Oranga is a small residential suburb in Auckland, New Zealand. It is located nine kilometres to the southeast of the city centre, between the commercial suburbs of Te Papapa and Penrose to the south and east, and the residential suburbs of One Tree Hill and Onehunga to the north and south. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "place of rising ground" for Ōranga.It used to be a state housing neighbourhood for low-income families, but it is rapidly gentrifying. Private investors have bought many of the state houses for renovation, and to subdivide their generous sections. Real estate agents increasingly advertise these houses as belonging to the wealthier suburb of One Tree Hill. Local facilities include Oranga Kindergarten (neighbouring Fergusson Domain), and Oranga School. The local secondary schools are One Tree Hill College, Marcellin College and Onehunga High School.

Te Papapa Onehunga Rugby Football & Sports Club is a rugby union club based in Auckland, New Zealand. The club was established in 1944 and is affiliated with the Auckland Rugby Football Union. In addition to rugby union, the club is also active in netball, touch rugby, squash, darts, indoor bowls and cricket. At senior level, the club fields several teams, including Premier and Reserve grade sides, through a joint venture with Mt Wellington.

Mount Smart (Māori: Rarotonga; officially Rarotonga / Mount Smart and also known as Te Ipu kura a Maki) is one of the volcanoes and Tūpuna Maunga (ancestral mountain) in the Auckland volcanic field. A century of quarrying removed almost all the 87 meter scoria cone along with extensive terracing excavated by Māori. The former quarry is now the site of Mount Smart Stadium.

The Waikaraka Cycleway is an off-road cycleway in the south of the Auckland isthmus, New Zealand, running from the suburb of Wesley along New Zealand State Highway 20 to Onehunga and then continuing along the shoreline of the Manukau Harbour (Māngere Inlet) beside mostly industrialised areas until it ends at Hugo Johnston Drive, in Southdown.

One Tree Hill (Māori: Tōtara-i-Āhua or Maungakiekie) is a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. The residential part of the suburb is located to the east and south-east of Maungakiekie / One Tree Hill, from which it takes its name, with the volcanic peak located within the suburb's boundaries. The suburb was established in the 1930s. Many period bungalows remain. Cornwall Park and Maungakiekie are major attractions within the suburb.

Our Lady of the Assumption (also known as The Church of the Assumption) is a heritage-listed Catholic church located in Auckland, New Zealand. It is located in the suburb of Onehunga on the corner of Church Street and Galway Street. Built between 1887-9 the church is situated within a 1840s denominational cemetery which houses the gravesites of many of Onehunga's fencible colonial settlers.The notable landmark of the Onehunga suburb has historical links to key members in the Catholic Diocese of Auckland such as Bishop John Edmund Luck (b.1848 d.1896), Priest of the Order of Saint Benedict and Bishop of Auckland, New Zealand who lies in the church vault.

Carey Baptist College is a Bible and theological college for training in mission, ministry, and formation based in Auckland, New Zealand. It is the theological college of the Baptist Churches of New Zealand. The college was founded in 1924 as New Zealand Baptist Theological College. It held its first classes in 1926, originally training men to be ministers for Baptist churches in New Zealand. Its first principal was J.J. North. The college was renamed in 1992 to Carey Baptist College after the English Baptist missionary William Carey.

One Tree Hill College is a state coeducational secondary school located in the district of Ellerslie in Auckland, New Zealand. One Tree Hill College, formerly known as Penrose High School, opened on 1 February 1955. In 2019 it had a student body of 1160 consisting of more than 40 different cultures.The governing body for the college since 1989 has been the One Tree Hill College Board of Trustees. It provides curriculum, discipline and financial oversight but day-to-day management of the college, within the board's policy framework, is handled by the principal and the senior leadership team.

St Peter's Anglican Church is a Selwyn church in Auckland, New Zealand. The church is located in the suburb of Onehunga, on the corner of Onehunga Mall Road and Church Street. It is one of Auckland's first churches, with the site being allocated in 1847 and construction completed in 1848. Situated next to the church is a cemetery which houses the gravesites of many of the area's fencible colonial settlers including the first woman Mayor of the British Empire, Elizabeth Yates.
