Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) is a public university in Montgomery, Alabama. Established by an act of the Alabama Legislature in 1967, it is governed by the Auburn University Board of Trustees as a member of the Auburn University system. AUM offers more than 90 programs of study leading to bachelor's, master's, specialist, and doctoral degrees. As of 2018, the university enrolled more than 5,200 students.

Amridge University is a private university affiliated with the Churches of Christ with its main campus in Montgomery, Alabama. It was previously known as Alabama Christian School of Religion, Southern Christian University, and Regions University, and is a successor institution to Alabama Christian College. Founded in 1967 as the Alabama Christian School of Religion, its primary function historically has been as a theological seminary to train ministers in Bible and Christian Counseling. However, Amridge has expanded its curricula to other degrees. Seminary training offered by the Turner School of Theology, named in honor of founder Rex Allwin Turner Sr. and his wife Opal Shipp Turner, continues to be a core undertaking, with all levels of ministry and theological degrees available.

Woodmere, since 1976, is a developed neighborhood subdivision located six miles east of downtown Montgomery, Alabama. As of 2006 the medium density area includes a variety of nearly 800 homes. Adjacent apartment complexes are outside the neighborhood.

The Central Alabama VA Medical Center–Montgomery is a medical facility of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in Montgomery, Alabama. The hospital was built in 1940 and originally consisted of 138 acres (56 ha), but has been reduced to approximately 50 acres (20 ha). The main building is a four-story H-shape building with elements of Colonial Revival and Classical Revival styles. Other historic buildings on the campus include the dining hall, residences for attendants and nurses, and engineering & maintenance buildings. The hospital was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
