Ulvenhout

Nieuw-Ginneken was a municipality in the Dutch province of North Brabant, located southeast of the city of Breda. It was created in 1942 from part of the municipality of Ginneken en Bavel, and existed until 1997 when its parts north of the A58 motorway merged with Breda, and the parts south of the motorway, containing the villages of Strijbeek, Galder and some outer parts of Ulvenhout merged with Alphen-Chaam.

Wolfslaar Restaurant is a restaurant in Breda, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 2005 and retained that rating until present.In 2013, GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 15 out of 20 points.Head chef of Wolfslaar Restaurant is Maarten Camps.The restaurant is located in the coach house of the Wolfslaar Estate. In 2011, the restaurant temporarily moved to the manor of the estate while the coach house was renovated. Most parts of the estate are Rijksmonuments, including the coach house itself.

The fourth siege of Breda (21 July – 11 October 1637) was an important siege in the Eighty Years' War in which stadtholder Frederick Henry, Prince of Orange retook the city of Breda, which had last changed hands in 1625 when the Spanish general Ambrogio Spinola conquered it for the Spanish Habsburgs. Hereafter, the city would remain in the hands of the Dutch Republic until the end of the war.

The Capture of Breda of 1581, also known as the Haultepenne Fury, occurred on 26–27 July when Spanish troops under the command of Claude de Berlaymont, lord of Haultepenne, took Breda by surprise after a sentry was bribed by a follower of the king, Charles de Gavre, who was kept a prisoner at the castle. The corrupt sentry allowed the Spanish troops to enter the castle. Despite the resistance by Breda's citizens, the attackers succeeded in taking the most important city gates and launched an attack on the city hall, the tower, and the church. The defenders surrendered on the condition that the city would not be looted. At 10.00 a.m. fighting stopped and the sack and massacre started. Some 584 citizens died during this relatively short event.

The capture of Breda was a short battle during the Eighty Years' War and Anglo–Spanish War during which a Dutch and English army led by Maurice of Nassau captured the heavily protected city of Breda. Using a clever tactic reminiscent of the Trojan horse, a small assault force hid in a peat barge, entered the city of Breda, and proceeded to take it over resulting in a minimum number of casualties. It was the turning point of the war as the forces under Maurice were able to take the offensive.

Bouvigne Castle is a castle outside the Ginneken district in the Dutch province of North Brabant, near the Mastbos south of Breda. Behind it lies the Markdal. It has been owned by the Brabantse Delta Water Board since 1972. After restoration between 1975 and 1977, it was reopened by Prince Claus on 13 September 1977.

Anneville is an estate in Ulvenhout in the Dutch province of North Brabant. It is located just south of the city of Breda. It is a small country estate, best known for being the temporary residence of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands when she first returned to the Netherlands near the end of the Second World War. Anneville lies in the municipality of Alphen-Chaam in southern Netherlands.

Ginneken en Bavel was a municipality in the Dutch province of North Brabant, located southeast of the city of Breda. It covered the villages of Ginneken (now a neighbourhood of Breda) and Bavel. Ginneken en Bavel existed until 1942, when the village of Ginneken was transferred to Breda, and the other part of the area became a new municipality called Nieuw-Ginneken.

De Hoop is a gristmill in Bavel, Netherlands. The mill was built in 1865.

`t Ploegske was a football stadium in Breda, Netherlands. It was used for football matches and hosted the home matches of NAC Breda. The stadium was able to hold 3,000 people, including 150 seats. The stadium was opened in 1916 and demolished in 1931.

Zandberg is a neighbourhood and residential district to the southeast of the city centre of Breda, an extension raised in the 1920s and 1930s. It is only one of four parts of one of the seven greater quarters of that city, officially called 'Breda East' (Breda Oost).

Avans University of Applied Sciences (Dutch: Avans Hogeschool) is a Dutch high ranked vocational university. It is located in three cities: Breda, 's-Hertogenbosch, and Tilburg. The school has over 30,000 students studying 40 courses in 18 institutes. There are 3,000 employees. Avans University of Applied Sciences itself was founded on January 1, 2004, as a union of Hogeschool 's-Hertogenbosch and Hogeschool Brabant in Tilburg, Breda, and Etten-Leur. Hogeschool Brabant itself was a union from 1988 of Hogeschool West-Brabant (Etten-Leur and Breda) and Hogeschool Midden-Brabant (Tilburg). The oldest branch of Avans University of Applied Sciences is the Kunstacademie in 's-Hertogenbosch, which was founded on October 1, 1812.
