Hromadnik is a mountain of Saxony, southeastern Germany.

Czorneboh (German pronunciation: [ˈtʃɔʁnəboː]; Upper Sorbian: Čornobóh, pronounced [ˈtʃɔʁnɔbʊx]) is a mountain between Hochkirch and Cunewalde in Upper Lusatia. Czorneboh is located 10 km. from the German-Czech border north of Šluknov and 8 km. southeast of Bautzen and with an altitude of 555.7 m it is the highest point of this foothill of the Lusatian Highlands. The peak of the Czorneboh is located in the district of Meschwitz (municipality Hochkirch). On the top there is a mountain hostel and an observation tower.

Thromberg (sorbian Lubin) is a mountain of Saxony, southeastern Germany. It is situated six kilometres south-east of Bautzen and part of the Upper Lusatian mountains.

Bautzen II was a 20th-century political prison in the town of Bautzen in Saxony operational during the communist regime in East Germany. It was the only East German prison directly under the control of the Stasi.It now stands as an open-air museum and memorial to its harsh history, entered at no charge.

The Bautzen Reservoir, (German: 'Talsperre Bautzen') is a reservoir on the River Spree in Germany. It is situated just north of the city of Bautzen in the state of Saxony. The dam was built from 1968 to 1975, and has been in operation since 1977. The dam is used to provide domestic water supplies and to regulate water levels in order to conserve water and reduce flood risk. Importantly, it ensures a constant water supply to the Boxberg lignite-fuelled power station down stream on the River Spree and also provides for fishing and other water based leisure activities.

Upper Sorbian Gymnasium in Bautzen (Upper Sorbian: Serbski gymnazij Budyšin, German: Sorbisches Gymnasium Bautzen), is a coeducational gymnasium (e.g. preparatory high school or grammar school) in Saxony, Germany. The school is acting under the slogan "Develop Sorbian identity and cultivate humanistic traditions".

Malschwitz (German) or Malešecy (Upper Sorbian) is a municipality in the east of Saxony, Germany. It belongs to the district of Bautzen and lies 6 km northeast of the eponymous city. The municipality is part of the recognized Sorbian settlement area in Saxony. Upper Sorbian has an official status next to German, all villages bear names in both languages.

Cunewalde (German: [kuːnəˈvaldə]) or Kumwałd (Upper Sorbian) is a municipality in the district of Bautzen in the east of the federal Free State of Saxony in Germany. It lies between the cities of Bautzen and Löbau in a valley between the hills of the Czorneboh, the Hochstein and the Bieleboh, all part of the northernmost mountain ranges of the Lusatian Highlands. It is one of the more populous villages in Upper Lusatia and the longest street village in all of Germany.

Großpostwitz (German) or Budestecy (Upper Sorbian) is a municipality in the east of Saxony, Germany. It belongs to Bautzen district and lies south of the town of Bautzen. The municipality except Eulowitz is part of the recognized Sorbian settlement area in Saxony. Upper Sorbian has an official status next to German, all villages bear names in both languages.

Bautzen/Budyšin (German: Bahnhof Bautzen; Upper Sorbian: Dwórnišćo Budyšin) is a railway station in the town of Bautzen, Saxony, Germany. The station lies on the Görlitz–Dresden railway line and the Bautzen–Bad Schandau railway line, the latter now not running to Bautzen. The station is also on the former Bautzen–Hoyerswerda railway.

The Sorbian Institute (German: Sorbisches Institut; Sorbian: Serbski institut, Upper Sorbian: [ˈsɛʁpskʲi instʲiˈtut] , Lower Sorbian: [ˈsɛrpskʲi instʲiˈtut]) is a research facility focused on Sorbian languages, culture and history. It is an extra-university institute collecting and archiving Sorbian texts and cultural artifacts making them available to the public. Originally founded as Institute for Sorbian Ethnology (Institut für sorbische Volksforschung; Institut za serbski ludospyt) by Pawoł Nowotny in 1951, it was then integrated into the German Academy of Sciences at Berlin in 1952. In 1992, the Sorbian institute was established by a treaty of the two German states Brandenburg and Saxony.

The Battle of Hochkirch took place on 14 October 1758, during the Third Silesian War (part of the Seven Years' War). After several weeks of maneuvering for position, an Austrian army of 80,000 commanded by Lieutenant Field Marshal Leopold Josef Graf Daun surprised the Prussian army of 30,000–36,000 commanded by Frederick the Great. The Austrian army overwhelmed the Prussians and forced a general retreat. The battle took place in and around the village of Hochkirch, 9 kilometers (6 mi) east of Bautzen, Saxony. Historians generally consider the battle as among Frederick's greatest blunders. Contrary to the advice of his subordinates, he refused to believe that the typically cautious Austrian commander Leopold von Daun would bring his troops into battle. The Austrian force ambushed his army in a pre-dawn attack. Over 30% of Frederick's army was defeated; five generals were killed, and he lost his artillery park and a vast quantity of supplies. Although Daun had scored a complete surprise, his attempt to pursue the retreating Prussians was unsuccessful. The escaped force united with another corps in the vicinity and regained momentum over the winter.
