Hoghton

Holy Trinity Church is in the village of Hoghton, Lancashire, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Leyland, the archdeaconry of Blackburn, and the diocese of Blackburn. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It is a Commissioners' church, having received a grant towards its construction from the Church Building Commission.

Hoghton railway station was a railway station in Lancashire that served the village of Hoghton. It was situated on the East Lancashire Line between Preston and Blackburn. It was closed in 1960. The Blackburn and Preston Railway (B&PR) was authorised on 6 June 1844. It opened to passengers on 1 June 1846, with Hoghton being among the original stations. Goods traffic commenced on 1 June 1847, by which time the B&PR had amalgamated with the East Lancashire Railway. The station closed on 12 September 1960.

Great Barn is an historic building in the English village of Hoghton, Lancashire. Built in 1692, and constructed using the local sandstone grit, it is now a Grade I listed building. It stands just west of Hoghton Tower. The building is eleven bays long. One end was lofted when it was used as a milking parlour and the walls at the other end were reinforced with railway sleepers for its last agricultural use as a silage clamp.

Hoghton Tower is a fortified manor house two-thirds of a mile (1 km) east of the village of Hoghton, Lancashire, England, and standing on a hilltop site on the highest point in the area. It takes its name from the de Hoghton family, its historical owners since at least the 12th century. The present house dates from about 1560–65. It was damaged during the Civil War and subsequently became derelict, but was rebuilt and extended between 1862 and 1901. The house is listed at Grade I, as is the Great Barn in its grounds, which is dated 1692. Also in the grounds are two structures listed at Grade II. The house and garden are open to the public at advertised times, and are administered by a charitable trust, the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust.

Riley Green is a hamlet, part of the civil parish of Hoghton, within the Borough of Chorley, Lancashire, England. It is located at the junction of the A675 and A6061 roads, between Preston, Blackburn and Chorley. The hamlet consists of a small number of houses and two pubs - the Royal Oak on the A6061, and the Boatyard on the A675 beside the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. Most of the surrounding area is pasture land. There is also a marina at The Boatyard, where many narrowboats are moored, and some are for hire, and there is a cruising restaurant. The original route to Hoghton Tower starts in Riley Green, however it is now only a track as a new route was built straight up to the Tower when motorised transport came to pass. The village is on the Blackburn Bus Company bus route from Burnley to Preston (route 152) and near junction 3 of the M65. Boats were formerly constructed at the Boat Yard in the village which the Boatyard pub is named after. The Boatyard was refurbished by the brewery Thwaites in 2016 and reopened as the Grill and Grain but was destroyed by fire in 2017.

The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Coupe Green or Coup Green is a village in Lancashire, England. It is located on the A675 between Higher Walton and Hoghton. The village is in the borough of South Ribble and the Ribble Valley parliamentary constituency. The village has a primary school which opened in 1975, one pub () and a few shops including a hairdresser and a Texaco petrol station. The village is situated in the Hoghton postal district as Royal Mail does not recognise it as a separate village, this postal district also includes Gregson Lane and Hoghton is often called the village of two halves by residents. Despite this, it is administratively and geographically separate. The village is in the Coupe Green & Gregson Lane ward which elects two councillors, At the May 2011 election, two councillors were elected from the Conservative party Warren Bennett and Jim Marsh.

Gregson Lane is a village in Lancashire, England. It is situated between Bamber Bridge, Higher Walton, Coupe Green and Brindle, and is within four miles of the city of Preston. Most of the village is in an unparished area of South Ribble borough and Ribble Valley parliamentary constituency. However, a small part of the village lies in Brindle civil parish in the Borough of Chorley and Chorley parliamentary constituency. The village is situated in the Hoghton postal district, as the Royal Mail does not recognise it as a separate village; this postal district also includes Coupe Green and Hoghton is often called the village of two halves by residents. Despite this, it is administratively and geographically separate. The village is in the Gregson Lane & Coupe Green ward which elects two councillors. At the May 2011 election, Jim Marsh and Warren Bennett both from the Conservative party were elected.

Brindle is a small village and civil parish of the borough of Chorley, Lancashire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 978. It is in the centre of a triangle between Preston, Blackburn, and Chorley. The area has little industry. Brindle is one of the more affluent areas in Lancashire [1], with average earnings over 33% higher than the national average. Occupations include professionals, teachers, and an increasingly retired population as well as some remaining agricultural employment. Brindle is home to the Anglican St James' Church and a number of trails and bridle paths. As a parish offering excellent links to nearby towns including business centres such as Preston, Bolton, Chorley and Manchester. Brindle could be described as a commuter village although the village still retains a strong sense of local identity.

Samlesbury Hall is a historic house in Samlesbury, Lancashire, England, six miles (10 km) east of Preston. It was built in 1325 by Gilbert de Southworth (b. 1270), and was the primary home of the Southworth family until the early 17th century. Samlesbury Hall may have been built to replace an earlier building destroyed during a raid by the Scots, during The Great Raid of 1322. The hall has been many things in its past including a public house and a girls' boarding school, but since 1925, when it was saved from being demolished for its timber, it has been administered by a registered charitable trust, the Samlesbury Hall Trust. This Grade I listed medieval manor house attracts more than 50,000 visitors each year.Samlesbury Hall is open to the public daily except on Saturdays.
