Notre Dame High School (Riverside, California)

Riverside is a city in and the county seat of Riverside County, California, United States, in the Inland Empire metropolitan area. It is named for its location beside the Santa Ana River. It is the most populous city in the Inland Empire and in Riverside County, and is about 50 miles (80 km) southeast of downtown Los Angeles. It is also part of the Greater Los Angeles area. Riverside is the 59th-most-populous city in the United States and the 12th-most-populous city in California. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 314,998. Along with San Bernardino, Riverside is a principal city in the nation's 13th-largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA); the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario MSA (pop. 4,599,839) ranks in population just below San Francisco (4,749,008) and above Detroit (4,392,041). Riverside was founded in the early 1870s. It is the birthplace of the California citrus industry and home of the Mission Inn, the nation's largest Mission Revival Style building. It is also home to the Riverside National Cemetery and the Eastern Division of the Federal District Court for the Central District of California. The University of California, Riverside, is in the northeastern part of the city. The university hosts the Riverside Sports Complex. Other attractions in Riverside include the Fox Performing Arts Center, Museum of Riverside, which houses exhibits and artifacts of local history, the California Museum of Photography, the California Citrus State Historic Park, Castle Park, and the Parent Washington Navel Orange Tree, the last of California's two original navel orange trees.

The Parent Washington Navel Orange Tree is a tree grown by Eliza Tibbets in Riverside, California, in 1873. The Riverside County tree was designated a California Historic Landmark (No.20) on June 1, 1932, at the corner of Magnolia Street and Arlington Street, Riverside. The Bahia, Brazil, Washington navel orange was brought to the United States by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1870. The Department of Agriculture imported twelve trees; from these trees, some buds were grafted on to California sweet orange trees. The Washington Navel Orange is also called California Navel Orange.The navel orange is a mutation of regular sweet orange. This mutated orange was discovered in a monastery orchard in Brazil in 1820. In 1870 a cutting from the navel orange was sent to Washington, D.C., thus was called the Washington navel orange. The name "navel orange" is from the mutation at the bottom blossom end of the orange. The bottom of the orange has a depression which looks like a human belly button. The mutation gives the navel orange no seeds. The Washington navel oranges were shipped all over the United States. As oranges cannot withstand freezing weather, the climate of Southern California is good for the Californian citrus industry and the navel orange.

Riverside Plaza is a 475,000-square-foot (44,100 m2) outdoor mall in Riverside, California originally anchored by a 205,000-square-foot (19,000 m2) Harris Company (later Harris’/Gottschalks) department store along with Montgomery Ward. It was the city's first mall and was originally an outdoor mall and then remodeled to an enclosed indoor mall then again remodeled to an outdoor mall. After a $12-million renovation in the early 2010s, the center features walkways, fountains, decorative lights and courtyard seats. Today it is anchored by a Regal Cinemas, Forever 21, Trader Joe's, Marshalls, JoAnn Fabrics & Crafts and Nordstrom Rack. Forever 21 opened first in the empty Harris’/Gottschalks building space, but relocated in 2013 to a space that Borders Books vacated.

Casa Blanca (Spanish for "White House") is a former unincorporated community now an annexed neighborhood of Riverside, in Riverside County, California. It lies at an elevation of 866 feet (264 m). Casa Blanca is located 4 miles (6.4 km) south-southwest of downtown Riverside.

The California School for the Deaf, Riverside (CSD-R or CSDR) is a school for deaf children located in Riverside, California. The school educates children from all over Southern California. Its companion school in Northern California is California School for the Deaf, Fremont (CSD-F or CSDF).

California Southern Law School (CSLS) was a private part-time evening law school in Riverside, California. It admitted its last entering class in Fall 2016 and closed after the Spring 2020 semester. It is registered with the California State Bar Committee of Bar Examiners (CBE), but is not accredited by the CBE or approved by the American Bar Association. As a registered law school, CSLS graduates may take the California Bar Examination and upon passing the Bar, they are authorized to practice law in California.

Ramona High School is a high school in Riverside, California, United States, part of the Riverside Unified School District, and the home of the Ramona Rams. Ramona graduated its first class of students in 1958. Ramona has been designated as a "National Demonstration School" for the AVID Program.

Victoria Avenue is a divided scenic street in Riverside, California, that cuts through an area referred to as the greenbelt. Originally developed in 1892 to connect the Arlington Heights area to downtown Riverside, the road became a popular tourist attraction because of the many trees and exotic plants used to landscape the route. Beyond the landscaping, the road was surrounded by navel orange groves, the crop that spurred Riverside's growth. Many of the groves still exist today.

Jesus Santiago Duran (July 26, 1948 – February 17, 1977) was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and a recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Pachappa Hill is a summit in the Temescal Mountains within the city of Riverside in Riverside County, California. It is a hill that rises to an elevation of 1,175 feet (358 meters).

The YMCA Building is a structure in downtown Riverside, California, that has been used for various functions over the years; currently, it is the Life Arts Center. The Life Arts Center rents its three halls on the main floor for wedding receptions, business events, graduations and quinceañeras. The top floor has 25 studios rented by artists. These were once the hotel rooms rented to guests by YMCA. The bottom floor, which was a gymnasium, is now vacant. The building was designed in the style of an Italian Renaissance palazzo. In 1980, the building was granted historic status by the city and designated as city landmark #41.

Riverside Polytechnic High School is a four-year public high school in Riverside, California, United States, and part of the Riverside Unified School District. The current facility, located on Victoria Avenue, was opened in September 1965; the traditions of the school go back to 1887, then known as the Riverside High School, making Riverside Polytechnic the oldest high school in the city.
