Horne's Place Chapel is a late mediaeval timber-framed house with private chapel in Appledore, Kent, England. It was designated by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building in 1952. The chapel is open to view, but the attached manor house is a private dwelling.

Fairfield is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Snargate, in the Folkestone and Hythe district of Kent, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 61. On 1 April 1934 the parish was abolished and merged with Snargate, part also went to Stone cum Ebony. The area lies west of the village of Brookland. It is in the Church of England parish of Brookland and Fairfield on Walland Marsh (part of Romney Marsh).

Ebony is a hamlet south of Ashford in Kent, South East England, in the civil parish of Stone-cum-Ebony, on the Isle of Oxney in the Ashford district of Kent. EBONY (St. Mary), is a parish, in the union of Tenterden, partly in the hundred of Tenterden, Lower division of the lathe of Scray, W. division, but chiefly in the hundred of Oxney, lathe of Shepway, E. division, of Kent, 4 miles (S. E.) from Tenterden. [1] The place-name 'Ebony' is first attested in a Saxon charter of 833, where it appears as Ebbanea. The name means 'Ebba's or Ybba's stream'.

Stone-cum-Ebony is a large mostly rural and marshland civil parish centred 7 miles (11 km) SSW of Ashford in Kent, South East England. It includes the village of Stone in Oxney and tiny community of Ebony. Its population expanded by 69 in the ten years to 2011.

Stone in Oxney is a village south of Ashford in Kent, South East England, in the civil parish of Stone-cum-Ebony near Appledore. The village is 11 miles (18 km) south east of Tenterden, and stands in a position on the eastern side of the Isle of Oxney. The stone that gives the village its name is preserved in the village church, and is of Roman origin. Often thought to be an altar of Mithras, it in fact depicts Apis.The Saxon Shore Way, a long-distance walking route tracing the old Saxon shoreline, passes through the parish.

Appledore railway station is a Grade II listed station east of Appledore in Kent, England. It is on the Marshlink line, and train services are provided by Southern. The station was constructed in 1851 by the South Eastern Railway and designed by William Tress. It became a junction station in 1881 when a branch line opened to Lydd and New Romney; this closed to passengers in 1967 following the Beeching Report, though the line remains open for goods traffic to Dungeness Nuclear Power Station. Despite a recommendation in the report that Appledore should also close, it has remained open into the 21st century.

The Royal Military Canal Path is a long-distance path in England, mainly following the Royal Military Canal. Its end points are Seabrook, Kent (51.0720°N 1.1221°E / 51.0720; 1.1221 (Royal Military Canal Path, Seabrook terminus)), and Pett Level, East Sussex (50.8887°N 0.6840°E / 50.8887; 0.6840 (Royal Military Canal Path, Pett Level terminus)), and it runs for 27 miles (43 km). It is a canal-side path and fringes the northern edge of Romney Marsh. The canal is an early-19th-century defence against a possible invasion by Napoleon, and it is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a SSSI. Links are made with the Saxon Shore Way at Appledore and West Hythe.

Isle of Oxney is an area in Kent, England, close to the boundary with East Sussex. Up to the 13th century, the island was part of the coastline bordering what is now the Romney Marsh. As that silted up, and until the later 17th century, the River Rother which enters the sea beyond Rye and flowed across Kent in a west–east direction, was in a channel to the north of the island. By the late 17th century, the river had changed its course to the south. The construction of the Royal Military Canal helped drain the remaining land connecting Oxney to the rest of Kent. Today the former sea and river channels are low-lying land, leaving the erstwhile island as high ground, but still retaining its name. Places on the Isle of Oxney include Wittersham, Stone in Oxney and Stone-cum-Ebony.

Kenardington is a small clustered village and the centre of a relatively small rural civil parish of the same name, in the Ashford District of Kent, England. The village is centred 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Ashford on the B2067 Hamstreet to Tenterden road.

Brattle is one of the settlements making up the dispersed village of Woodchurch in Kent, England. It is at the southern apex of the triangle of roads which are the main village.

Canterbury Oast Trust (COT) is a registered charity in England providing accommodation, care and training for people with learning disabilities in Kent and East Sussex.Its public site is the South of England Rare Breeds Centre at Woodchurch, near Ashford, Kent, which was set up to provide skills and training to people with learning disabilities. It is a working farm, and also operates as a tourist attraction. It chiefly comprises a farm, animal sanctuary, restaurant, plant nursery and art centre all providing occupational opportunities for people with learning difficulties. Other sites are: Woodland management and woodcrafts businesses at Poulton Wood near Aldington, Kent A college for people with learning difficulties, Harrington College.The South of England Rare Breeds Centre has displays of various farm animals, a children's petting barn, children's and toddlers play areas, discovery and wildlife gardens, walk through aviary and butterfly tunnel, woodland walks and the Granary Restaurant. Buildings from a Georgian farm (Yonsea Farm) are being re-located to the site as a preservation project. The Centre offers National Curriculum-based activities for visiting school groups. It is one of sixteen Rare Breeds Survival Trust approved farm parks, and features a variety of rare breeds. Sheep breeds include Manx Loaghtan, Jacobs, Lincoln Longwool, Wensleydales and Portlands; Pig breeds include Berkshires, British Lops, Gloucestershire Old Spots, Middle Whites and Tamworths; cattle include British Whites, Gloucesters and Beef Shorthorns; and there are also Bagot goats. Also located at the Centre is The Falcons Centre conference facility, which as well as providing for corporate meetings, is licensed for civil marriage ceremonies and caters for events such as banquets and dances. From 2008 the Centre will be the home of the annual Bilsington Craft Fair (28/29 June in 2008).Poulton Wood is a 10.2-hectare (25-acre) coppiced woodland and Local Nature Reserve renowned for its bluebells. It has free public access. It adjoins Homelands, a listed building dating from the 17th century in Aldington which is used by the Canterbury Oast Trust as a residential building. The wood includes Ash, Hornbeam and Oak trees. Poulton Wood Works is run by the Trust to manage the woodland, and also produces craft products, wooden furniture and offers a local tree felling service.

There is another Woodchurch in Kent, a hamlet in the Manston civil parish within the Thanet district.Woodchurch is a Kent village, the largest civil parish in the Borough of Ashford. It is centred 6 miles (9.7 km) from the market town of Ashford and 4 miles (6 km) from the Cinque Ports town of Tenterden, in Kent, South East England. The windmill that overlooks the village from the north commands extensive views over the Walland marshes to the English Channel coast. It is a fine example of a Kentish smock mill and was originally one of a pair of windmills standing on this site, known locally as The Twins. The mill is open throughout the summer and is accessible via a footpath that passes between the village pubs. The village is on the edge of the Weald of Kent, whilst the parish extends 6 miles (10 km) north to south and 4 miles (6 km) east to west, one of Kent's largest. Within the village are the settlements of Brattle and Townland Green. To the south-west is the flat expanse of Shirley Moor leading to Romney Marsh and the low wooded hills overlooking Appledore and the Marsh are to the south-east. The surrounding area is designated as a Kent Special Landscape Area.
