Green Island, Hong Kong

Belcher Bay is a bay at Kennedy Town on the northwest shore of Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. It is located east of Sulphur Channel. The bay is named after Edward Belcher, a Canadian-born British naval officer who surveyed the surrounding water and land in the Victoria Harbour in 1841. Green Island and Little Green Island are located within the bay. It is currently used as a site for larger ships to load and unload goods between barges instead of mooring along docks.

The Sulphur Channel is a narrow inshore passage between Green Island and the northwest tip (West Point) of Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. The Sulphur Channel is mainly used by small craft and inter-island ferries passing between Victoria Harbour and the East Lamma Channel. The channel was named after HMS Sulphur, a bomb vessel commanded by Edward Belcher who took the first British survey to Hong Kong harbour on 25 January 1841. Captain Belcher left HMS Sulphur with a landing party on 26 January 1841, disembarked on the northern foreshore, and raised the Union Jack over Hong Kong at Possession Point (what is today Hollywood Road Park). After raising a toast to the Queen with his companions, he officially declared the island the property of Her Majesty Queen Victoria and a Colony of the British Empire.In the 1990s, the Hong Kong Government had planned to reclaim the channel but withdrew later due to opposition from environmental concern groups.

Sai Wan Estate (Chinese: 西環邨) is a public housing estate in Kennedy Town, Sai Wan, Hong Kong. Built in 1958 and 1959, it sits in a hillside that had to be extensively cut away for its construction. the estate comprises 640 flats in five linear blocks of 10 to 14 storeys. It is the only public housing estate in Central and Western District developed by the Hong Kong Housing Authority and it is the second oldest existing public housing estate built by the Hong Kong Housing Authority, after Model Housing Estate.Sai Wan Estate was designed by government architect Stanley Feltham.Despite its age, in 2008 the Housing Authority decided not to redevelop the estate in the short term. Instead, repair works were planned to be carried out in the buildings to sustain the estate for the following 15 years.

Kennedy Town is at the western end of Sai Wan on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. It was named after Arthur Edward Kennedy, the 7th Governor of Hong Kong from 1872 to 1877. Administratively, it is part of Central and Western District. Due to its distance from major commercial cores and longtime inaccessibility by train, town development was less vigorous than in other parts of urban Hong Kong. But since the MTR was extended to the area in 2014, it is rapidly gentrifying, with many older businesses, such as vehicle repair workshops and cha chaan tengs, making way for new luxury developments, as well as high-end bars and restaurants.

The Merton (Chinese: 泓都) is a high-rise development located in Kennedy Town, Hong Kong. The complex consists of three towers. The Merton 1 rises 59 floors and 197 metres (646 ft), and stands as the 60th-tallest building in territory. The Merton 2 and The Merton 3 rise 51 floors and 180 metres (591 ft), and stand as the 100th-tallest buildings in the territory; the two structures are tied in rank with the Sham Wan Towers and Liberté 5 and 6. The entire complex, composed almost entirely of residential units, was designed by architectural firm Ronald Lu & Partners and developed by New World Development. Construction began in 1998 and completed in 2005.The complex has a club house in each of the three towers, comprising a swimming pool, gymnasium, yoga and aerobics rooms, reading room, indoor kids playing area, steam room, and sauna. Several scenic walks such as the Mount Davis Trail start a few minutes of walking distance from the complex. There are several bars and eateries within walking distance of The Merton. The Merton is a few minutes walk to both Cadogan Temporary Playground and Forbes Playground. The Smithfield wet market is a 6-minute walk from the complex. The Kennedy Town MTR station is about 5 minutes walk from the complex. The station is situated at the end of the Island line, and is 4 stations (10 minutes) away from the Central station.

Mount Davis or Mo Sing Leng is an area surrounding and including the westernmost hill on Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong. It is 269m tall. Home to mostly luxury residences, Mount Davis was originally settled after the construction of Victoria Road, Hong Kong by prominent Hong Kong families who were unable to live on Peak due to the zoning restriction in Peak District Reservation Ordinance, 1904.It is named after Sir John Francis Davis, who was the 2nd Governor of Hong Kong, from 1844 to 1848. The summit is reached via Mount Davis Path, which comes off Mount Davis Road and Victoria Road.

Manhattan Heights (Chinese: 高逸華軒) is a residential skyscraper located in Kennedy Town, Hong Kong. Completed in the year 2000, the greenish tower stands 607 ft (185 m) tall and has 55 floors. The architect of this building is SLHO & Associates Ltd.Part of the building is being operated as a serviced apartment.

St. Clare's Girls' School (Chinese: 聖嘉勒女書院; abbr.: SCGS) is a Catholic English girls' school located on Mount Davis Road, Central and Western District, Hong Kong. It was founded in 1927 by the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Angels from Lennoxville, Québec, Canada.

Kwun Lung Lau is a public housing estate in Kennedy Town, Hong Kong. It is one of the first public housing developments in Hong Kong, built in 1967 to alleviate a housing crisis in the territory. It is on 20 Lung Wah Street. It consists of seven buildings, namely Block A - G. The overall shape was that of a snaking dragon, and hence its name which means Watching Dragon Building in Chinese. Kwun Lung Lau is also famous for a landslide on 23 July 1994 that killed five people and injured three. Leaking water and heavy rain had built up behind a masonry retaining wall, which was too thin, and subsequently collapsed. This disaster caused a major review of slope safety in Hong Kong.

Kennedy Town is the western terminus of the Island line. The station serves the Kennedy Town area on the northwestern end of Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong.

Belcher's Street is a main street in Kennedy Town of Hong Kong. It connects east Victoria Road and joins west Queen's Road West. A small section in its west end built a turn around for Hong Kong Tramways. The street was named after Edward Belcher, a Canadian-born Royal Navy officer who surveyed the harbour of Hong Kong in 1841. The former Western Fire Station, located at No. 12 Belcher's Street, was converted into the Po Leung Kuk Chan Au Big Yan Home for the Elderly. It is a Grade III historic building and is located along the Central and Western Heritage Trail.
