Ashby, Massachusetts

Willard Brook State Forest is a publicly owned forest with recreational features located in the towns of Ashby and Townsend, Massachusetts. The forest's fast-running brook and tree stands of a classic New England nature give it a character more in line with that of the forests found farther west in the state. It is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation.

The Cambridge Grant Historic District is a 322-acre (1.30 km2) historic district located on Russell Hill Road and Wilker Road in Ashburnham, Massachusetts, at an elevation of 1240–1300 feet above sea level. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Fitchburg High School is a public high school in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The school is part of the Fitchburg Public Schools district.

The West Branch of the Souhegan River is a 3.1-mile-long (5.0 km) river in southern New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Souhegan River, which flows to the Merrimack River and ultimately to the Gulf of Maine. The West Branch is located entirely in the town of New Ipswich, New Hampshire. It begins at the junction of Fox Brook and Pratt Pond Brook, southwest of the town center, and flows east through the settlement known as Smithville, ending at its junction with the South Branch of the Souhegan River north of Gibson Four Corners.

The South Branch of the Souhegan River is a 5.8-mile-long (9.3 km) river located in northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire in the United States. It is a tributary of the Souhegan River, which flows to the Merrimack River and ultimately to the Gulf of Maine. The South Branch begins near Mount Watatic at the outlet of Stodge Meadow Pond in the town of Ashburnham, Massachusetts, and flows north through a chain of small lakes (Marble Pond, Ward Pond, and Watatic Pond) before turning northeast into the town of Ashby, Massachusetts. North of Ashby, the river enters New Ipswich, New Hampshire, passes through a small flood control reservoir, and joins the West Branch to form the Souhegan River, just north of the intersection known as "Gibson Four Corners".

Pearl Hill State Park is a 1,000-acre (400 ha) Massachusetts state park located in the town of Townsend about 50 miles (80 km) from Boston. The park lies adjacent to Willard Brook State Forest and is managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

The Greenville Wildlife Park was a small zoo that operated in Greenville, New Hampshire for five years, from 1998 - 2003. It closed after the death of its co-founder, Glen Eldridge.A Sept. 26, 2003, article in The Telegraph newspaper of Nashua described the closure: "When you come right down to it, it's a dollars issue," said Bob Hayden of Lyndeborough, a member of the board of directors for the region's only zoo. The nonprofit park will close to the public Nov. 1 after five years in operation. "We had done OK with gate the first few years, but this year we had a couple of devastating financial things," said Hayden. "We never had the $100,000-a-year endowment that a place like this really needs." Rainy weather this year cut attendance greatly, said Hayden, but the worst blow was the unexpected death in May of Glen Eldridge, who founded the park with his wife, Kathy. ... Greenville Wildlife Park was opened by the Eldridges as an outgrowth of when their collection of animals outgrew the Furry Friends Zoo they had established on their Lyndeborough property. They bought a failed condominium project on Blanch Farm Road that had been taken by Greenville for unpaid taxes, and opened the park in September 1998. In 2002, the park lost a lawsuit over the ownership of two chimpanzees.

Mount Watatic is a 1,832-foot (558 m) monadnock located just south of the Massachusetts–New Hampshire border, in the United States, at the southern end of the Wapack Range. It lies in Ashburnham, Massachusetts and Ashby, Massachusetts. The 22-mile (35 km) Wapack Trail and the 92-mile (148 km) Midstate Trail both cross the mountain. The name is probably a corruption of the Native American term Wetu-tick, "wigwam brook", and probably applied first to the nearby large stream and thereafter to the mountain and the pond.The east and south side of the mountain drains into the Souhegan River watershed, to the Merrimack River thence the Atlantic Ocean; the west and north sides drain into the Millers River watershed, to the Connecticut River, thence into Long Island Sound. Mount Watatic was the site of a ski area that operated from the 1930s until 1984. An attempt to reopen the ski area in 1988 failed. Mount Watatic was also once home to state fire tower #31 that looked out over central Massachusetts, until its removal in 1996. Phone lines to the tower ran up the Ashby and Ashburnham sides of the mountain over the years.

Sizer School is a public charter school in the City of Fitchburg Massachusetts. The school was founded by Peter Garbus. It was thought up initially at a barbecue in 2000 by a group of educators looking to establish a charter school in the area. In 2001 the North Central Charter Essential School was chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. By 2002 it began operations with an inaugural class of 235 student from across the area. In 2014 a building was donated to the school located on Rindge Road in Fitchburg. The same year the school was renamed Sizer School after Ted Sizer. It serves students from seventh through twelfth grades.

New Ipswich is a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 5,204 at the 2020 census. New Ipswich, situated on the Massachusetts border, includes the villages of Bank, Davis, Gibson Four Corners, Highbridge, New Ipswich Center, Smithville, and Wilder, though these village designations no longer hold the importance they did in the past. The Wapack Trail passes through the community.

The New Ipswich Town Hall is a historic academic and civic building on Main Street (New Hampshire Route 123A) in the center village of New Ipswich, New Hampshire. The 1+1⁄2-story wood-frame structure was built in 1817 to serve the dual purpose of providing a town meeting place, and to provide space for a private academy. The building has been little altered since 1869, when it was substantially reconfigured solely for town use. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Crocker Field is an outdoor sports and recreation facility for the children of the Fitchburg Public School System in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. The complex consists of a number of athletic facilities on a 5.5-acre (2.2 ha) plot of land near the Nashua River. There are indoor and outdoor playing areas, an outdoor stadium, a field house, and a ticket booth and concession stand. The site is enclosed on three sides by a wrought iron fence resting on a concrete base, with periodic square concrete pillars. Most of the complex was built in 1918, with landscaping designed by the Olmsted Brothers. The facility was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001 as the Crocker Field Historic District.
