Southgate, Michigan

Downriver is the unofficial name for a collection of 18 cities and townships in Wayne County, Michigan, south of Detroit, along the western shore of the Detroit River.

Southgate Shopping Center is a shopping center located at the southeast corner of Eureka and Trenton Roads in Southgate, Michigan. Completed by 1958, it was one of the first major strip malls in the southern Detroit suburbs until the nearby Southland Center opened in 1970. At its peak, the center housed over thirty stores.

Old Homestead is a neighborhood on the east side of the Metro Detroit suburb of Southgate, Michigan. Usually, Old Homestead is bordered by Superior Street to the north, Eureka Road to the south, M-85 (Fort Street) to the east and either Trenton Road or Burns Street to the west. Commercial districts are located along Eureka Road and Fort Street and the rest of the neighborhood is mostly single-family homes, most of which were built during the 1940s and 1950s. The most common housing styles within Old Homestead consist of one-story ranch homes, one-and-a-half-story Cape Cods and two-story colonial revivals.

Aquinas High School was a grades 9-12 parochial high school located in the Detroit suburb of Southgate.

Southgate Tower is a high-rise office building at 16333 Trenton Road in Southgate, Michigan. Since its completion, it has been the tallest building in the Downriver area of Wayne County, Michigan, as well as the tallest building between Detroit and Toledo, Ohio. A large portion of office space in the building was occupied by PNC Financial Services. Until October 18, 2013, a PNC Bank branch also operated in the building. It was initially constructed in 1972 and completed in 1973 by Lincoln Park-based Security Bank to house their headquarters. Since its completion, Southgate Tower's bank tenant has changed, first in 1993 to First of America Bank, then in 1997 to National City Bank and finally to PNC in early 2010. in Late 2021, reports of its conversion into Apartments if a zoning change was approved came to light, and eventually construction began in Mid-2023, with planned completion being mid-2025. The office building is easily accessible from M-85 (Fort Street), as a driveway connects that road to the building's parking lot. Southgate Tower is easily visible from many locations in Southgate and adjacent communities.

Southgate Thomas J. Anderson High School is a public high school in Southgate, Michigan, United States. A part of the Southgate Community School District, it serves Southgate and a section of Allen Park.

Gabriel Richard Catholic High School, usually referred to as Gabriel Richard or simply GR, is a Catholic, coed high school in Riverview, Michigan, United States, south of Detroit. Named after Father Gabriel Richard, the school was established in 1965, with the first class graduating in 1969. It currently has approximately 300 students and approximately 25 full-time teachers, giving a student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 12:1. Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit, Gabriel Richard Catholic High School has also been fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools since the 1993–94 school year.

WLQV (1500 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Detroit, Michigan. It is owned by the Salem Media Group and broadcasts a Christian talk and teaching radio format. It uses paid brokered programming where hosts buy time on the station and may seek donations to their ministries during their programs. Religious leaders heard on WLQV include David Jeremiah, John MacArthur, Alistair Begg, Jim Daly, Tony Evans and Charles Stanley. The studios are on Radio Plaza in Ferndale, Michigan. By day, WLQV transmits with 50,000 watts, the maximum for American AM stations; to protect other stations from interference at night, WLQV reduces power to 10,000 watts. It uses a directional antenna with a nine-tower array. The transmitter is on Hazel Avenue near Dix Highway and Interstate 75 in Lincoln Park, Michigan. Programming is also heard on 99-watt FM translator W224CC at 92.7 MHz in Detroit.

Mallie's Sports Grill & Bar is a restaurant, sports grill, and bar located in Southgate, Michigan. It was established in 2005. It is best known for setting the world record of the biggest hamburger commercially available.

Riverview is a city in Wayne County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 12,486 at the 2010 census.Riverview is a suburb of Metro Detroit about 6 miles (9.7 km) south of the southern border of Detroit along the Detroit River. Riverview was incorporated as a village within Monguagon Township in 1923 and later incorporated as a city in 1959.

Our Lady of the Scapular Parish (Polish: Parafia Matki Bożej Szkaplerznej) is a Roman Catholic personal parish that specifically ministers to Polish immigrants and those of Polish descent. Our Lady of the Scapular Parish was established on August 1, 2013, as a result from a merger of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish (1899–2013) and St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish (1914–2013). The activities of the parish are located at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wyandotte, Michigan, Wayne County, United States.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School, (Polish: Matki Bożej Szkaplerznej Wyższej Szkoły) was a private, Roman Catholic high school in Wyandotte, Michigan to the parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It was closed in June, 2011 by the Archdiocese of Detroit.
