Strijen

Keizersdijk is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland and is part of the municipality of Hoeksche Waard. It lies northwest of Strijen. Keizersdijk is not a statistical entity, and considered part of Strijen. It has no place name signs, and consists of about 40 houses.

Cillaarshoek is a hamlet in the western Netherlands. It is located in the municipality of Hoeksche Waard, South Holland, about 15 km south of Rotterdam. Cillaarshoek was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1832, when it became part of the municipality of Maasdam. In 1984, it became a part of the existing municipality of Strijen while the rest of the municipality of Maasdam was merged into the new municipality of BinnenmaasThe Dutch Reformed church is an aisleless with a little wooden tower which was built shortly after its predecessor was demolished in 1838.Cillaarshoek is not a statistical entity, and considered part of Klaaswaal. Maasdam is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located about 14 km south of the city of Rotterdam, in the municipality of Hoeksche Waard, on the rural Hoeksche Waard island. From the 14th Century until around 1800, Maasdam was also the name of the local administrative area, the fief and later the "ambacht". Subsequently, from 1 January 1812 until 1 January 1984, it became the name of the local municipality, which comprised the village of Maasdam and the surrounding polders. In the periods 1812 - 1817 and 1832 - 1984, the hamlet of Cillaarshoek and the hamlet and polder of Sint Anthoniepolder were also part of the municipality of Maasdam.The municipality of Maasdam was eventually merged with some surrounding municipalities to become part of the new municipality of Binnenmaas. The exception was Cillaarshoek which was split and partly merged into the existing municipality of Strijen. On 1 January 2019 Binnenmaas was merged with Cromstrijen, Korendijk, Oud-Beijerland, and Strijen to form the municipality of Hoeksche Waard.

Strijensas is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located about 12 km southwest of the city of Dordrecht, in the municipality of Hoeksche Waard. The village was first mentioned in 1617 as "'t Sas van Stryen", and means "the sluice of Strijen". Strijensas developed after 1650 at the mouth of the harbour canal of Strijen.The first Dutch Reformed church was built in 1879. In February 1945, it was destroyed by war and replaced in 1952.Strijensas was home to 301 people in 1840. Nowadays, it consists of about 180 houses. It was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1855, when it became part of Strijen. In 2019, it became part of the municipality of Hoeksche Waard.

Binnenmaas (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbɪnə(n)maːs] (listen)) was a municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. The municipality had a population of in 2019, and covers an area of 75.57 km2 (29.18 sq mi) of which 6.31 km2 (2.44 sq mi) is water. It is named after the lake of the same name. The municipality was formed on January 1, 1984, by the merger of the municipalities Puttershoek, Maasdam, Mijnsheerenland, Westmaas, and Heinenoord. On January 1, 2007, the municipality 's-Gravendeel was added to Binnenmaas. On January 1, 2019 it was merged with Cromstrijen, Korendijk, Oud-Beijerland, and Strijen to form the municipality of Hoeksche Waard.The municipality of Binnenmaas consists of the following communities: Blaaksedijk, De Wacht, Goidschalxoord, 's-Gravendeel, Greup, Heinenoord, Kuipersveer, Maasdam, Maasdijk, Mijnsheerenland, Puttershoek, Reedijk, Schenkeldijk, Sint Anthoniepolder, Westdijk, Westmaas and Zwanegat.

Sint Anthoniepolder is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is located about 14 km south of the city of Rotterdam, in the municipality of Hoeksche Waard.The Dutch Reformed church dates from the 16th century, but has a tower from before 1358. The Poldersche Molen is a polder mill from 1749. In 1935, a pumping station was installed, but the windmill remained in service until c. 1957. Between 1974 and 1977, it was restored and is regularly in service, because during a storm the windmill can drain more than twice as much water than the pumping station.Sint Anthoniepolder was a separate municipality from 1817 to 1839, when it became part of Maasdam.Sint Anthoniepolder is not a statistical entity, and considered part of Klaaswaal. It has place name signs, however there is a directional sign to Sint Anthoniepolder. The hamlet consists of about 60 houses.

Zwanegat is a hamlet in the Dutch province of South Holland and is part of the municipality Hoeksche Waard. Zwanegat lies between Westmaas and Sint Anthoniepolder. Zwanegat is not a statistical entity, and considered part of Maasdam and Strijen. It has no place name signs, and consists of about 40 houses.

Puttershoek is a village and former municipality in the western Netherlands. It is located on the banks of the Oude Maas, on the island Hoeksche Waard, in the province of South Holland. On 1 January 1984, the municipality of Puttershoek was merged with several others into Binnenmaas. With 6,293 inhabitants (1 January 2005) Puttershoek was the largest settlement in the municipality of Binnenmaas until 's-Gravendeel joined Binnenmaas in 2007. Since 1 January 2019, it is part of the new municipality Hoeksche Waard.

NLM CityHopper Flight 431 refers to a Fokker F-28-4000, registration PH-CHI, that was due to operate an international scheduled Rotterdam–Eindhoven–Hamburg passenger service. On 6 October 1981, the aircraft encountered severe weather on the first leg, minutes after taking off from Rotterdam Airport, and crashed 15 miles (24 km) south-southeast of Rotterdam. All 17 occupants of the aircraft – 13 passengers and 4 crew members– died in the accident.: 183 

Hollands Diep (pre-1947 spelling: Hollandsch Diep) is a river in the Netherlands, and an estuary of the Rhine and Meuse rivers. Through the Scheldt-Rhine Canal it connects to the Scheldt river and Antwerp. The Bergse Maas river and the Nieuwe Merwede river join near Lage Zwaluwe to form the Hollands Diep. The Dordtsche Kil connects to it near Moerdijk. Near Numansdorp it splits into the Haringvliet and the Volkerak.

Waterschap Hollandse Delta (WSHD) is a Dutch regional water authority covering the south of South Holland with its seat in Ridderkerk. The area it encompasses includes Rotterdam (south of the Nieuwe Maas) as well as the (former) islands Goeree-Overflakkee, Hoeksche Waard, Voorne-Putten, the Island of Dordrecht, IJsselmonde, Rozenburg and Tiengemeten. It is responsible for water management, water quality and sewage water treatment and was formed from a merger of 4 regional water authorities in January 2005.
