Windham High School (WHS) is a public high school in Windham, Maine, United States. It is part of the Windham Raymond School District RSU14 and accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

The William Goold House is a historic house at 280 Windham Center Road in Windham, Maine. Originally built in the year 1775 and later rebuilt in 1802, it was the longtime home of William Goold, a prominent 19th-century historian of the state of Maine and a state senator. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in August 1990.

The Great Falls Historic District encompasses the remains of an early 19th-century mill hamlet in Windham, Maine. On the east bank of the Presumpscot River north of Windham Center Road are a cluster of three houses from the period, as well as the archaeological remains (most visibly building foundations) of a few mills that lined the river at the falls just north of the road. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

North Windham is a census-designated place (CDP) within the town of Windham in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. The population was 4,904 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Center Day Camp (CDC) is a day camp run by the Jewish Community Alliance of Southern Maine, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that coordinates, promotes, and supports the Jewish philanthropic, benevolent, educational, and communal activities in Southern Maine. It is located in North Windham, Maine, on the shores of Sebago Lake.

Babb's Bridge is a covered bridge spanning the Presumpscot River on Hurricane Road, between the towns of Gorham and Windham in Cumberland County, Maine. Built in 1976, it is a replica of a 19th-century bridge that stood on the site until destroyed by arson in 1973. The bridge was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and was delisted in 2023.

The Freeman Farm Historic District encompasses a historic farm property in Gray, Maine. The 100-acre (40 ha) parcel, originally platted out in 1791, was owned and operated by five generations of the Freeman family, and is emblematic of the changes in agricultural practices over a period of more than 150 years. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Pleasant River is a 13.1-mile-long (21.1 km) tributary of the Presumpscot River in the U.S. state of Maine. The Pleasant River originates in the town of Gray and parallels U.S. Route 202 as it flows southwesterly through the town of Windham to discharge into the Presumpscot River upstream of the village of South Windham. With the exception of a few cascades over exposed bedrock, the river has a fairly low gradient through the Presumpscot Formation of silt and clay marine mud with localized sandy lenses. Through the center of Windham, the river cuts through end moraines of glacial till, sand and gravel.

Saint Joseph's College of Maine is a private Catholic college in Standish, Maine. It is the only Catholic college in Maine. Saint Joseph's was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1912. The college, run by a lay and religious Board of Trustees, was located on the convent grounds in nearby Portland until 1956 when it moved to its lakeside location in Standish. In 1970, Saint Joseph's became coeducational and six years later began a distance education program for working adults. Saint Joseph's College Online offers its online programs to 2,400 students in 50 states and nine countries.

South Windham is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Windham in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. The population of the CDP was 1,374 at the 2010 census. Prior to 2010, South Windham was part of the Little Falls-South Windham census-designated place. It is part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area.

White Rock is an unincorporated community in the town of Gorham, in Cumberland County, Maine, United States. It formerly had a school, called White Rock Elementary, until it closed in 2011 with the coming of Great Falls Elementary on Route 237. White Rock was named for a large white boulder that once stood in front of the current church. White Rock is home to part of the Mountain Division Trail, a partially completed rail trail with segments that follow the former Mountain Division line between Fryeburg and Portland.

The Cumberland and Oxford Canal was opened in 1832 to connect the largest lakes of southern Maine with the seaport of Portland, Maine. The canal followed the Presumpscot River from Sebago Lake through the towns of Standish, Windham, Gorham, and Westbrook. The Canal diverged from the river at Westbrook to reach the navigable Fore River estuary and Portland Harbor. The canal required 27 locks to reach Sebago Lake at an elevation of 267 feet (81 m) above sea level. One additional lock was constructed in the Songo River to provide 5 feet (1.5 m) of additional elevation to reach Long Lake from Sebago Lake. Total navigable distance was approximately 38 miles (61 km) from Portland to Harrison at the north end of Long Lake. A proposed extension from Harrison to Bear Pond and Tom Pond in Waterford would have required three more locks on the Bear River, but they were never built.A state lottery was authorized to help raise $50,000 for the project, and the Canal Bank of Portland was chartered in 1825. The canal was completed in 1830 at a cost of $206,000. The excavated portions of the canal had a surface width of 30 feet (9.1 m) with a 10 feet (3.0 m) wide channel 3.5 feet (1.1 m) deep. The locks were 10 feet (3.0 m) wide and 80 feet (24 m) long. Lock walls were made of granite masonry with wooden gates at either end. A lock keeper was stationed at each lock to move the lock gates with heavy timber balance beams, manipulate iron valves to adjust water levels within the lock, and collect a 6 cent fee for use of the lock.
