Oste (German pronunciation: [ˈoːstə, ˈɔstə]) is a river in northern Lower Saxony, Germany with a length of 156 km (97 mi). It is a left tributary of the Elbe. The Oste flows through the districts of Harburg, Rotenburg, Stade and Cuxhaven and empties into the Elbe river near Otterndorf. Its drainage area is 1.715 km2 (0.662 sq mi) and the decline between the source and the estuary is 31 m (102 ft). Tributaries are Ramme, Aue, Twiste, Bade, Bever and Mehe. The Oste is part of the Deutsche Fährstraße, an institution similar to the American National Scenic Byways. It connects various places between Bremervörde and Kiel with relation to the history of ferries and crossing of rivers, like the historic transporter bridges in Rendsburg and Osten. Also at the Oste there are two pram ferries in Gräpel and Brobergen. The ferry in Gräpel is actually manually operated. Although recognized as an official waterway the Oste does not have much shipping traffic. The river has its source near Tostedt at the border of the Lüneburg Heath, flowing to the west passing Sittensen and Zeven, changing direction to north and passing Bremervörde, where influence of the tides is starting, Hemmoor and Neuhaus.

Neuhaus an der Oste (in High German, in Low Saxon: Neehuus) is a municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Cadenberge (in High German, in Low Saxon: Cumbarg) is a municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 November 2016, the former municipality Geversdorf is part of the municipality Cadenberge. Cadenberge belonged to the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen, established in 1180. In 1648 the Prince-Archbishopric was transformed into the Duchy of Bremen, which was first ruled in personal union by the Swedish Crown - interrupted by a Danish occupation (1712-1715) - and from 1715 on by the Hanoverian Crown. The Kingdom of Hanover incorporated the Duchy in a real union and the Ducal territory became part of the new Stade Region, established in 1823.

Am Dobrock is a former Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated near the confluence of the rivers Oste and Elbe, approx. 25 km east of Cuxhaven, and 15 km south of Brunsbüttel. Its seat is in the village Cadenberge. On 1 November 2016 it was merged into the Samtgemeinde Land Hadeln. The Samtgemeinde Am Dobrock consisted of the following municipalities: Belum Bülkau Cadenberge Geversdorf Neuhaus (Oste) Oberndorf Wingst

Geversdorf is a village and a former municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Since 1 November 2016, it is part of the municipality Cadenberge. Geversdorf belonged to the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen, established in 1180. It was situated in the Land of Hadeln near the mouth of the river Elbe, approximately 15 km east of Cuxhaven. Its seat was in the town Otterndorf. On 1 January 2011 it merged with the Samtgemeinde Sietland to form the new Samtgemeinde Land Hadeln. Otterndorf (German: [ˈɔtɐndɔʁf] ; Northern Low Saxon: Oterndörp) is a town on the coast of the North Sea in the federal state of Lower Saxony, Germany, and is part of the collective municipality (Samtgemeinde) of Land Hadeln. The town, located in the administrative district (Landkreis) of Cuxhaven, is at the mouth of the river Medem, part of the Elbe delta. The old town centre (Altstadt) features a number of half-timbered houses.

It was formed on 1 January 2011 by the merger of the former Samtgemeinden Hadeln and Sietland. On 1 November 2016 the Samtgemeinde Am Dobrock was merged into Land Hadeln.
