As a result of its easy accessibility on well marked paths from Telfs in the Inn Valley and from the Sellrain Valley, it is a popular destination. Its name is derived from the village of Rietz at its northern foot in the district of Imst in the upper Inn valley.

Sankt Sigmund im Sellrain is a municipality in western Austria, in the district of Innsbruck-Land in the state of Tyrol located 23.3 kilometres (14.5 mi) southeast of Innsbruck, in the deepest part of the Sellrain Valley. It has a large area and the highest elevation. The main source of income is winter tourism.

The Wildmoossee is an aperiodic mountain lake, 3 kilometres west of Seefeld in Tirol near the village of Wildmoos in the market borough of Telfs. The lake lies in the area of the water-soluble main dolomite of the Seefeld Plateau at a height of 1,316 metres. As a result the ground underneath contains chasms that reach up to the bottom of the lake. About every four years, so much groundwater builds up as a result of precipitation and snow meltwater that it is forced upwards out of the chasms under pressure and emerges spring-like at the surface, filling the lake basin. The highest water levels are usually reached in May. In late autumn, the lake empties itself again. This cycle can change due to the variable level of water resulting from variations in precipitation. The same karst landscape related phenomenon occurs at the Lottensee lake, 1.5 kilometres to the southwest.
