Lake Angelus, Michigan

Lake Angelus is a private, all-sports, 477 acres (193 ha) lake in Oakland County, in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community of Lake Angelus is at the lake.Lake Angelus is primarily located in Auburn Hills, except for a portion of the western portion of the lake which lies in Waterford Township.Lake Angelus is the ninth-largest lake in Oakland County and the eighth-deepest lake in Oakland County.

The McMath-Hulbert Solar Observatory is a solar observatory in Lake Angelus, Michigan, USA. It was established in 1929 as a private observatory by father and son Francis Charles McMath and Robert Raynolds McMath and their friend, Judge Henry Hulbert. In 1932 the observatory was deeded to the University of Michigan which operated it until 1981, at which time it was sold into private ownership again.In 1932 a 10.5-inch (270 mm) reflector telescope was added to the observatory as well as a spectroheliokinematograph {spectro-helio-kine-mato-graph}. This instrument was designed to take motion pictures of the Sun. The McMath-Hulbert Solar Observatory is primarily known for the motion pictures that the McMaths made of various celestial phenomena, including the first movies of solar prominences in motion. Later work involved solar spectroscopy in the near infrared and participation in a solar flare patrol program in the 1950s. Robert McMath and one of the resident astronomers, Keith Pierce, established the McMath–Pierce solar telescope at Kitt Peak Observatory near Tucson, Arizona in 1962. The McMath-Hulbert Solar Observatory is currently under private ownership but is run by a small non-for-profit organization of amateur astronomers.

Wormer Lake is located in Waterford Township, Michigan. The 27.2-acre (11.0 ha) lake lies north of Walton Blvd. near Clintonville Rd. At its deepest point, the lake is 24 feet (7.3 m) deep.Wormer Lake connects to Mohawk Lake and to Schoolhouse Lake.

Silver Lake is a freshwater lake located in Waterford Township, Michigan in Oakland County, Michigan, United States. The lake is located south of Walton Blvd., north of Silver Lake Road, and east of Dixie Highway. Silver Lake is located on the Clinton River watershed. Silver lake connects with Loon Lake to the west and with Upper Silver Lake (35.5 acres) to the east.The sand-bottom lake is 101 acres (41 ha).At its deepest point, the lake is 73 feet (22 m) deep, making it the ninth deepest lake in Oakland County.

Schoolhouse Lake is an all-sports 37-acre (15 ha) lake located in central Oakland County, on the east side of Waterford in Waterford Township.The lake is part of the Clinton River watershed. The Clinton River enters Schoolhouse Lake on the north end and exits on the west end. Upstream is Lake Oakland and Wormer Lake (27.5 acres). Downstream from Schoolhouse Lake is Loon Lake.

Clintonville is an unincorporated community in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The community is located within Waterford Township. As an unincorporated community, Clintonville has no legally defined area or population statistics of its own, and it uses the Waterford 48328 ZIP Code. It was located along the Clinton River on what today is Walton Boulevard between Clintonville Road and Sashabaw Road. The village was built on the shores of Wormer Lake (27.5 acres) and Schoolhouse Lake (37 acres).

The site of the mall was originally to have been occupied by a different mall called Auburn Mills, which was never built due to financial issues of its intended developer, Western Development Corporation. Great Lakes Crossing was built on the site and opened in 1998. Constructed and owned by Taubman Centers (itself a subsidiary of Simon Property Group), Great Lakes Crossing Outlets is the largest outlet mall in the state of Michigan.
