Beerta (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈbeːrtaː]; Gronings: (De) Beert(e) [də ˈbɪːdə]) is a village and former municipality with a population of 2,205 in the municipality of Oldambt in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. In the 20th century, Beerta was a communist stronghold. In 1933, the municipal council was dismissed by the government, and was ruled by a government commissioner until 1935. Between 1982 and 1990, Beerta was the only municipality with a communist mayor.

Winschoterzijl is a former hamlet in the municipality of Oldambt in the northeast of the Netherlands. It was also a sconce, and is still a lock. The village was settled by Lutheran refugees from East Frisia during the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648). In 1992, Winschoterzijl was demolished during the widening of the Pekel A.

Finsterwolde (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌfɪnstərˈʋɔldə]) is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen, about 7 km northeast of the city of Winschoten. Finsterwolde was a separate municipality until 1990, when it was merged with Beerta into Reiderland. In 2010 Reiderland merged into the municipality Oldambt. The old municipality of Finsterwolde included six small nearby or connecting settlements. These are also taken into account in the population estimate of 2008, without which the actual population, purely based on the centre and new developments, would be 1250. The village is known for the Galery Waalkens.

Pekel A or Pekel Aa (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈpeːkəl ˈaː]) is a river in the Province of Groningen in the Netherlands. The villages of Oude Pekela and Nieuwe Pekela have been named after the river. The name translates to Brine (Pekel) River (A), and used to flow from the Dollart into a large raised bog. The Dollart was poldered from the 15th century until 1924, and the river now has its source at the confluence with the Westerwoldsche Aa at De Bult. The river was canalised and extended. The part from Oude Pekela to Stadskanaal was renamed Pekelderdiep. From 1599 until 1810, the area through which the river flowed, was a peat colony. In the 20th century, the Pekel A was a heavily polluted river, but it has been cleaned up since the 1970s.

Ulsda (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʏlzdaː]; abbreviation: Ul/Uld) was a railway stop (Dutch: stopplaats) in the village of Ulsda in the Netherlands. It was situated on the Harlingen–Nieuweschans railway between Winschoten and Nieuweschans. Trains called at Ulsda from 1887 until the railway stop was closed in 1938. Services were provided by Staatsspoorwegen (1887–1937) and Nederlandse Spoorwegen (1938). The stop had first a shelter (1890–1930) and later a building (1930–1950).

Blauwestad (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌblʌu.əˈstɑt]) is a village in the municipality of Oldambt in the Netherlands. It is situated on the east bank of the Oldambtmeer in the east of the province of Groningen.

Ulsda (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʏlzdaː]; Gronings: Olsde) is a hamlet in the municipality of Oldambt in the northeast of the Netherlands. Between 1887 and 1938 there was a railway stop in Ulsda. Ulsda was home to 44 people in 1840. Nowadays, it consists of a handful of houses.

Winschoten (Dutch: [ˈʋɪnsxoːtə(n)] ; Gronings: Winschoot) is a city with a population of 18,518 in the municipality of Oldambt in the northeast of the Netherlands. It is the largest city in the region of Oldambt in the province of Groningen which has 38,213 inhabitants. Winschoten received its city rights in 1825. It was a separate municipality until it was merged into Oldambt in 2010. The seat of government of Oldambt is in Winschoten. There are three windmills and several churches in Winschoten. There is a railway station with direct connections to Groningen and Leer (Germany), although due to the reconstruction of the Friesenbrücke trains to Germany will stop at Weener until 2024. Winschoten has an important role as a shopping centre for the region of Oldambt. In the province of Groningen, it is the second-largest shopping destination and it attracts many consumers from nearby Germany.

Oldambt (Dutch pronunciation: [ɔlˈdɑm(p)t]) is a municipality with a population of 38,277 in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. It was established in 2010 by merging the municipalities of Reiderland, Scheemda, and Winschoten. It contains the city of Winschoten and these villages:

Oostwold is a village in the municipality of Oldambt in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. The village is home to the Oostwold Airport. The village had a population of 960 people as of 2019.

Winschoten (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋɪnsxoːtən] ; abbreviation: Ws) is an unstaffed railway station in Winschoten in the Netherlands. It is located on the Harlingen–Nieuweschans railway between Scheemda and Bad Nieuweschans in the province of Groningen. The station building, designed by Karel Hendrik van Brederode, was completed in 1865 and expanded in 1904. Train services started on 1 May 1868 and have since been provided by Maatschappij tot Exploitatie van Staatsspoorwegen (1868–1937), Nederlandse Spoorwegen (1938–2000), NoordNed (2000–2005), and Arriva (2005–present). During World War II, 500 Jews were transported from the station via the Westerbork transit camp to Nazi concentration camps, where most of them were killed. The station has three tracks and two platforms. As of 2014, there are two local train services with trains every half an hour to and from Groningen, and trains every hour to and from Bad Nieuweschans and Leer (Germany). The station handles 2,500 rail passengers on an average weekday. There is a park and ride area for cars and bicycles, and a bus station with nine regional services provided by Qbuzz.

Hongerige Wolf (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɦɔŋərəɣə ˈʋɔl(ə)f]; Hungry Wolf) is a hamlet with a population of 30 in the municipality of Oldambt in the Netherlands.
