Calf Top

Gawthrop is a hamlet in the South Lakeland district, in the county of Cumbria, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it lies within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is near the River Dee and the village of Dent.

Crag Hill is on the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales in northern England, not to be confused with the higher Crag Hill elsewhere in the county of Cumbria. It lies on the boundary of the Yorkshire Dales national park, but its summit is in South Lakeland district, Cumbria. It is part of a ridge including the neighbouring fells of Great Coum and Gragareth. The summit of Crag Hill is about 0.62 miles (1 km) away from the top of Great Coum, the latter being the highest point on the ridge at 2,254 feet (687 m).All three hills may be included in a single circular walk from High Moss near Whernside on the Ingleton to Dent road. The views are extensive, with panoramas of the Yorkshire Dales, Howgill Fells, the Pennines and the Lake District beyond. The hill is listed as one of the waypoints in the Yorkshire Dales Top Ten (YDTT). This is a long-distance walking route that takes in the ten highest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales with a combined ascent of 22,000 feet (6,700 m).

Millthrop is a hamlet in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, Northern England and the Yorkshire Dales. Millthrop lies on the south bank of the River Rawthey close to the town of Sedbergh.

The River Dee is a river running through the extreme south east of Cumbria, a part of the Craven region traditionally part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. Its name possibly derives from Brythonic deva meaning goddess, or from Dent or Dentdale, through which the river flows.The river rises above Dent Head Farm (on the Dales Way), formed from several smaller streams emanating from Blea Moor Moss, the River Dee makes its way northward past Stone House, where it is joined by Arten Gill, to Cowgill, where it turns left into Dentdale. In Dentdale, it picks up the waters of Deepdale Beck (travelling north from Whernside) before passing Dent and Gawthrop.The river later passes Lenacre and Rash on its way to meeting the River Rawthey at Catholes, near the town of Sedbergh. The old water mill at Rash Bridge is thought to have been an inspiration for the folk song "The Jolly Miller of Dee".The Rawthey goes on to join the River Lune.

Sedbergh School Chapel is located to the southeast of Sedbergh School, Sedbergh, Cumbria, England. It is considered to be of architectural importance and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.

Settlebeck School is a small coeducational secondary school with academy status. It is located in Sedbergh in the English county of Cumbria, drawing pupils from a radius of at least of ten miles, and a total number on roll of about 160.Previously a community school (Settlebeck High School) administered by Cumbria County Council, Settlebeck School converted to academy status on 1 August 2011. The school continues to coordinate with Cumbria County Council for admissions. Settlebeck High School offers GCSEs and ASDAN qualifications as programmes of study for pupils. The school also has a provision of vocational courses offered in conjunction with Kendal College.Settlebeck School is not to be confused with Sedbergh School which is a nearby independent boarding institution.

Sedbergh ( SED-bər or locally SEB-ər) is a town and civil parish in the ceremonial county of Cumbria. It falls within the historic boundaries of the West Riding of Yorkshire. Since April 2023, it has been administered by Westmorland and Furness local authority. The 2001 census gave the parish a population of 2,705, increasing at the 2011 census to 2,765. It lies about 10 miles (16 km) east of Kendal, 28 miles (45 km) north of Lancaster and about 10 miles (16 km) north of Kirkby Lonsdale, within the Yorkshire Dales National Park (whose boundaries in this area follow those of the historic counties). It stands at the foot of Howgill Fells, on the north bank of the River Rawthey, which joins the River Lune 2 miles (3 km) below the town.

Sedbergh School is a public school (English private boarding and day school) in the town of Sedbergh in Cumbria, North West England. It comprises a junior school for pupils aged 4 to 13 and the main school for 13 to 18 year olds. It was established in 1525.

Great Coum is a hill in the Yorkshire Dales, but is located in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria. The highest point is in Dent parish, but the boundary with Casterton parish crosses the summit. Its neighbours include Crag Hill, Green Hill and Gragareth. It can be ascended from Dent to the north or by a shorter route, of about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) with 700 feet (210 m) of climbing, from the minor road to White Shaw Moss (SD723821). Great Coum is classified as a Marilyn, Hewitt, Nuttall, HuMP, Simm, Buxton & Lewis, Bridge and Clem.

St Andrew's Church is in Main Street, Sedbergh, Cumbria, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Kendal, and the diocese of Carlisle. Its benefice is united with those of St Mark, Cautley, and St John the Baptist, Garsdale, to form the benefice of Sedbergh, Cautley and Garsdale.The Parish is also part of the Western Dales Mission Community. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building.

St Bartholomew's Church is in the village of Barbon, Cumbria, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Kendal, the archdeaconry of Westmorland and Furness, and the diocese of Carlisle. Its benefice is united with those of St Mary the Virgin, Kirkby Lonsdale, Holy Trinity, Casterton, St John the Divine, Hutton Roof, All Saints, Lupton, St Peter, Mansergh, and the Holy Ghost, Middleton, to form the Kirkby Lonsdale Team Ministry. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.

The Bull Hotel, formerly The Black Bull Hotel, is a 17th-century coaching inn in Sedbergh, Cumbria. It is located in a narrow passage parallel with the Main Street of Sedbergh and contains 14 rooms. The inn has been used for conferences, particularly by science associations and groups such as geologists and naturalists since at least the 1880s.
