Foothill College

Foothill Observatory is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by Peninsula Astronomical Society (PAS) and Foothill College. It is located on the college's campus in Los Altos Hills, California (US). The observatory is used by students enrolled in the introductory astronomy lab on campus, which is part of the college's thriving astronomy for non-scientists program, serving over 800 students per year. A 16-inch (410 mm) Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope was donated to the observatory and went into operation in 2007. The PAS opens the observatory for public viewing every clear Friday night from 9 p.m. to about 11 p.m., and for solar viewing every clear Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The Willard Griffin House and Carriage House is a historic mansion and carriage house located in Los Altos, California. The estate, constructed in 1901, features a three-story main house designed in the American Craftsman style. The Willard Griffin House and Carriage House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 13, 1977. Today, the house and carriage house are located at the lower section of the Foothill College campus.

Lantarnam Hall is a historic mansion in Los Altos Hills, California. It was built in 1914-1916 for Percy Morgan, a director of Wells Fargo and trustee of Stanford University. The house was later repurposed as a school.The house was designed by architect John H. Powers in the Tudor Revival style. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since December 19, 1985.

Purisima Creek is a 2-mile-long (3.2 km) eastward-flowing stream originating in Los Altos Hills in Santa Clara County, California, United States. It is a tributary of Adobe Creek which it joins just after entering Los Altos.

Los Altos Hills (US: ; Los Altos, Spanish for "The Heights") is an incorporated town in Santa Clara County, California, United States. The population was 8,489 at the 2020 census. The town is known for its affluence and expensive residential real estate.

Los Altos station is a former railway station in Los Altos, California. The station's establishment marked the beginning of the town as the Mayfield Cutoff was built through the area in 1907. Initially, Southern Pacific steam trains stopped at the two boxcars which made up the station. Additionally, the station was a stop along the interurban Peninsular Railway starting in 1909. A more permanent station building opened in 1913. Peninsular interurban cars ceased running in 1935 and commuter service ended entirely in January 1964. After abandonment, the building was leased out as a restaurant. It was restored by the San Diego Federal Savings and Loan Association in 1973, with a boxcar and a parlor car placed in static installation to flank the building. The Los Altos Historical Commission declared the station as a historical building in 1984. The parlor car had become dilapidated by then and was sold and removed the following year. Despite its historical designation, the building again fell into disrepair and was restored and remodeled in 2014.

The David and Lucile Packard Foundation Headquarters is the corporate headquarters of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, located in Los Altos, California. The Packard Foundationl was created in 1964 by David Packard and his wife Lucile Salter Packard, one of the top 100 grantmaking foundations in the United States, with the goals of improving the lives of children, enabling the creative pursuit of science, advancing reproductive health, and conserving and restoring the Earth’s natural systems. The David and Lucile Packard Foundation Headquarters is designed by EHDD to be the largest net zero energy building in California, and it has successfully reduced the energy use by 65% over conventional buildings. The design of the architecture took advantage of the California climate and environment, and adopted passive and bioclimatic strategies in searching for an integrated net zero energy building design. It was awarded as the top 10 green building in 2014, Net Zero Energy Building by The Living Building Challenge™ 2013, and LEED Platinum 2013. The synergy of the integration design for net zero energy is significant, which includes many aspects, for example, re-development site of brownfield, on-site energy production through photovoltaic, aggressive reduction in plug loads, a triple-element glazing system engineered, fabricated and installed by AGA (Architectural Glass and Aluminum), plus all-electric heating system, chilled beams and radiant panels for cooling, high daylight autonomy, transportation management, and rainwater recycling.

Pinewood School is a private, non-sectarian college preparatory school in the affluent Silicon Valley communities of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, in Santa Clara County, California.

The Los Altos History Museum (LAHM) is a museum in Los Altos, California. Founded in 2001, the museum showcases the history of Los Altos and surrounding areas, including the transformation of the agricultural paradise once known as the "Valley of Heart's Delight" into the high-tech Silicon Valley. The Los Altos History Museum is situated in one of the few remaining apricot orchards in the San Francisco Bay area. The museum features both a permanent exhibit as well as temporary exhibits. The permanent exhibit is called "Crown of the Peninsula" and describes the history of the city of Los Altos, featuring a diorama of Los Altos as it appeared in 1932 with an operational O-scale model train representing the rail line through town that was removed in 1964 and replaced by Foothill Expressway.

Rancho La Purísima Concepción was a 4,439-acre (17.96 km2) Mexican land grant in present day Santa Clara County, California given in 1840 by Governor Juan Alvarado to José Gorgonio and his son José Ramon, Ohlone Indians. The granted extended from Matadero Creek (Rancho Corte de Madera) to Adobe Creek and encompassed present day Los Altos Hills.

Loyola is a census-designated place in Santa Clara County, California, United States. The population was 3,261 at the 2010 census. The woodsy area is located between the cities of Los Altos and Los Altos Hills. It is the home of Facebook's first headquarters. Homes in the area range from cottages to mansions. It is named for Ignatius of Loyola, a Spanish saint and founder of the Jesuits.

Rancho San Antonio was a 7,982-acre (32.30 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Clara County, California given in 1839 by Governor Juan Alvarado to Juan Prado Mesa. The grant was bounded by Adobe Creek to the north and Stevens Creek to the south, and included Permanente Creek, and present-day Los Altos Hills.
