The New York Transit Museum (also called the NYC Transit Museum) is a museum that displays historical artifacts of the New York City Subway, bus, and commuter rail systems in the greater New York City metropolitan region. The main museum is located in the decommissioned Court Street subway station in Downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. There is a smaller satellite Museum Annex in Grand Central Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. The museum is a self-supporting division of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The Friends Meetinghouse and School is an historic Quaker meeting house and adjacent school building at the corner of Schermerhorn Street and Boerum Place in the Boerum Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. The meeting house, at 110 Schermerhorn Street, was built in 1857 and is a 3+1⁄2-story building built of red brick with brownstone details. Its design is attributed to Charles T. Bunting.The school, located at 112 Schermerhorn Street, was built in 1902 and is a three-story red brick building located adjacent to the meeting house, at 112 Schermerhorn Street. It was designed by William Tubby, a prominent Brooklyn architect, to house the Brooklyn Friends School. Tubby was himself a Quaker and an early graduate of the school.The meeting house remains in regular use as a house of worship by the Brooklyn Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends. The Brooklyn Friends School moved to another site nearby in 1973. As of 2015, the school building houses Brooklyn Frontiers High School, an alternative school operated by the New York City Department of Education. The meeting house was designated a New York City landmark in 1981, and the meeting house and school together were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Brooklyn Law School (BLS) is a private law school in New York City. Founded in 1901, it has approximately 1,100 students. Brooklyn Law School's faculty includes 60 full-time faculty, 15 emeriti faculty, and a number of adjunct faculty.Brooklyn Law School alumni include, including New York City Mayor David Dinkins, US Senator Norm Coleman, judges Frank Altimari (US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit) and Edward R. Korman (US District Court for the Eastern District of New York), attorneys Stephen Dannhauser (Chairman, Weil, Gotshal & Manges), Myron Trepper (co-Chairman, Willkie Farr & Gallagher), Allen Grubman (entertainment lawyer), and Bruce Cutler (criminal defense lawyer), CEOs Barry Salzberg (Deloitte) and Marty Bandier (Sony/ATV Music Publishing), and billionaire real estate developers Leon Charney and Larry Silverstein.

The Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Municipal Building (previously the Brooklyn Municipal Building) was built in 1924. Designed by McKenzie, Voorhees & Gmelin, the construction cost $5,800,000. It is located at 210 Joralemon Street. It contains a branch of the New York City Clerk's office (including a detail of the New York City Marriage Bureau) and branch offices for the Departments of Buildings, Probation, Finance, and Environmental Protection. In July 2012, the Landmark Preservation Commission approved an upgrade to the first few stories and add much commercial signage. In 2016, renovation was done on two cellar levels and two floors.

The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Sts. Constantine and Helen, more simply Sts. Constantine and Helen Cathedral (though known by Greek Orthodox parishioners from other churches as NAK) is a Greek Orthodox cathedral church at 64 Schermerhorn Street in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. It is best known for taking in parishioners from St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Manhattan, destroyed during the September 11 attacks. Founded in 1913, it was the first Greek Orthodox parish on Long Island, and is one of the oldest Greek Orthodox churches in the City of New York. After meeting for several years in a small building at Johnson and Lawrence streets, the community raised funds to build a new structure, whose cornerstone was laid April 16, 1916. Fire damaged the building in 1991, but repairs have been made and the building restored. The Church also is affiliated with A. Fantis Parochial School, which was established in 1963, 50 years after the church, and which is located right behind the church. The Church is half a block west of the New York Transit Museum. The church was expanded in 1946 and again in 1960. It was designated Brooklyn's cathedral in June 1966.

Brooklyn Frontiers High School is an alternative high school operated by the New York City Board of Education which opened in 2011. It is located in Brooklyn, New York at 112 Schermerhorn Street, a 1902 building that was designed by William Tubby to house the Brooklyn Friends School and that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Pacific High School was housed in the same building from sometime prior to 1992 until its closing in 2012.Brooklyn Frontiers High school is an NYC DOE transfer school that serves both students entering high school from middle school two years overage as well as students who have already attended high school at another location and want a new start. The school is run in partnership with Good Shepherd Services.

The Brooklyn Academy of Fine Arts was a small, short-lived art academy located at 85 Court Street in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The sole instructor at the academy was Michael Falanga. The school closed in 1945.

Boerum Place was a station on the demolished BMT Fulton Street Line. The Fulton Street Elevated was built by the Kings County Elevated Railway Company and this station started service on April 24, 1888. The station had 2 tracks and 1 island platform. It was served by trains of the BMT Fulton Street Line, and until 1920, trains of the BMT Brighton Line. This station was served by steam locomotives between 1888 and 1899. In 1898, the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company (BRT) absorbed the Kings County Elevated Railway, and it took over the Fulton Street El, and it was electrified on July 3, 1899. It closed on June 1, 1940, when all service from Fulton Ferry and Park Row to Rockaway Avenue was abandoned, as it came under city ownership.

The Brooklyn Book Festival is an annual book fair held in the fall in Brooklyn, New York. It was begun in 2006 by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, co-producers Liz Koch and Carolyn Greer who wanted to showcase the "Brooklyn voice" in literature, as numerous authors reside in the borough. In subsequent years the fair has expanded its scope and hosted many non-Brooklyn and international writers, including Joan Didion, Dennis Lehane, John Reed, Rosanne Cash, Salman Rushdie, Karl Ove Knausgård and Dave Eggers.In 2009, attendance reached 30,000. Also in 2009, St. Francis College established a biannual Literary Prize worth US$50,000 to support a mid-career writer. The winner of the prize is announced by a panel of authors during the Brooklyn Book Festival every other year in September. The festival includes themed readings, panel discussions, vendors, and author signings. In recent years, the Book Festival has expanded to include a Children's Day and Bookends, literary-themed events like book readings, parties, stand-up shows and performances in various public venues in Brooklyn.

The Park Theatre was a playhouse in Brooklyn, New York City, located on 381–383 Fulton Street. Built in 1860 and opened in 1863, the Park Theatre was the oldest playhouse in Brooklyn until it was destroyed by fire on November 12, 1908.

Brooklyn Borough Hall is a building in Downtown Brooklyn, New York City. It was designed by architects Calvin Pollard and Gamaliel King in the Greek Revival style, and constructed of Tuckahoe marble under the supervision of superintendent Stephen Haynes. It was completed in 1848 to be used as the City Hall of the former City of Brooklyn. In January 1898 the independent City of Brooklyn merged with the City of New York, and Kings County became the Borough of Brooklyn, at which time the building became Brooklyn Borough Hall.

Brooklyn () is a borough of New York City, coextensive with Kings County, in the U.S. state of New York. Kings County is the most populous county in New York State, as well as the second-most densely populated county in the United States. It is also New York City's most populous borough, with 2,736,074 residents in 2020. If each borough were ranked as a city, Brooklyn would rank as the third-most populous in the U.S., after Los Angeles and Chicago. Named after the Dutch village of Breukelen, it is located on the western end of Long Island and shares a land border with the borough of Queens. Brooklyn has several bridge and tunnel connections to the borough of Manhattan across the East River and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge connects it with Staten Island. With a land area of 70.82 square miles (183.4 km2) and a water area of 26 square miles (67 km2), Kings County is New York state's fourth-smallest county by land area and third-smallest by total area. Brooklyn was an independent incorporated city (and previously an authorized village and town within the provisions of the New York State Constitution) until January 1, 1898, when, after a long political campaign and public relations battle during the 1890s, according to the new Municipal Charter of "Greater New York", Brooklyn was consolidated with other cities, towns, and counties, to form the modern City of New York, surrounding the Upper New York Bay with five constituent boroughs. The borough continues, however, to maintain a distinct culture. Many Brooklyn neighborhoods are ethnic enclaves. Brooklyn's official motto, displayed on the Borough seal and flag, is Eendraght Maeckt Maght, which translates from early modern Dutch as "Unity makes strength." In the first decades of the 21st century, Brooklyn has experienced a renaissance as a destination for hipsters, with concomitant gentrification, dramatic house price increases, and a decrease in housing affordability. Some new developments are required to include affordable housing units. Since the 2010s, Brooklyn has evolved into a thriving hub of entrepreneurship, high technology start-up firms, postmodern art and design.
