McKellar Park (Canberra)

Belconnen United Football Club (formerly Belconnen Blue Devils) is an Australian semi-professional association football club based in the northern Canberra region of Belconnen, ACT. The women's First Grade team currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Capital Football. The men's First Grade team was relegated after finishing last in the 2022 season under Head Coach Michael Zakoski, Director of NPL Tim Malone and President Joe Carbone. The women's First Grade team continues on in the NPL after making it to the final four in 2022 under Coach Scott Conlon and Director of NPLW Football Hamish Cresswell. Socceroo Tom Rogic played for the club.

McKellar () is a residential suburb in the Belconnen district of Canberra, located within the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. The suburb is named after Colin McKellar who was Minister for Repatriation from 1964 to 1970. The suburb name was gazetted on 15 January 1974. The streets of McKellar are named for journalists with the main street of the suburb called Dumas Street. McKellar is bounded by Ginninderra Drive, William Webb Drive, Owen Dixon Drive, and Gundaroo Drive.

Lawson (postcode: 2617) is a suburb in the Belconnen district of Canberra, located within the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. The suburb is surrounded by Baldwin Drive, Gundaroo Drive and Ginninderra Drive. It lies next to the suburbs of McKellar, Giralang, Kaleen, Bruce and Belconnen. Two intersections were built in 2012 that lead into the suburb's grasslands, prepared for future development on the suburb, one leading off Ginninderra Drive, and another off Baldwin Drive. However, neither intersection continued on further than a few metres. Development was delayed by about two years by Commonwealth environmental clearance processes due to the presence of golden sun moth and native grassland. Construction of roads have commenced and the first residential land was sold on 3 December 2013.The suburb derives its name from Henry Lawson, short story writer and poet. The streets in Lawson are named after aspects of Australia appearing in his writing. A bicycle path runs alongside Ginninderra Drive, another along the shore of the lake. In June 2020, Defence Housing Australia (DHA) announced the proposed master development plan for Lawson North into a vibrant and connected community for Defence families and the local community. Key approvals were sought in late 2021. Following approvals, construction is anticipated to commence in 2023 and dwelling construction to be completed late 2024.

Giralang () is a suburb of the Belconnen district of Canberra, located within the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. The suburb is named after the word in the language of the Wiradhuri Aboriginal tribe of the Central West of New South Wales, meaning star. The suburb name was gazetted on 15 January 1974. Streets in Giralang are named after Aboriginal words for stars, astronomers and constellations seen from the southern hemisphere.In the suburb is the Giralang District Playing fields and adjacent Giralang Primary School. The suburb is bordered by Baldwin Drive, Gundaroo Drive and the Barton Highway.

Evatt () is a suburb in the Belconnen district of Canberra, located within the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. Evatt lies between the suburbs of McKellar, Belconnen, Florey, Melba and Spence. The suburb is named after Herbert Vere Evatt (1894–1965), a Justice of the High Court and Leader of the Opposition in the 1950s. The suburb was gazetted on 2 November 1972. Streets in the suburb are named after people associated with parliament, and law professionals.Evatt has three neighbourhood ovals: Evatt Neighbourhood Oval, adjacent to Evatt Primary School; South West Evatt Oval, and St. Monica's Primary School oval. Evatt is bordered by Copland Drive, Owen Dixon Drive, William Webb Drive and Ginninderra Drive.

Miles Franklin Primary School is a primary school in Evatt, Canberra. The school is named after Australian author Miles Franklin and was opened in 1980; as Franklin's novel My Brilliant Career had received public acclaim in 1979, it seemed suitable for the school to be named in recognition of her. Each year the school celebrates her birthday with a writing competition and an 'old fashion' dress up day. During this day the students are involved in a variety of activities from yesteryear. The school's colours are red, blue and white. They have three houses, all named after Australian authors: Jennings (red) Klein (white) Gibbs (blue)The houses compete in swimming carnivals, athletics carnivals, and to a lesser extent, cross country races.

Kaleen ( kay-LEEN or kə-LEEN) is a suburb in the Belconnen district of Canberra, located within the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. The suburb's name is derived from the word for 'water' in the language of the Wiradjuri Aboriginal tribe of the central west region of New South Wales. Kaleen was gazetted as a suburb on 15 January 1974. The streets are named after Australian rivers.The suburb is next to Lyneham, Giralang, Lawson and Bruce. It is bordered by Baldwin Drive and Ginninderra Drive. It has several ovals; Kaleen North oval, Kaleen Enclosed oval, Kaleen District Playing Fields and Kaleen South oval, which play host to a number of sports, including soccer, cricket, and rugby. Unusually for a suburb, there are two small shopping centres in Kaleen, both bordering the main street of Maribyrnong Avenue. There is also a larger shopping centre near Kaleen's border with Giralang on Georgina Crescent. The 2XX transmitting station is also located in Kaleen, near the Barton Highway. On the east side of the suburb is the Lyneham Ridge eucalypt plantation and a horse holding paddock. Kaleen, like most of Canberra, is located on a network of well-maintained bicycle paths. The main track in Kaleen passes under Ginninderra Drive, and runs through the middle of the suburb in a generally north–south direction, exiting the other side to the neighbouring suburb of Giralang.

Deasland was a historic homestead at Ginninderra (now called Gold Creek) in Canberra’s north on the Barton Highway. It was demolished in early 2022 due to 'Mr Fluffy' asbestos contamination.

The National Dinosaur Museum is Australia's largest permanent display of prehistoric specimens, located in Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. It is located in Gold Creek Village, an area within the suburb of Nicholls. The museum's exhibition follows the evolution of life, with a particular focus on dinosaurs. With an annual patronage of 100,000 visitors, the museum is one of the most popular attractions in the Australian Capital Territory. The gift shop stocks a range of natural history books, dinosaur replicas, toys, fossils, crystals, minerals and meteorites. Established in 1993, the museum has been steadily improved and updated since its conception. It offers earth science dinosaur oriented displays that keep up with most recent discoveries in the geological sciences. in September 2011, Jeno Kapitany, Martin Rowe, Chris Michael and Kate Michael were been appointed including local and international scientist and geologist Tom Kapitany. Major upgrades have taken place in April and May 2012 with the addition of twelve animatronic dinosaurs as well as an extensive collection of life size models displayed both within and outside the museum. The museum caters for guided tours for school groups of all ages by appointment, as well as hosting birthday parties, dance with dinosaurs events for young children, private parties, corporate functions and dinosaur sleep overs during school holiday periods. New displays of Australian dinosaurs, earth sciences including meteorites, fluorescent mineral displays were added over 2012 and 2013.Opening hours are 10am to 5 pm seven days a week including public holidays, but are closed Christmas Day. After hours visits are available by appointment only.

Ginninderra is the name of the former agricultural lands surrendered to urban development on the western and north-western fringes of Canberra, the capital of Australia. Ginninderra corresponds with the watershed of Ginninderra Creek, which is now in part occupied by the Canberra districts of Belconnen and Gungahlin. The word 'Ginninderra' is one of several - Molonglo, Gold Creek and Monaro are others - that hold longstanding connections to Canberra's local history. The Ginninderra Cricket Club, Ginninderra District High School and Ginninderra Labor Club are examples. One of the local ACT electorates is called Ginninderra. The name is celebrated through the place name Ginninderra Drive, an arterial road that traverses the Canberra district of Belconnen.

Cockington Green Gardens is a park of miniatures, situated in Nicholls, Australian Capital Territory. Doug and Brenda Sarah had the idea to create a miniature village in 1972, and Cockington Green was opened on 3 November 1979.The business is family owned and operated, incorporating over four generations.

87.8 UCFM (ACMA callsign: 1A12) is an independent student radio station transmitting from the campus of the University of Canberra. It broadcasts a professionally consulted College Radio niche music format – 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with a mix of news and current affairs. The radio station's studios are located within the lower level of "The Hub" complex on the university's Bruce campus, in Australia's capital city – Canberra. UCFM transmits on FM 87.8 MHz across the District of Belconnen and North Canberra. It also streams its on-air program continuously online through links located on its website, Facebook page and TuneIn. Launched in 1994 as CUE FM by the University of Canberra Union (UCU) – the original broadcast licence holder – all controlling interests (including the licence) have since been passed to the current UCFM Board. As an autonomous, non-academic student service, UCFM is therefore not listed as a university club or society. It receives no funding from either the UCU, nor the University of Canberra and covers operating costs by broadcasting a minimal amount of non-intrusive advertising, permitted under its licence conditions, as well as sponsorship, donations and membership fees. 87.8 UCFM positions itself on-air as "Canberra's Alternative" taking pride in its point of difference programming to its 18 to 40-year-old listeners with a non-stop, blend of Top 40 Pop/ Indie / Alternative music. The station is a registered non-profit association overseen by its board, management team and a dedicated group of student and alumni volunteer members. Past and present UC students may become members of UCFM and can then be involved in all areas of the radio station, including as on-air presenters of its music format. One of its main purposes on campus is as a learning tool for students to assists members to make the important step from study into a professional media career post graduation. In recent years UCFM volunteers, many with considerable radio industry experience have totally rebuilt the station's studios, transmitting equipment and on-air content extending its popularity to include many Canberra listeners outside the university, and online. External listeners, not associated with the university also have the ability to become UCFM 'Supporter' members. On 10 August 2014, UCFM celebrated its 20th year of broadcasting.
