Tytherington, Gloucestershire

Tytherington Rocks F.C. is a football club based in Tytherington, near Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England. The club competes in the Western League Division One and is affiliated to the Gloucestershire County FA. They were formed in 1932 and joined the Bristol and Suburban Association Football League . They continued to fluctuate throughout the leagues until they gained the correct ground grading and won the Premier Division One in 1997–98. They joined the Gloucestershire County League in 1998 and after five seasons won promotion, finishing second in 2003–04. For the 2004–05 season they became members of the Hellenic Football League Division One West, the highest level the club has achieved. They won the Division One West title in the 2011–12 and 2013–14 seasons.

Tytherington railway station served the village of Tytherington in South Gloucestershire. The station was on the Yate to Thornbury branch line that was opened by the Midland Railway in 1872. The station was designed by the Midland Railway company architect John Holloway Sanders.Tytherington was a small station with a single platform on a single track section of the line. There was a single-storey wooden building. The station was closed to passengers with the rest of the line in 1944, but remained open for goods traffic until 1963. In mid 2013, the line beyond Yate Middle Jn was signed 'Out of Use' by Network Rail due to the quarry being mothballed and rail traffic having ceased.. The line has since been reinstated with regular freight workings from Tytherington Quarry to Calvert and Didcot The station building has now been demolished, but the station master's house remains in residential use.

Milbury Heath is a hamlet in South Gloucestershire, England, located east of Thornbury. The hamlet has a garden centre and a few other farm shops. The heath is a local high point (109 m above sea level at grid reference ST666902) and offers views west across the Severn Vale, and north into the Vale of Berkeley. A seat at the viewpoint commemorates the centenary of Falfield Parish Council in 1994. The hamlet has a former (Methodist?) chapel now converted to a private house, and a duck-pond. The hamlet is on the Avon Cycleway. Both the A38 road and M5 motorway pass nearby. Just to the north on the A38, (technically in Buckover), is the White Horse pub.

The quarry is still working, operated by Hanson Aggregates, and is connected by rail on the Thornbury branch line.

Buckover Road Cutting (grid reference ST665906) is a 1.7 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest near the town of Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, notified in 1967. The site shows an unconformity between Silurian rocks and quartz conglomerate of the Devonian period.

The village population taken at the 2011 census was 675.The village lies between Iron Acton and Bagstone, along the B4058 road. It is a long village divided by a road with a well used village hall, pub, hotel, Indian restaurant, recreation ground, primary school and church. A village committee organises village events including the children's Christmas party, Summer Fete and Beer Festival. There are other organisations such as the Court Players, Women's Institute, a Youth Club, Toddlers group and Parish magazine. Several good public footpaths give access to the countryside & there are bridle paths for horse riders & cyclists.Rangeworthy was historically a chapelry in the ancient parish of Thornbury, a detached part of that parish. It became a separate civil parish in 1866. The organist Charles Harford Lloyd served there in his youth.
