Four Corners is an unincorporated community in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States; located 10 miles northwest of the city of Duluth at the junction of U.S. Highway 53 and Saint Louis County Road 13 (Midway Road). Four Corners is more commonly known in the present day as the Pike Lake business district of Canosia Township. Four Corners is located near the survey point boundary line for Canosia Township, the city of Hermantown, Grand Lake Township, and Solway Township. Esko is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Thomson Township, Carlton County, Minnesota, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 2,082.The community is between Cloquet and Duluth at the junction of Interstate 35 and County Road 1 (Thomson Road). Esko is six miles east of Cloquet and 16 miles southwest of Duluth. Carlton County Road 61 serves as a main route in the community. Most Esko residents are descendants of Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish immigrants who settled the area during the early 20th century. The nearby community of Thomson also has a large Scandinavian presence. Most students in kindergarten through 12th grade attend classes at Winterquist Elementary School and Lincoln High School of Esko. Esko is well known for its successful high school sports teams.

The Arrowhead Refinery Superfund site is a 10-acre former waste oil recycling facility, located in Hermantown, Minnesota, within a white cedar wetland. The refining process generated a waste stream of highly acidic, metal-laden sludge which was disposed of in an unlined two-acre lagoon on the site and waste process water which was discharged into a wastewater ditch in a wetland area. Arrowhead Refining Company incorporated in 1961 and continued the re-refining activities until 1977. A public health risk assessment stated that if no action was taken to remedy the site, use or development of the site would result in unacceptable health effects on user populations. It was also determined that there was a future potential exposure risk for offsite drinking water wells across the road from the site and in the pathway of the contaminated groundwater plume. The record of decision (ROD) was issued in September 1986.

Hermantown is a city in Saint Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 10,221 at the 2020 census. A suburb of Duluth, it was at one point the county's only city to grow in population, as much of the area's residential and commercial expansion occurred there. Hermantown is near the tip of Lake Superior. The eastern part of Hermantown has an appearance typical of a lower-density bedroom community, with large, leafy lots and occasional subdivisions. The car-oriented "Miller Hill area", or Miller Trunk Corridor of Duluth, has sprawled well past the city boundary line into this part of Hermantown. The western part of Hermantown is more rural, reminiscent of the city's past agricultural focus. Hermantown's motto is "The City of Quality Living". Hermantown's mayor is Wayne Boucher, who won a 2008 election against Susie Stockinger. Boucher ran unopposed for a second term in 2012 and received 4,111 votes; there were 79 write-ins.

A portion of Brevator Township is located within the Fond du Lac Indian Reservation.

The Pike Lake business district is located within the township. The town hall and fire hall are located at the corner of Midway Rd. and Martin Rd. (4896 Midway Rd, Duluth MN 55811) Canosia Township is administered by a three-person town board that meets monthly. The town board oversees township road maintenance, the Canosia Volunteer Fire Department, the township cemetery, recreation area and recycling shed.
