The district comprises nearly the entirety of Uniontown and contains a remarkably cohesive and well-preserved collection of houses, commercial buildings, churches, and schools reflecting the development of this agricultural village from the turn of the 19th century through the 1930s. It is an example of a linear townscape typical of small settlements in rural north-central Maryland during the 19th century.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Weaver–Fox House is a historic home located at Uniontown, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is a simplified Victorian Italianate villa, two stories high with a hip roof. It features two chimneys flanking a rectangular, hipped roof cupola. The house was built during the years 1874 and 1875 as the home of Dr. Jacob J. Weaver, Jr., a country physician.The Weaver–Fox House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Uniontown Academy is a historic school located at Uniontown, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is a one-story building of brick with a stone foundation constructed in 1851 and is said to be a replica of the earlier, 1810 structure. It is three bays wide and three bays long, with a gable roof. The front facade features a "false" front effect with its corbeled or stepped setbacks derived from a traditional Dutch style often seen in the false store fronts of western towns. The property retains many of its outbuildings and is operated as an inn and restaurant. The Uniontown Academy was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The district includes a mixture of railway structures (grain elevator, freight station, site of demolished Western Maryland Railway station), community structures (general stores, post office, church, Sunday School hall/schoolhouse, site of blacksmith shop) and residences with rural dependencies (smokehouses, ice houses, windmills, sub-cellars). They date to the 19th and early-20th century and most structures relate to Linwood's role as a rail depot for the transportation of farm goods and supplies.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

The complex includes the 1832-38 farmhouse, a bank barn, blacksmith shop, washhouse, smokehouse, chicken houses, sheds, and a privy. The brick house features an L-shaped plan, stone foundation, gable roof, ornamentation, and its siting into a slope.Wilson's Inheritance was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Trevanion is a historic home located at Uniontown, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.Trevanion is a 2+1⁄2-story brick dwelling with an asymmetrical central hall plan with a tower. The original 1817 house was converted in 1855 to the "villa style" then popular in America, incorporating a combination of Italianate and Gothic architecture elements. Reflecting this is a brick tower and an adjoining gable end projection. In 1857, a 3+1⁄2-story wing was added. "Trevanion" is a family name and a term meaning "the meeting of streams" in Welsh.Trevanion was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.

The Jacob Koons Farm is a historic farmstead at 1151 Otterdale Mill Road in rural Carroll County, Maryland, near Taneytown. The main farmhouse, a two-story rubble stone construction, was built in 1869. The property also includes several 19th century outbuildings, including a wood frame summer kitchen, a stone smokehouse, and a wooden barn.The farm was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

Hard Lodging is a historic home located at Union Bridge, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is built on a small cliff overlooking the site where its first owner, Solomon Shepherd, had a mill that is no longer standing. The house was built in three stages: the middle section, a 2+1⁄2-story brick structure, was probably built first; the main section of the house is attached to the west and is a Federal-style, three-by-two-bay, 2+1⁄2-story house with an interior gable-end chimney. Hard Lodging is currently a private residence and is no longer owned by the Historical Society. The home is an example of Pennsylvania German architecture. Hard Lodging was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Pipe Creek Friends Meetinghouse is an historic Friends meeting house located at Union Bridge, Carroll County, Maryland, United States. It is a 1+1⁄2-story brick structure in Flemish bond on a stone foundation. The meetinghouse was begun in 1771 and completed the next year. A fire in October 1934 destroyed the interior, but the original benches were saved. The founders of the meetinghouse were immigrants from the north of Ireland. It was the Quaker meetinghouse attended by a great-grandfather of President Herbert Hoover.The Pipe Creek Friends Meetinghouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
