Wairaki Stream is a stream in the suburb of Lynfield in Auckland, New Zealand. One of two named streams that flows into the Manukau Harbour from the Auckland isthmus, the stream is primarily surrounded by reserves, and is a home for native bird and plant species. During suburban development, the mouth of the stream was fed into a culvert, and a stone wall constructed in Lynfield Cove, where a park was developed on the reclaimed land. The beetle species Microscydmus lynfieldi was first discovered at Wairaki Stream.

Auckland International College was an independent coeducational secondary school in Auckland, New Zealand. AIC was established by a Japanese educational for-profit corporation, Oshu Corporation. It adopted the IB Diploma Programme as its sole curriculum plus a preparation year programme for the course (year 11). The school ran with a Northern Hemisphere timetable. AIC also offered a six-month course running from January to June for international students whose English is not at a high enough level to embark on the year 11 preparation year programme. The AIC English course for senior secondary studies covered all curriculum subjects, developing and improving English language skills required for further study in a New Zealand classroom. The Japanese for-profit corporation, Oshu Corporation, that owned the school permanently closed the school in 2023 due to difficulty attracting international students.

Paradice Avondale is an ice sports and public skate centre, opened in May 1981 as an indoor ice rink and entertainment centre. It is located in the New Zealand city of Auckland, in the western-suburbs, at Avondale. It is the current home venue of the West Auckland Admirals in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League (NZIHL) and Auckland Steel in the New Zealand Women's Ice Hockey League (NZWIHL). It is also used as one of two home venues of the Auckland Mako in the NZIHL. The arena is the oldest and largest operational ice sports centre in Auckland.

The New Lynn to Avondale shared path (Māori: Te Ara o New Lynn ki Avondale), also known as the NL2A path, is a shared path in the west of Auckland, New Zealand linking New Lynn and Avondale railway stations. It links with the Waterview shared path, and will link with local cycling networks in New Lynn, as well as the under construction Te Whau shared pathway. Though grade-separated or off-road for most of its length, it does have several road crossings, which have drawn criticism.

St George's Street railway station was a train station in Avondale, Auckland, New Zealand. It was on the Western Line and was adjacent to the St George's Road level crossing. Note the difference in the name of the station versus the road on which it was located. The station was opened in November 1907. It was between New Lynn station and Avondale station. It closed at the same time as the Croydon Road and Westbrook stations, also on the Western Line, on a six-month trial basis on 18 August 1980, with the closure being made permanent on 16 August 1981. No trace of this station or its side platform remains today.

Lynfield is a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. It is under the local governance of Auckland Council. The suburb is located on the southwestern Auckland isthmus bordering the Manukau Harbour, much of which is densely forested with native forest. Lynfield was developed for suburban housing in the late 1950s and 1960s, modelled after American-style suburbs.

The Waterview Tunnel is a twin road tunnel in central Auckland, New Zealand. At 2,400 metres (7,900 ft) long, it is New Zealand's longest road tunnel. The tunnel, with three lanes of road vehicle traffic in each direction, connects State Highway 20 in the south at Mount Roskill to State Highway 16 in the west at Point Chevalier as part of the Waterview Connection. Its opening completed the Western Ring Route motorway system.

The Hollywood Cinema, also known as the Hollywood or the Hollywood Avondale, is a cinema and performing arts theatre in the suburb of Avondale, Auckland, New Zealand. Under different names and management, the business and the building evolved from the council-administrated Avondale Public Hall built in 1867. Following a name change and installation of a new frontage in 1915, the Hall was leased to Harry Empson, who showed movies in the venue from 1916 to August 1927 when he sold the business to Frederick William. In 1923 the original building was moved to the adjacent lot and a new venue constructed behind the frontage. Notwithstanding the challenges of providing talkie movies and competing cinemas in neighbouring suburbs, a succession of managers, including the family of Rudall Hayward, ran the picture theatre until 1966 when the business was acquired by Jan Grefstad, who named it the Hollywood Cinema. During Grefstad's time, the Hollywood was known for the weekly midnight showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and the installation of a Wurlitzer Organ. After Grefstad died in 2001, the business was managed by a family trust before being sold on the open market in 2015. As of 2023 it continues to host classic, cult, revival and marathon screenings as well as selected concerts and events.

Avondale ( AV-ən-dayl) (Māori: Te Whau) is a suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. Located on the central western Auckland isthmus. It is located in the Whau local board area, one of the 21 administrative divisions for the Auckland Council.
