Borstendorf is a village and a former municipality in the district Erzgebirgskreis, in Saxony, Germany. Since 1 January 2015 it is part of the municipality Grünhainichen.

Waldkirchen is a village and former municipality in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, in Saxony, Germany. Since 1 March 2009 it has been part of the municipality of Grünhainichen.Waldkirchen grew outwards in the direction of Grünhainichen from a church erected at the end of the village, from which the name of the village is derived ("forest church"), along an unnamed side valley of the river Zschopau. With the Reformation in 1539 Waldkirchen became an independent parish. The settlement of Zschopenthal (mentioned in church records for the first time in 1663) was established on the river Zschopau itself where, in 1687, a paintworks was built.

Augustusburg (German pronunciation: [aʊˈɡʊstʊsbʊɐ̯k] ) is a town in the district of Mittelsachsen, in Saxony, Germany. It is situated 12 km east of Chemnitz. Augustusburg is known for its Jagdschloss, the hunting lodge of the same name. The town includes the ortsteil or town quarters of: Augustusburg Erdmannsdorf Grünberg Hennersdorf KunnersdorfA funicular railway, the Augustusburg Cable Railway, connects Erdmannsdorf-Augustusburg station, in the village of Erdmannsdorf and on the Zschopau Valley Railway, with the town.

The hunting lodge of Augustusburg (German: Jagdschloss Augustusburg) was built from 1568 to 1572 above the town of the same name on a hill called the Schellenberg (516 m above sea level (NN)) on the northern edge of the Ore Mountains of Germany. The castle, which is visible from afar, is a local landmark. It lies about 12 kilometres east of the city of Chemnitz and about 21 kilometres southwest of Freiberg in the Free State of Saxony. In building a new castle, Prince Elector Augustus wanted not just to create a prestigious palace for his hunting trips, but also to underline his leading position in Central Germany. The immediate occasion for its construction was his victory in the Grumbach Brawl (Grumbachsche Händel). By enforcing the imperial ban on his Ernestine rivals – John Frederick the Middle and outlawed knight, Wilhelm von Grumbach, who sought refuge with John Frederick – the Albertine elector, Augustus, was able secure his supremacy over the Ernestines. He was also given the Ämter of Weida, Ziegenrück and Arnshaugk, which belonged to what later became the Neustädter Kreis (Neustadt District). Thanks to the thriving economy of the Electorate of Saxony under Moritz and Augustus, the necessary finance for the construction of the castle was available.

The Augustusburg Cable Railway (German: Drahtseilbahn Augustusburg) is a funicular railway in Saxony, Germany. It connects the station of Erdmannsdorf-Augustusburg, in the village of Erdmannsdorf and on the Annaberg-Buchholz–Flöha railway, with the town of Augustusburg on the hill above.The need for a line to connect Augustusburg with its railway station was identified in the 19th century, with the growth of local tourism, but negotiation for granting a franchise took some years. The franchise was finally granted in 1910, and the line was opened in 1911. The line has been overhauled and restored several times, including 1971–73, 1996 and 2005–2006. New cars were provided in 1996. Rauenstein Castle (German: Schloss Rauenstein) is a castle in the village of Rauenstein in the town of Pockau-Lengefeld in the Ore Mountains of Central Europe. The castle guarded the crossing over the River Flöha along the road from Freiberg to Annaberg.
