De Punt is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Tynaarlo, and lies about 11 km south of Groningen. The village closely cooperates with Yde and they are often referred to as Yde-De Punt, however both are still separate villages.

During World War II, there was a forced labour camp near Yde which mainly consisted of people arrest in neighbouring Friesland. The labourers had to build a defence line.

On May 9, 2008, three Dutch firefighters lost their lives tackling a blaze at a large commercial building situated in a shipyard in the village of De Punt in the Dutch province of Drenthe. The firefighters, Anne Kregel, Raymond Soyer and Egbert Ubels entered the building not knowing that a layer of highly combustible smoke and gas had built up under the roof. This ignited, resulting in a sudden spread of the fire accompanied by a major explosion that resulted in their deaths.

Oosterbroek is a mansion and a former hamlet in the Dutch province of Drenthe. The mansion is located about 2 km east of Eelde, in the municipality of Tynaarlo. The hamlet was located around the mansion. The mansion was a havezate which was a requirement to be admitted to the Knights of Drenthe. Around 1850, it had 3 houses and about 25 inhabitants. It was still considered to be a separate settlement in 1997, but the name no longer appears on the newest topographical maps. As of 2021, it is a statistical entity with Groningen Airport Eelde, however the postal authorities have put it under Eelde.

The Appèlbergen is a forest to the east of the village of Glimmen. It's located in the province of Groningen. In the Second World War, the Germans buried 34 people secretly after they had killed them. Of the 34 people, 15 have never been recovered. Between 1949 and 2004, there were several attempts to find the buried people. In 2004, there has been placed a monument for the victims.

Yde Girl (English: ) is a bog body found in the Stijfveen peat bog near the village of Yde, Netherlands. She was found on 12 May 1897 and was reputedly uncannily well-preserved when discovered (especially her hair), but by the time the body was turned over to the authorities two weeks later, it had been severely damaged and deteriorated. Most of her teeth and hair had been pulled from the skull. The peat cutting tools had also been reported to have severely damaged the body.

De Poll, formerly De Pol, is an estate at Pollselaan 5 south of Glimmen in the municipality of Groningen, Netherlands. The estate is located in the valley of the Drentsche Aa. The golf course of the Noord-Nederlandse Golf & Country Club has been located on the estate since 1953. The estate is covered by the Dutch 'Natural Beauty Act' (Natuurschoonwet) of 1928 that provides tax benefits to owners, usufructuaries and leaseholders of country estates.

The Drentsche Aa (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌdrɛntsə ˈʔaː]) is a river rising in the Dutch province of Drenthe, flowing through Drenthe and for the last part the province of Groningen. It ends in the Schipsloot near Haren, which flows into the Noord-Willemskanaal; however, originally it ended into the Selwerderdiep. The water finally ends in the Lauwersmeer and Waddenzee. In Groningen and the northernmost part of Drenthe the water is known as Drentsche Aa (sometimes Aa in Groningen), but in Drenthe it has a multitude of local names, such as Deurzerdiep, Looner Diep, Taarlosche Diep, Oudemolensche Diep, Schipborgsche Diep, and Westerdiep. A large part of the catchment of the Drentsche Aa is located in the Drentsche Aa National Landscape.

Glimmen is a village in the northeastern Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Groningen, about 10 kilometres from the city. It had a population of around 1,342 in 2021. The river Drentsche Aa flows past the village, nearby the Huis te Glimmen (House in Glimmen), a stately home on the site. The Appèlbergen is a forest to the east of the village. Through this wood leads an old Roman road, known as the Hereweg (from 'Heir-weg' or "army road").

Groningen Airport Eelde is located near the village. Eelde was a separate municipality until 1998, when it was merged with Vries and Zuidlaren.During the 20th century, the villages of Eelde and Paterswolde have merged into one, "Eelde-Paterswolde". In 2012, Eelde counted 6,660 inhabitants, and Paterswolde 3,680, together 10,340 inhabitants.Its major attractions are Groningen Airport Eelde, museum "De Buitenplaats", the annual flower parade and the lake "Paterswoldse meer".

Tynaarlo (pronounced [tiˈnaːrloː] ; Gronings: Tynaorl) is a village and municipality in the Northeastern Netherlands. Although it is located in the province of Drenthe, many of its communities serve as suburbs of the neighbouring city of Groningen, capital of the eponymous province. In 2019, the municipality of Tynaarlo had a population of 33,698.
