Stowe School

Stowe House is a grade I listed country house in Stowe, Buckinghamshire, England. It is the home of the private Stowe School and is owned by the Stowe House Preservation Trust. Over the years, it has been restored and maintained as one of the finest country houses in the UK. Stowe House is regularly open to the public. The gardens (known as Stowe Gardens, formerly Stowe Landscape Gardens), are a significant example of the English garden, and, along with the Park, passed into the ownership of the National Trust in 1989. National Trust members have free access to the gardens but there is a charge for all visitors to the house which goes towards costs of restoration. The gardens and most of the parkland are listed Grade I separately from the House. The park and gardens saw 213,721 visitors during 2020/21.

Stowe Gardens, formerly Stowe Landscape Gardens, are extensive, Grade I listed gardens and parkland in Buckinghamshire, England. Largely created in the 18th century, the gardens at Stowe are arguably the most significant example of the English landscape garden. Designed by Charles Bridgeman, William Kent, and Capability Brown, the gardens changed from a baroque park to a natural landscape garden, commissioned by the estate's owners, in particular by Richard Temple, 1st Viscount Cobham, his nephew Richard Grenville-Temple, 2nd Earl Temple, and his nephew George Nugent-Temple-Grenville, 1st Marquess of Buckingham. The gardens are notable for the scale, design, size and the number of monuments set across the landscape, as well as for the fact they have been a tourist attraction for over 300 years. Many of the monuments in the property have their own additional Grade I listing along with the park. These include: the Corinthian Arch, the Temple of Venus, the Palladian Bridge, the Gothic Temple, the Temple of Ancient Virtue, the Temple of British Worthies, the Temple of Concord and Victory, the Queen's Temple, Doric Arch, the Oxford Bridge, amongst others. The gardens passed into the ownership of the National Trust in 1989, whilst Stowe House, the home of Stowe School, is under the care of the Stowe House Preservation Trust. The parkland surrounding the gardens is open 365 days a year.

Dadford is a hamlet in the parish of Stowe, north Buckinghamshire, England.The hamlet is named Anglo Saxon in origin, meaning, Dodda's Ford in modern English. Although, originally in the parish of Biddlesden, the hamlet was annexed to Stowe in 17th century to provide extra living accommodation for the servants of the new manor house. The hamlet still exists today, though it remains quite small in size. It has never had a public house but had a shop and post office until the 1980s. It has retained an iconic red telephone kiosk.

Stowe is a civil parish and former village about two miles (three kilometres) northwest of Buckingham in the unitary authority area of Buckinghamshire, England. The parish includes the hamlets of Boycott, Dadford and Lamport. Stowe House is a Grade I listed country house in the parish and is occupied by Stowe School.

Lamport (occasionally also Langport) was a hamlet in the parish of Stowe in north Buckinghamshire, England. It was cleared by the Temple family, as a result of enclosures, after 1739, to improve the amenity value of their new park at Stowe. The hamlet's name is Old English, meaning long town.

Akeley Wood School is a coeducational private primary and secondary school, with an attached sixth form near Buckingham. It is owned by Cognita, which is an independent schools company.The school accommodates pupils aged 12 months –18 years old albeit not on the same site – stretching efforts across three separate schools; the Junior School, Tile House Mansion and the Senior School – Akeley Wood. They have 1 mascot called Ted the turtle who was made in 2022 and was designed to include diversity. There are approximately 900 pupils across the three sites.

Chackmore is a hamlet in the parish of Radclive-cum-Chackmore, in north Buckinghamshire, England. The hamlet is approached using the avenue that links Buckingham with Stowe Park.

Boycott is a hamlet in the parish of Stowe in north Buckinghamshire, England.Boycott was originally an Anglo Saxon settlement. Its name came from Anglo-Saxon Boiacot = either "Boia's Cottage" or "the cottage of the boys or servants". The Marquis of Buckingham annexed Boycott hamlet to the parish of Stowe in the late 18th century to provide living accommodation for his staff and servants. Until the Counties (Detached Parts) Act 1844 Boycott was part of Oxfordshire.

Radclive Halt was a railway station on the Banbury to Verney Junction Branch Line which served the village of Radclive in Buckinghamshire, England, from 1956 to 1961.

Radclive is a village on the River Great Ouse just over 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Buckingham in Buckinghamshire, England. It is in the civil parish of Radclive-cum-Chackmore in Aylesbury Vale district. The parish includes the hamlet of Chackmore about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of Buckingham. Radclive's toponym is derived from the Old English for "red cliff", referring to the colour of the local soil and a cliff overlooking the river. The Domesday Book of 1086 records the village as Radeclive. Parts of the Church of England parish church of Saint John the Evangelist date from 1200 but the tower is believed to be 100 years later. There are some rare early English pews decorated with poppy heads, and a Jacobean communion rail with openwork balustrading. The nave window contains some examples of 14th century stained glass that survived the English Reformation and the English Civil War. The Manor House was built in about 1620 and is the remaining part of a much larger mansion. The house contains an original oak staircase which has an open balustrade with finial topped ovals and lozenges, very similar in design to the staircase at Princes Risborough Manor House. That portion of Radclive south of the River Ouse once formed the "lost" Domesday manor of Hasley, formerly thought erroneously to have formed part of Thornton.

Silverstone Heliport (ICAO: EGBV) is 5 nautical miles (9.3 km; 5.8 mi) north of Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, England and within the mid-east of the Silverstone Circuit motor racing track, formerly RAF Silverstone. Silverstone Northern Heliport had a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P874) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee (Silverstone Circuits Limited). The aerodrome is not licensed for night use.The site was the world's busiest heliport for one day during the 1999 British Grand Prix, handling 4,000 aircraft movements in one day. The airfield used six air traffic controllers and a continuous message broadcast (ATIS) service.Many flights relate to the annual Grand Prix events but fewer than in 1999 due to improved roads to the venue. The helipads/short strips are within yards of the southern extent of Northamptonshire (considered the East Midlands), which straddles the course.

Luffield Abbey is a place in the very north of Buckinghamshire, England. It is on the border with Northamptonshire, close to Biddlesden and Silverstone.
