The name "Huizen" is Dutch for "houses" and this usage has been linked to the belief that the first stone houses, instead of the more common sod houses at the time, in the region appeared here. Huizen is part of the metropolitan area of Amsterdam.

Auberge Postillion de la Provence (popular: La Provence or Auberge La Provence) is a defunct restaurant in Laren, in the Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1974 and retained that rating until 1989.Head chef in the Michelin period was Han de Wijs.The restaurant was founded in the 1960s by Martin Fagel. In 1969, he sold the restaurant to Han de Wijs. In 1989, De Wijs sold the restaurant to Stage Door B.V., who went bankrupt in 1995. In July 1995, shortly after the bankruptcy, the restaurant burnt down.In December 1989 the restaurant was hit by fire the first time. Main victims that time were the administration and the thatched roof.Nowadays, restaurant La Place is located on the site.

Eembrugge is a hamlet and former city on the river Eem, east of Baarn, in the Netherlands. It received city rights between 1336 en 1340, but was destroyed in 1527. Eembrugge is partially in the municipality of Eemnes, partially in Baarn.
