Hazel Park, Michigan

WCHB (1340 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Royal Oak, Michigan, and serving the Detroit metropolitan area. It broadcasts an urban gospel radio format and is owned by Crawford Broadcasting. The station is a reporter to Billboard's Nielsen/BDS Gospel airplay panel. The radio studios and offices are shared with co-owned WMUZ, WMUZ-FM and WRDT, on Radio Plaza in Ferndale, Michigan. WCHB broadcasts in the HD format and. It is powered at 1,000 watts, using a directional antenna in the daytime. The transmitter is on West Woodland Heights Boulevard in Ferndale, near Interstate 75. Programming is also heard on 99-watt FM translator W244DL at 96.7 MHz in Detroit.

Hazel Park High School is a public high school in Hazel Park, Michigan. The school serves grades 9-12 and is a part of the Hazel Park Schools District. It opened in 1929 at the current site of the Junior High School and moved to its current location in 1961. The school has been named a Reward School by the Michigan Department of Education.

Hazel Park Raceway, located in Hazel Park, Michigan, in the metropolitan Detroit area, was a horse race track. From 1949 it offered live thoroughbred racing every Friday and Saturday night May through mid-September, and also offered harness racing. Beginning in 1996, it offered simulcast wagering seven days a week all year long on thoroughbred and harness races from across the US and Canada. Admission and parking were free. For a period, this was the only track in Michigan to offer live thoroughbred racing. The track opened in 1949 for Thoroughbred flat racing. In 1953 a harness racing season was added. After 1985, only Standardbred harness racing events were run here until 2014, when Thoroughbred racing was revived. The track was sold and closed in April 2018, leaving Northville Downs as the only horse racing track in Michigan. It closed in 2019. In 2021 an Amazon distribution center opened on the site. Under the ownership of Bernard Hartman and Herbert Tyner, owners of Hartman and Tyner Inc., in 2009 Hazel Park generated roughly $550,000 in revenue for the City of Hazel Park.

The Michigan State Fairgrounds Speedway was a dirt oval racing track located in Detroit, Michigan. The track was built in 1899 for horse racing, and it was part of the ground purchased to provide a permanent venue for the Michigan State Fair. Joseph Lowthian Hudson donated the land, at Woodward Avenue and what is now 8 Mile Road, to the Michigan State Agricultural Society.By 1908, the racetrack, at the east end of the fairground, had a 5,000-seat capacity grandstand. The track originally hosted Thoroughbred flat racing as well as Standardbred harness racing. Later, it was used for auto racing, after the growth of that industry. In 1971 the grandstand was declared unsafe; it was demolished in 2001.

The Jason Hargrove Transit Center (JHTC) is a major public transit station in Detroit, Michigan, United States. It is the third iteration of the State Fair Transit Center, located at the old Michigan State Fairgrounds, near the intersection of 8 Mile Road and Woodward Avenue. It serves as the secondary hub for the Detroit Department of Transportation bus network, as well as a major transfer point for the suburban SMART network, served by 13 bus routes in total. The JHTC is an adaptive reuse project, housed in the former Dairy Cattle Building, the last remaining structure from the Michigan State Fair at the site. The remainder of the State Fair site has been redeveloped for retail and industrial uses.

The Michigan State Fair Riding Coliseum, Dairy Cattle Building, and Agricultural Building are three buildings located on the grounds of the Michigan State Fair in Detroit, Michigan. They were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Michigan State Fairgrounds Coliseum (also Hockeytown State Fair Coliseum) was a 5,600-seat multi-purpose arena in Detroit, Michigan. The coliseum, built in 1922, was part of the former Michigan State Fairgrounds until its demolition in early 2022. The Michigan State Fair, the oldest state fair in the United States, was held here until 2009. The coliseum has also been the long-time venue of Detroit performances by the Shrine Circus. Between 1999 and 2008, the Coliseum was home to the Wayne State University Warriors ice hockey team. Wayne State played its first collegiate hockey season in 1999 at the arena following the coliseum's renovation. Wayne State played its next three seasons at the Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena in Fraser and then two seasons at the Compuware Sports Arena in Plymouth before returning to the Coliseum in 2005. The arena was also host to the 2006 men's and women's College Hockey America conference tournament. Between early 1999 and mid-2000, the Michigan State Fairgrounds Coliseum was the site of three Extreme Championship Wrestling house shows. In 2006 the Royal Oak-Shrine Catholic High School Knights ice hockey team began playing at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum. The team left in 2007; they returned in the 2008–2009 season for their first varsity season. The Motor City Mechanics of the United Hockey League, which had suspended operations in 2006, planned to resume in 2008 and play at the Coliseum. But this never took place, and the UHL (rebranded as the International Hockey League) closed in 2010. The exterior of the coliseum was used as the Flint Fairgrounds Coliseum in the 2008 movie Semi-Pro. In 2020, the state fairgrounds were sold to Amazon; the company plans to convert the site into a $400 million distribution center. As of this date, it is planned that the buildings on the site, including the Coliseum, will be demolished. Demolition began on the building in January 2022, and was completed by the next May. The facade of the building, however, will remain preserved.

Madison Heights is a city in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. An inner-ring suburb of Detroit, Madison Heights is located roughly 12 miles (19.3 km) north of downtown Detroit. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 28,468.

WFCB-LP (100.7 FM) is a community radio station in Ferndale, Michigan, owned by Ferndale Radio, Incorporated, formerly known as Underwood V Radio, Incorporated (pronounced "Underwood Five Radio"), having launched in 2016. Ferndale Radio was created by five friends who have a strong passion for music and missed the freedom and creative expression of college radio. The studio and tower is located in the heart of Ferndale at the Rust Belt Market. The station covers the immediate Ferndale and Royal Oak areas, as well as portions of Detroit's North End. The station is a non profit 501c 3 run completely by volunteers and supported by donations and local underwriters. The station's application was confirmed as acceptable by Industry Canada for coordination purposes under NARBA, on July 25, 2014, and its construction permit was granted on August 7, 2014. Due to its proximity and frequency, the station is subject to interference from nearby CKUE-FM-1 in Windsor, Ontario, which broadcasts at a substantially higher power (3.84 kW) from a tower very close to the Canada–United States border. In 2020 and 2021, the station started raising funds for online streaming. Ferndale Project, a local brewery in Ferndale, brewed a Ferndale Radio beer and part of the proceeds were donated to their streaming efforts. Ferndale Radio is on track to start streaming at the start of 2022.

Gateway Marketplace is an open-air shopping mall located within the city of Detroit, Michigan. The complex is located at the southeast corner of 8 Mile Road (M-102) and Woodward Avenue (M-1), near the Michigan State Fair complex. The complex contains around forty inline tenants on its 35 acres (140,000 m2).

The Sacred Heart Chaldean Church (Imperial Aramaic: ܥܕܬܐ ܕܠܒܗ ܕܡܪܢ ܕܟܠܕܝ̈ܐ, romanized: ʿēttāʾ d-lebbēh d-māran d-ḵaldāyēʾ) was a Chaldean Catholic church located in Chaldean Town, a neighborhood in Detroit on 7 Mile Road. It was built in 1975 using Assyrian Revival architecture. In 1979, Iraqi Former President Saddam Hussein donated half a million to the church and was given the key to Detroit. The church’s pastor, Jacob Yasso, calls the former Iraqi president “a very generous, warm man who just let too much power go to his head". The church was closed in 2015, as the local Assyrian population was very thinned out, and so it moved to a new facility in Warren, Michigan as "Our Lady Of Perpetual Help". The building is being sold, with a "for sale" sign visible from a Google street view from October, 2015.The old and new churches are part of the Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of Saint Thomas the Apostle of Detroit.
