Spikkestad is a village in the municipality of Asker, in the province of Akershus, Norway. Its current population (2022) is between 4000 and 5000.Spikkestad is located in the northern part of the peninsula of Hurumlandet, closer to the Drammensfjord than the Oslo Fjord. Spikkestad railway station was opened in 1885 to link Asker to Drammen. The village was named after the farm "Spikkestad", as the station was built on its lands. In the early 1970s, the Lieråsen tunnel was built 3 km to the North-West of the village, which made the trip between Oslo and Drammen much shorter. The segment of the train track between Spikkestad and Drammen was closed after the tunnel opened. Spikkestad thus became the terminus of Spikkestadbanen. However, there are still trains running between Asker and Spikkestad, every half-hour. Spikkestad is also well connected by road. The Norwegian National Road 23 (now European highway E134) runs through the outskirts of the village and the road provides links to Drammen and Drøbak. Drammen is the closest large city, only 11 km away from Spikkestad. During the industrialization of the town at the end of the 19th century, factories and schools, as well as an influx of new inhabitants made the village into more than just a train station. The manufacturing company Elopak was founded in Spikkestad in 1957.Spikkestad and the area surrounding it have a long history dating back to the viking era. Once a year, the community organizes an historic walk (Oldtidsveien), which travels along sites such as a historic burial site. It runs from Gullaug on the Drammen Fjord to Slemmestad on the Oslo Fjord.

Spikkestad Station (Norwegian: Spikkestad stasjon) is a railway station located at Spikkestad in Røyken, Norway, and is the terminus of the Spikkestad Line. It was opened as part of the Drammen Line on 3 February 1885, but in 1973 the new Lieråsen Tunnel opened through Lieråsen, and the old part of the Drammen Line became a commuter train line with Spikkestad, which is today primarily a residential town, as its western terminus. The station is served by a half-hourly service of commuter trains running to Asker, Sandvika, and Oslo Central Station (journey time: 52 minutes) and then on to Lillestrøm. The old station building, which was originally built to serve Høvik and was moved from there in 1922, today stands a hundred metres or so distant from the end of the line, following redevelopment of the station area in 2012-16 and the construction of new platforms.

Lahell is a village in the municipality of Lier in Buskerud, Norway.Located in the south of the municipality of Lier, southwest of Spikkestad in Røyken, it is neighbouring to the urban area Drammen which bordering to Lier. Norwegian National Road 23 (Rv23) carries heavy volume of transport and commuter traffic through the neighborhood connecting it with the municipalities of Lier, Røyken, Hurum and Frogn.Large parts of the population settled in Lahelle in connection with explosives producer Dyno Industrier ASA (now Dyno Nobel). Production of explosives has now moved and community planning proposes building a new and modern hospital on part of the former site. Lahelle is today primarily a residential area. The part of the Drammen urban area that stretches into Lier has a population of 4,788.

Hyggen is a small village in Røyken in Asker municipality, Akershus county, Norway.

Åsåker Station (Norwegian: Åsåker holdeplass) was a railway station on the Spikkestad Linelocated at Åsåker in Asker, Norway. The station was opened as part of Drammenbanen on 22 December 1959, but in 1973 the new Lieråsen Tunnel opened through Lieråsen, and the old part of Drammen Line was transformed to a commuter train line. The station was served by the Oslo Commuter Rail service to Oslo S and onward to Moss. Åsåker is primarily a residential area. The station was closed in 2012 due to low traffic.

Drammensfjord (English: Drammen Fjord) is a fjord in Norway that connects to Ytre Oslofjord on the west side. It stretches to the north and northeast. The Drammenselva river discharges into the head of the fjord. The municipality and city of Drammen which is named after the fjord is also found there. The majority of the fjord is within the county of Buskerud, but in the west and southwest it lies in Vestfold county. The land on the east side of the fjord is called Hurumhalvøya or the Hurum peninsula; it separates the Drammensfjord from the Oslofjord. The fjord narrows to a strait at Svelvik in Vestfold on the west side and Verket in Hurum on the east side. The strait is crossed by an automobile ferry. This narrowing, some 200 meters broad and 10 meters deep, combined with the large freshwater inflow from the Drammenselva (one of Norway's largest rivers) and from Lierelva (river), results in the water north of the strait being brackish water. On the surface the water is fairly fresh, resulting in bathing areas that are free of jelly fish, while deeper the water has a higher salt concentration, with saltwater fish such as cod, pollock, flounder, and mackerel. The tide sets up one of Norway's strongest currents through the strait (outflow can reach speeds of 5 knots and the strait is known Selvikstrømmen (the Svelvik current) in Norwegian. Large ships can only sail in daylight and the largest only when assisted by tugboats. The strait has been made wider and deeper to accommodate traffic. Dead coral reefs are also found at 10–20 meters deep in the fjord. The maximum depth of the fjord northwards of the strait is 117 meters. For a number of decades the Drammensfjord was polluted. The sewage and industrial discharges by industries in Drammen have been corrected so that the water is now much cleaner. Salmon and sea trout are again found in both the fjord and the Drammenselva. In old Norse times the Drammensfjord was known by the name Dramn or Drofn, meaning hazy waters. In the Norse sagas Snorre Sturlason tells that Saint Olav hid himself from Canute the Great at a fjord which was called Dramn. At that time the water stood 4-5 meters higher and the fjord reached up to Hokksund. During the Viking Age, Drammensfjorden north of the Svelvik Strait was regarded as a lake and the Svelvik Strait was regarded as the mouth of the Drammen River.

Oslo Air Traffic Control Center or Oslo ATCC (Norwegian: Oslo Kontrollsentral) is responsible for the controlled airspace above Eastern Norway. The area control center is located in Røyken, between Oslo and Drammen. The Control Center is owned and operated by Avinor Flysikring, a subsidiary of the state enterprise Avinor. Avinor's board had originally decided to close Oslo ATCC in 2008, transferring its responsibilities to Stavanger ATCC and a planned new terminal control center at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. However, new management first postponed the actual closing, by redefining Oslo ATCC as an approach control with surrounding feeder sectors. In 2013 Avinor decided to create Norway ACC, consisting of the centres in Bodø, Stavanger and Røyken, billed as one ATC unit with three separate locations. Oslo ATCC is served by, amongst others, Haukåsen radar, Vardåsen radar, the airport radar at Oslo Airport, Gardermoen, the new Torp radar and Evje radar. Several other radar feeds are available from radars along the west coast of Norway, and central Norway. The operation consists of one regular office building above ground. The control center itself where the air traffic controllers work is located in a large subterranean mountain hall built to cold war specifications. The hall has several work stations that each can control one or more air traffic control sectors.

Gullaug is an unincorporated village at Lier municipality in Buskerud, Norway. Gullaug is located between Lierbyen, Røyken and Drammen. Geographically, Gullaug is an area that encompasses little more than a small commercial area and local shops, but locals apply the label to the entire area stretching from Lierkroa in the north, Lahell in the south, Amtmandsvingen in the east and Spikkestad in the west. This is the area that is served by the Gullaug school.Gullaug Church (Gullaug kirke) in Frogner parish dates from 1905 and was constructed of wood. It has seating for 100 people. Gullaug holdeplass was a railroad stop on the Drammen Line. It opened in 1956 and closed in 1973 when Lieråsen Tunnel opened and the rail line was shortened. The old railway line in the area have been converted into cycle path and located in a popular hiking area.Most of the buildings at Gullaug were built in connection with the former Norwegian industrial group, Norsk Sprængstofindustris which was founded in 1917. Norsk Sprængstofindustris was an amalgamation of several companies, operated locally as Gullaug Factories, which concentrated on the production of civilian and military explosives. In 1971, Norsk Sprængstofindustri and Grubernes Sprængstoffabriker were merged into Dyno Industrier ASA (now Dyno Nobel), a large industrial explosives manufacturers with interests in plastic and chemical production.

Lier Station (Norwegian: Lier holdeplass) is located at the village of Lier, Norway on the railway Drammen Line. The station is served by the Oslo Commuter Rail L13, service with half-hour headway by Vy. The station is served by line L1, with one departure at 01:54 to Drammen.

Reistad is a small village in Lier municipality in Buskerud, Norway. Its population in 1999 was 554, and since 2001 has considered a part of the urban area of Lierbyen.
