The Waverly Hills Sanatorium is a former sanatorium located in the Waverly Hills neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. In the early 1900s, Jefferson County was ravaged by an outbreak of tuberculosis – known as the "White Plague" – which prompted the construction of a new hospital. The Sanatorium opened in 1910 as a two-story facility able to accommodate between 40 and 50 tuberculosis patients. The hospital closed in 1961, due to the success of antibiotic drug streptomycin in lowering the needs for such a facility. At some point, plans were made to turn the abandoned hospital into a hotel, but this is no longer the case.

Christian Academy of Louisville (a.k.a. "CAL") is a private Christian school system in Louisville, Kentucky. It is composed of several schools in the Louisville metropolitan area, the largest of which is CAL-English Station on the city's east side. The school system seeks to provide a "traditional education in a Christ-centered environment", and families seeking admission must have a reference from a minister certifying that they attend a church regularly. Waverly Hills is a neighborhood in Southwestern Louisville, Kentucky which is centered at Dixie Highway (US 31W) and Pages Lane. It is located in a hilly section of the city, which is part of the larger Knobs Region which extends into southeastern Kentucky. Its boundaries are roughly Stonestreet Road and 3rd Street Road to the south, Dixie Highway to the west, St Andrews Church Road to the north, and Auburndale to the east. Until the 1990s, the area remained largely rural and heavily forested, but has since been developed with many upscale subdivisions, and is now the most affluent area of Louisville's South End, with a median family income of over $101,499 and over 30% of inhabitants having a bachelor's degree or higher. Development has been most intense along Arnoldtown Road. It is named after the site of the former Waverly Hills Sanatorium. The area is also home to Waverly Hills Park.

It is one of the few inland industrial/port sites in the nation with single-line haul by three railroads: CSX, Norfolk Southern and Paducah & Louisville. It was established in the mid-1970s. The industrial park contains a variety of manufacturing and industrial production, as well as distribution and international trade. There is a Foreign Trade Zone in Riverport, designated as #29, with customs clearance in Louisville.

Valley Station is a former census-designated place in southwestern Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 22,946 at the 2000 census. When the government of Jefferson County merged with the city of Louisville, Kentucky in 2003, residents of Valley Station also became citizens of Louisville Metro. As a result, Valley Station is said to be a neighborhood within the city limits of Louisville by local media. It was named for its location in the valley between Muldraugh Hill and the Knobs. The area was first settled in the mid-nineteenth century. The Salt River Turnpike, today's Dixie Highway, ran through the area. Large-scale suburban development occurred in the 1950s and 1960s, similar to nearby Pleasure Ridge Park. Valley High School is located in the area. Valley Station is home to Riverside, The Farnsley-Moremen Landing and the Levee Trail.

Greenwood is a neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky located along Cane Run Road and Greenwood Road. It is sometimes referred to by its large industrial park and shipping facility, Riverport.
