Snelston

Roston is a hamlet in Derbyshire, England. It is located north of Rocester. The Roston Inn (known locally as 'The Shant') is at the junction of Mill Lane and Lid Lane in the hamlet. Roston is in the parish of Norbury with Roston. Roston Common is a short distance east from Roston. George Eliot's father, Robert Evans was born here and sang in the choir at Norbury church.

St John the Baptist's Church is an Anglican church in the village of Mayfield, Staffordshire, England. It is a Grade I listed building. The core is a Norman church; it was extended in the early 14th century, and the tower built in 1515.

Anacrehill is an area of Snelston parish, to the south of the village. The area contains a small number of cottages and farmhouses located on Virginsalley Lane.

The Henmore Brook or the River Henmore is a tributary of the River Dove in Derbyshire, England, and is 20 km (12 miles) in length.In its upper reaches it is known as the Scow brook, much of which was inundated by the Carsington Water reservoir in 1991. It becomes the Henmore brook in the middle reaches, where there are three tributaries called the Parkside, Kniveton and Dayfield brooks.The brook drains a catchment of mixed geology, which has an area of 46 square kilometres (18 square miles). It flows through the market town of Ashbourne, where flooding of the town centre by the brook has historically caused significant damage. The brook is designated as a Main river by the Environment Agency from the outflow at Carsington Water to the confluence with the River Dove.

Mayfield is a village on the outskirts of Ashbourne in Derbyshire, about 9 miles from Uttoxeter, situated in East Staffordshire. The village is divided into Mayfield, Church Mayfield, Lower Mayfield, Upper Mayfield and Middle Mayfield. It has a population of approximately 2000. It lies on the banks of the River Dove. The Dove is the boundary between Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Mayfield is on the Staffordshire side of the border but it has an Ashbourne postal address because its nearest postal town, Ashbourne, is in Derbyshire. Derbyshire is not used by Royal Mail.

Clifton (Mayfield) railway station was opened on 3 May 1852 by the North Staffordshire Railway at Clifton on the southern fringes of Ashbourne, Derbyshire. Originally named Clifton, it was renamed Clifton (Mayfield) on 22 August 1893, and was known as Clifton for Mayfield in some timetables. It was on a branch from Rocester to Ashbourne and in 1899 it was met by the Ashbourne Line built by the London and North Western Railway from Buxton. Regular passenger services ceased on 1 November 1954 and freight ended in 1964

Clifton and Compton is a civil parish within the Derbyshire Dales district, in the county of Derbyshire, England. The parish, despite the name, only includes the villages of Clifton and Hangingbridge. In 2011 the parish had a population of 500. It is 124 miles (200 km) north west of London, 13 miles (21 km) north west of the county city of Derby, and 1+1⁄3 miles (2+1⁄4 km) south west of the market town of Ashbourne. Clifton and Compton touches the parishes of Ashbourne, Edlaston and Wyaston, Mayfield, Offcote and Underwood, Osmaston, Okeover and Snelston. There are eight listed buildings in Clifton and Compton.

Darley Moor Airfield and Road Race Circuit is situated on a high plateau adjacent to the A515, two miles south of Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England. The airfield is operated by Airways Airsports providing training in almost every type of leisure flying. The Second World War runway was transformed into Darley Moor Racetrack holding regular events since 1965 for motorbike and more recently cycle racing.

Calwich Abbey, previously Calwich Priory, was in turn the name of a medieval Augustinian priory and two successive country houses built on the same site near Ellastone, Staffordshire.
