Fernwald

Annerod is a small village, part of the municipality Fernwald, in Germany between Gießen and Großen-Buseck approximately 70 km north of Frankfurt. Annerod has a population of about 2800 people.

The Marienstiftskirche is a Lutheran three-aisled hall church in Lich, Middle Hesse, Germany. It was built between 1510 and 1537, making it the last Late Gothic hall church to be built in Hesse. The architectural style straddles the transition between Gothic and Renaissance. It is a Hessian heritage site and contains objects of national art historical significance. The neighbouring Stadtturm, with its historic triple peal serves as a clocktower for the Marienstiftskirche.

Trohe is the smallest, with 753 inhabitants.

Großen Buseck is a station in Buseck in the German state of Hesse. The station is on the Vogelsberg Railway (Gießen–Fulda railway) and has two platforms.

Arnsburg Abbey (German: Kloster Arnsburg) is a former Cistercian monastery near Lich in the Wetterau, Hesse, Germany. It was founded by monks from Eberbach Abbey in 1174. Although heavily damaged in the Thirty Years' War it was rebuilt later in the 17th century and prospered in the 18th century, when much of the abbey was rebuilt in Baroque style. Secularized in 1803 and abandoned by its monks in 1810, its economy buildings were given to the Grafen (Counts) von Solms-Laubach, who adapted them as their seat. The abbey church today stands as a roofless ruin, but many of the outbuildings are still intact and have seen various uses over the past 200 years. Since 1960 the abbey has also been the site of a war memorial, containing the graves of German soldiers and Soviet, Polish and Romanian prisoners-of-war/forced labourers as well as those of 87 people shot by the SS in the final days of World War II. The abbey is partially open to the public.

The Akademischer Forstgarten Gießen is a historic arboretum and botanical garden in the Schiffenberger Wald on Schiffenberger Weg, Gießen, Hesse, Germany. It opens daily with free admission. The garden dates to 1778 when the University of Giessen added a career in forestry, making it the oldest department of this kind in the world. Its first forest garden was founded in 1802. In 1825, the forester official Karl von Gall created today's garden on an area of 0.5 hectares (1.2 acres), which by 1830 contained "close to 400 varieties of forest plants" including many foreign trees. The Hessian Forest College was founded in 1825, and merged into the University of Giessen in 1831. Carl Justus Heyer, who directed the garden from 1830–31 and 1835–1856, was also responsible for the Botanischer Garten Gießen. By 1877 the forest garden had been extended to 5.7 hectares (14 acres) and it was enlarged again in 1883. In 1938, the Forest Institute was relocated to the University of Göttingen, and the Akademischer Forstgarten Gießen fell into disuse. Today it still contains more than 200 tree and shrub species.

Waldstadion (German pronunciation: [ˈvaltˌʃtaːdi̯ɔn] (listen)) is a 4,999-capacity stadium located in Giessen, Germany. It is home to FC Gießen. The stadium has also been used for major rock concerts and festivals.
